Illbruck Vapor Barrier (VB) Tape is applied around the interior of the rough opening in advance of the windows being hung.

After the windows are hung, Universal Spray Foam is applied into the joints between the rough opening and the window frame for thermal and acoustic insulation. The VB Tape is then connected to the window frame once the foam is cured.

illbruck manufactures PU spray foam, and several varieties of joint sealant tape that may easily be customized to your detail needs.These products may be used in a system (as outlined), or independently for other requirements.

Willseal 600 is installed into all of the exterior precast panel joints (horizontal and vertical). The exterior joints on the building envelope are therefore sealed weather-tight to repel wind and driving rain, etc., yet they are also vapor permeable so moisture developed within the building envelope is enabled to breathe and dry to the outside.

All expansion and isolation joints on the tarmac and taxiways at the DIA Airport are fitted with willseal 600.

Crews block off areas and must perform their work between 11:00 PM and 5:30 AM.

* Remove existing sealant and sandblast substrate edges.

* Mix and apply 2-part epoxy adhesive to one substrate edge (willseal 600 PSA attaches to other substrate).

* The PSA on the willseal is securely connected to the clean side of the joint substrate. (A crow bar is used to apply high pressure.)

willseal 600 is the primary, exterior, weather-tight (driving rain, etc.) joint sealant in this detail, and the preceding photos. Additionally, it minimizes air infiltration; prevents insects, dirt, and debris from collecting in the outer wall cavity; and due to it’s mechanical bond to the joint substrates, it is much more responsive to the dynamic movement of metal substrates than ordinary caulk and backer rod.
