READING I Acts 6:1-7
As the number of disciples continued to grow,
the Hellenists complained against the Hebrews
because their widows were being neglected in
the daily distribution. So the Twelve called
together the community of the disciples and
said, “It is not right for us to neglect the word of
God to serve at table. Brothers, select from
among you seven reputable men, filled with the
Spirit and wisdom, whom we shall appoint to this
task, whereas we shall devote ourselves to
prayer and to the ministry of the word.” The
proposal was acceptable to the whole
community, so they chose Stephen, a man filled
with faith and the Holy Spirit, also Philip,
Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and
Nicholas of Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They
presented these men to the apostles who
prayed and laid hands on them. The word of
God continued to spread, and the number of the
disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly; even a
large group of priests were becoming obedient
to the faith.

ng pitong lalaking kilala sa pagiging mabuti,
matatalino at puspos ng Espiritu Santo, at
ilalagay namin sila sa tungkuling ito. At iuukol
namin ang buong panahon sa pananalangin at
sa pangangaral ng Salita.” Nalugod ang buong
kapulungan sa panukala ng mga apostol; kaya’t
pinili nila si Esteban, isang lalaking matibay ang
pananalig sa Diyos at puspos ng Espiritu Santo,
at sina Felipe, Procoro, Nicanor, Timon,
Parmenas, at Nicolas na taga-Antioquia, isang
Hentil na naakit sa Judaismo. Iniharap sila sa
mga apostol; sila’y ipinanalangin ng mga ito at

READING II 1 Peter 2:4-9
Beloved: Come to him, a living stone, rejected
by human beings but chosen and precious in the
sight of God, and, like living stones, let
yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a
holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices
acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it
says in Scripture: Behold, I am laying a stone in
Zion, a cornerstone, chosen and precious, and
whoever believes in it shall not be put to shame.
Therefore, its value is for you who have faith, but
for those without faith: The stone that the
builders rejected has become the cornerstone,
and A stone that will make people stumble, and
a rock that will make them fall. They stumble by
disobeying the word, as is their destiny.
You are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a
holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may
announce the praises” of him who called you out
of darkness into his wonderful light.

hinirang at mahalaga; hindi mabibigo ang
sinumang nananalig sa kanya.” Kaya nga,
mahalaga siya sa inyong mga may pananalig.
Ngunit sa mga walang pananalig, matutupad
ang nasa Kasulatan: “Ang batong itinakwil ng
mga tagapagtayo ay siyang naging batong-
panulukan” at “naging batong katitisuran at
ikararapa ng mga tao.” Natisod sila sapagkat
hindi sila sumunod sa salita ng Diyos; ito ang
itinalaga sa kanila. Datapwat kayo ay isang
lahing hinirang, mga saserdote ng Hari, isang
bansang nakatalaga sa Diyos. Pinili kayo ng
Diyos upang maging kanya at maghayag ng
mga kahanga-hangang gawa niya. Siya rin ang
tumawag sa inyo mula sa kadiliman tungo sa
kanyang kagila-gilalas na kaliwanagan.

GOSPEL John 14:1-12
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your
hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have
faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are
many dwelling places. If there were not, would I
have told you that I am going to prepare a place
for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come back again and take you to myself,
so that where I am you also may be. Where I am
going you know the way.” Thomas said to him,
“Master, we do not know where you are going;
how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him,
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through me. If you
know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen
him.” Philip said to him, “Master, show us the
Father, and that will be enough for us.” Jesus
said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a
time and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you
not believe that I am in the Father and the Father
is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not
speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me
is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the
Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe
because of the works themselves. Amen, amen,
I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the
works that I do, and will do greater ones than
these, because I am going to the Father.”
EBANGHELIYO Jn 14:1-12
Noong panahong iyon, sinabi ni Hesus sa
kanyang mga alagad: “Huwag kayong mabalisa;
manalig kayo sa Diyos at manalig din kayo sa
akin. Sa bahay ng aking Ama ay maraming silid;
kung hindi gayon, sinabi ko na sana sa inyo. At
paroroon ako upang ipaghanda ko kayo ng
matitirhan. Kapag naroroon na ako at
naipaghanda na kayo ng matitirhan, babalik ako
at isasama kayo sa kinaroroonan ko. At alam na
ninyo ang daan patungo sa pupuntahan ko.”
Sinabi sa kanya ni Tomas, “Panginoon, hindi po
namin alam kung saan kayo pupunta, paano
naming malalaman ang daan?” Sumagot si
Hesus, “Ako ang DAAN, ang KATOTOHANAN,
at ang BUHAY. Walang makapupunta sa Ama
kundi sa pamamagitan ko. Kung ako’y kilala
ninyo, kilala na rin ninyo ang aking Ama. Mula
ngayon ay kilala na ninyo siya at inyong nakita.”
Sinabi sa kanya ni Felipe, “Panginoon, ipakita
po ninyo sa amin ang Ama, at masisiyahan na
kami.” Sumagot si Hesus, “Matagal na ninyo
akong kasama, Felipe! Diyata’t hindi mo pa ako
nakikilala? Ang nakakita sa akin ay nakakita na
sa Ama. Bakit mo sinasabing:’Ipakita mo sa
amin ang Ama’? Hindi ka ba naniniwalang ako’y
sumasa-Ama at ang Ama’y sumasaakin? Ang
mga salitang sinasabi ko ay hindi ko sinasabi sa
ganang aking sarili. Ang Amang sumasaakin
ang gumaganap ng kanyang mga gawain.
Maniwala kayo sa akin: ako’y sumasa-Ama at
ang Ama ay sumasaakin. Kung ayaw ninyong
maniwala sa sinasabi ko, maniwala kayo dahil
sa mga gawang ito. Sinasabi ko sa inyo: ang
nananalig sa akin ay makagagawa ng mga
ginagawa ko at higit pa rito, sapagkat pupunta
na ako sa Ama.”

PROFESSION OF FAITH: The Renewal of Baptismal Promises
Dear brothers and sisters,
together, as a parish community,
let us now renew the promises of Holy Baptism,
by which we once renounced Satan and his works
and promised to serve God in the holy Catholic Church.
And so I ask you:
Do you renounce Satan?
R/. I do.
And all his works?
R/. I do.
And all his empty show?
R/. I do.
Do you believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth?
R/. I do.
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only
Son, our Lord,
who was born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered death and was buried,
rose again from the dead
and is seated at the right hand of the
Father?
R/. I do.
Do you believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting?
R/. I do.
This is our faith. This is the faith of the Church.
We are proud to profess it in Christ Jesus our Lord.

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
INTRODUCTION
The first deacons bore witness to Christ by serving the community of faith. Let us
also take part in mutual service to one another as we pray to the Lord saying: “Christ
our life, save us.” R/. Christ our life, save us.
INTERCESSIONS • For the church, that we may live as God’s chosen people and follow Christ who is
our Way, our Truth and our Life, we pray to the Lord.
• For a safe, responsible, yet joyous reopening of churches for the celebration of
public Masses throughout the world, that church leaders adhere to the federal, state
and local mandates while preparing in anticipation for the day we may return to celebrate as one body of Christ, we pray to the Lord.
• For all who were supposed to graduate this spring, that God will recognize their
achievements by opening pathways for them to use their gifts and fulfill their greatest dreams, we pray to the Lord.
• For all mothers and especially those mentioned in our Mother’s Day Novena, that
God will watch over them, bless them with every good gift, and fill their hearts
with peace, we pray to the Lord.
• For all who have died, particularly our mothers, and especially Patricia Kelly, that
God will welcome them into the peace and joy of God’s presence forever, we pray
to the Lord.
FINAL PRAYER God of love and mercy, we thank you for the gift of faith. Listen to the petitions we
present to you for those in need, and grant our prayers through Christ our Lord. R/.
