Sunday March 1, 2 - 5pm Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College (BCBC) Whitman Theater Campus Rd. and Hillel Pl. (2 train to Brooklyn College) This year's Folk Feet Dance Showcase brings the various dances of death, mourning, and remembrance practiced in Brooklyn's immigrant communities to the Whitman Theater stage for a first-ever presentation in the same program. It is the first in a series of spring 2009 events for BAC Folk Arts’ Days of the Dead in Brooklyn: Diverse Traditions of Death, Mourning, and Remembrance. Experience the dance traditions of China, Korea, Grenada, India, and more. Featuring Aeilushi Mistry, Dean Maitland, Euston James, Ivan Dominguez, Vongku Pak, Brooklyn Chinese-American Association Senior Dance Group, and Erhan Yildirim. Free! Jennifer Mills' 24-hour performance, entitled “Scribe” completed in October 2008 in a Brooklyn storefront. Lingering Thoughts, a Performance Piece by Jennifer Mills Thursday, March 5, 6pm BAC Gallery 111 Front Street, #218 Guest artist Jennifer Mills will perform Lingering Thoughts, in conjunction with the exhibition Clamoring to Become Visible, curated by Christine Spangler, now on-view in BAC Gallery. Lingering Thoughts is a continuation of Jennifer Mills' 24-hour performance, entitled “Scribe” completed in October 2008 in a Brooklyn storefront. Working from a storefront that was made to look like an office, Mills typed her observations of the activity on the street. While completing 22 of the attempted 24 hours, Mills created a 200 page typed manuscript of the experience.
