Povijest Rivijere Crikvenica je odjevena u tisućljetnu haljinu, što su je tkali razni vladari, ukrašenu nitima mnogobrojnih kultura i civilizacija. Zahvaljujući božanskim darovima priro-de i mudrosti predaka, svako je povijesno razdoblje otisnulo neprocjenjiv pečat u knjigu baštine.

Vidljivi tragovi prošlosti nas pozdravljaju iza svakoga ugla, mašući s uzvišenoga Kotora, skrivajući se iza zidina pavlinsko-ga samostana, u osmijehu kipa ribara ili jedinstvenoj crikve-ničkoj amfori. Otkrijemo li veo realnosti, saznat ćemo što je to nagnalo Sekstusa Metilija Maksima da upravo u Crikvenici u razdoblju prije Krista osnuje veliku keramičarsku radioni-cu, osjetit ćemo ponos Nikole IV. Frankopana dok je ispisivao darovnicu crikveničkim pavlinima, divit ćemo se talentu mla-doga Jurja Julija Klovića, najvećega renesansnoga minijaturi-sta. Osluhnemo li pažljivije, čut ćemo riku davno izumrloga spiljskoga lava iz špilje u Dramlju ili možda otkriti tajnu muzu velike književnice Marije Jurić Zagorke. Znat ćemo zašto je još početkom 20. vijeka crikvenička rivijera prepoznata kao lječi-lišna oaza i koji su temelji stoljetnoga razvoja turizma.

The history of the Crikvenica Riviera is a thousand-year-old patchwork quilt sewn by various rulers, and embroidered by many cultures and civilisations. Each historic period has left its mark, which is today reflected in the area’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

The signs of days long gone are present at every corner. They greet us from the heights of Kotor, are hidden behind the walls of the Pauline monastery, and can be seen in the smile of the statue of a local fisherman or in one of the wonderful Crikvenica amphorae. If we look closely enough, we can see why Sextus Metilius Maximus founded a large ceramic work-shop here in Crikvenica in ancient times. We can imagine the pride that Nikola IV Frankopan felt as he wrote out the deed of donation for the Pauline Order of Crikvenica, and admire the talent of the young Juraj Julije Klović, the great Renaissance miniaturist. We can also imagine the roar of the now extinct cave lion whose remains were found near Dramalj, or maybe discover the secret muse that inspired the works of the great writer Marija Jurić Zagorka. We can see why the Crikvenica Riviera was recognised as a spa retreat in the early 20th century and how its tourism has developed over the past century.

Zeichen der Vergangenheit trifft man hier auf Schritt und Tritt an. Sie winken Ihnen vom Hügel Kotor zu, verbergen sich hin-ter den Mauern des Paulinerklosters und sind am Lächeln der Fischerstatue oder an der einzigartigen Crikvenica-Amphore zu erkennen. Bei genauerer Betrachtung lässt sich nachvollzie-hen, warum bereits im Altertum ausgerechnet in Crikvenica von Sextus Metilius Maximus eine große Keramikwerkstatt gegründet wurde. Man kann sich auch vorstellen, wie stolz Nikola IV. Frankopan war, als er die Schenkungsurkunde für die Pauliner von Crikvenica verfasste, oder das Talent des jun-gen Juraj Julije Klović bewundern, der als größter Miniatur-maler der Renaissance gilt! Mit etwas mehr Phantasie kann man sogar das Gebrüll des seit langem ausgestorbenen Höh-lenlöwen aus einer in Dramalj gelegenen Höhle hören oder die geheime Muse der Schriftstellerin Marija Jurić Zagorka entdecken. All dies legt nahe, warum diese Riviera zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts zum Kurort erklärt wurde und worin die Meilensteine für die Weiterentwicklung des Fremdenverkehrs bestanden.

Plima doživljaja Rivijera Crikvenica je mudri pripovjedač, čija knjiga doživljaja hrani maštu i vodi nas u svijet gdje se pažljivo ubiru i čuvaju plodovi tradicije, a svakodnevni allegro polako uzmiče. Kre-nemo li utabanim stazama starih Rimljana, sakupit ćemo vri-jedna iskustva, a obučemo li srednjovjekovnu haljinu i putem sretnemo pavlina, poklonit će nam pokoji savjet i postat ćemo dio Dana Frankopana. Dok sunce nesebično obasiplje svo-jom toplinom, plešimo i pjevajmo stare primorske pjesme, kušajmo autohtona jela i pridružimo se našim domaćinima u tradicionalnom običaju mlaćenja slame, veslanju, boćanju ili igrama na moru. While the sun is graciously showering us with its warmth, we can dance and sing old traditional songs, taste local dishes and join our hosts in the ancient custom of making hay, rowing, or play-ing bocce or water games. August is the perfect time to take part in one of the oldest swimming marathons on the Adriatic coast. In Fishermen’s Week, by day we can enjoy the open seas and admire the fishermen’s skills, while by night we can enjoy music under a sky lit up by fireworks. When we are tired from the seaside marathon, we can put on a mask and let ourselves go during carnival and see the Riviera in a whole new light.

Während Sie von der Sonne mit ihrer Wärme ausgiebig beschenkt werden, können Sie tanzen, traditionelle Lieder singen, typische Gerichte kosten oder sich einfach Ihren Gastgebern beim traditionellem Stroh- dreschen, Rudern, Boccia-Spiel oder den Wasserspielen im Meer anschließen. Im August haben Sie auch die Gelegenheit, sich an einem der ältesten Schwimm-Marathons an der Adria zu beteiligen. In der traditionellen Fischerwoche können Sie sich tagsüber den örtlichen Fischern anschließen und es sich abends zu Musik und Feuerwerk gut gehen lassen. Und wenn Sie nach dem Marathon entlang der Meeresküste müde sind, setzen Sie sich einfach eine Maske auf, um sich beim Karneval zu entspannen. Potremo rivivere queste esperienze percorrendo i sentieri battuti dagli antichi Romani, oppure indossando un costume medioevale e incontrando per strada un frate paolino, sempre pronto a darci qualche consiglio, o ancora prendendo parte alle Giornate dei Frankopan. Sotto i raggi generosi del sole, balliamo e cantiamo qualche vecchia canzone litoranea e possiamo assaggiare qualche piatto tipico oppure unirci ai nostri antenati nell'usanza tradizionale della battitura del fieno, fare un giro in barca a remi, giocare a bocce o cimentarci in altri giochi sul mare. Il mese di agosto è l'oc-casione per partecipare a una delle più antiche maratone di nuoto dell'Adriatico. Nella settimana dedicata ai pescatori, di giorno potremo osservare la loro bravura sull'orizzonte mari-no, e di notte rilassarci a suon di musica e fuochi d'artificio. Dopo la maratona , stanchi ma felici, potremo indossare una maschera, divertirci al Carnevale e vivere la riviera sotto una luce diversa.

The Crikvenica Riviera was once home to a small seaside resort where patients of all ages used to recover their health. U šetnji uz jezero, planinarenju ili biciklističkom usponu, krstarenju nebom u paraglajderu, pomnom istraživanju frankopanskih kaštela ili tek uživanju u pretapanju modrog i zelenog dok stojimo na jednome od vidi-kovaca, osjetit ćemo bliskost s prirodom, tako prekrasnom u njezinoj jednostavnosti.
