ILS EAGLE NEWLETTER October 9, 2020 www.immanuel-ed.org Today marks the end of the first quarter of our school year! Little did we know in August, we would be able to still be here in-person today, October 9! We are so thankful to be able to celebrate this wonderful time! We thank God for His loving care and protection as work through this school year together! What a Great God we have! In our meetings this week, the faculty reviewed some of the procedures weve been following over the course of the first quarter and made some decisions regarding the second quarter. Teachers are rule followers by nature. They are doing an outstanding job in cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining social distancing. For that and more we thank them! We are so blessed by their service! Thank you parents, for being so dedicated to making in-person learning such a success here at Immanuel. It takes all of us working together to make this year possible for our children! Today also marks the last day of remote learning’. Our teachers have gone above and beyond all expectations in making Immanuels brand of remote learningso successful. We owe them a debt of gratitude. Should Immanuel need to revert to remote learning for either a student or two, or even a larger group, please know that we are ready to go in that direction immediately. As we met, we reviewed some of the procedures we have in place to keep our student body safe. These procedures are working and have worked well over the course of the first quarter, so we will continue to follow them for the duration of the 2nd quarter. At the end of that quarter, we will again re-evaluate and confirm our plans with you for 3rd quarter. We will continue to ask you to self-certifyyour child(ren) every day with our entry tickets’. This is a practical solution for us to keep us vigilant and on track with the State of Illinois. Thank you! At this point, we will continue to ask parents not to enter the building. We want so badly to have reading parents, lunch helpers and the like, but we know that by keeping our bubbles intact, we are protecting one another. We will look at this again at the end of the 2nd quarter - just prior to Christmas Break. Our classroom parties will look a bit different too. Our Room Moms will be providing a Party in a Boxfor teachers to use. Please feel free to talk with your childs Room Parents to assist them in figuring out the logistics. Weve not ever done it this way before, so were learning together. Parent Teacher Conferences are fast approaching too. You will be offered in-person conferences along with an option to video conference as you desire. Conferences will be spaced to allow for cleaning between each conference. We look forward to meeting with you and showing you all that your child is learning at Immanuel! (Please note that Election Day, November 3, is scheduled as an attendance day for our students. It is also a day for Parent Teacher Conferences.) Finally, our usual Christmas Concert and Advent Christmas Service will look different too. Chorus and Bells are beginning this week and were excited for that to begin. We will not be able to have our typical concert or Advent Service, but we are planning a Remote experience for our families. More details will follow on that, but please know we will be communicating more details on that event over the next few weeks. As we finish this quarter and begin a new one, please continue to lift our school, staff, and families up in prayer. We continue to ask God to protect us, keep us safe, and eradicate this virus from our world. We also ask that God continue to use us to share the Good News of Jesus with all those we meet. Gods blessings, Sue Domeier
