Overview

This is a multidisciplinary radiology course addressing issues in breast, body, emergency musculoskeletal, neurologic and nuclear medicine imaging. This course will include discussion of the most current techniques in each of these specialized imaging areas.

Target Audience

This program is designed for the practicing radiologist who may perform a combination of breast, body, thoracic, musculoskeletal, neurologic and nuclear medicine imaging.

Objectives

At the completion of this meeting, participants should be able to:

•Recognizetheimagingappearanceofdifferentstagesofrectal cancer on MRI.

•ApplyprotocolsforCTandMRIthatarebestforidentifying and characterizing bowel ischemia.

•Comparetheunderlyingcausesandimagingfindingsof bowel ischemia, including nonocclusive ischemia, arterial and venous occlusion and strangulation.

•DifferentiatetheCTandMRIfindingsofbowelischemiafound in various stages of chronicity.

•UtilizePETimagingtodifferentiateAlzheimer’sdiseasefrom other forms of dementia.

•Betterdetectbowelischemiainclinicalpracticeandrecommend appropriate management.

•ReviewtheepidemiologyofbluntabdominaltraumaandCTprotocolsusedinthatsetting.

•Discusstheimplicationoffreefluidandfreegasaswellasbowelfindingstodiagnosehollowviscousinjury.

•Reviewtheanatomyofthelowercranialnervesanddiscuss the use of MRI imaging in diagnosing lower cranial nerve pathology.

•Evaluatefindingsofinjuryinthemajorvesselsandsolid organs that allows assigning a grade to guide management and prognosis.

•Utilizeappropriatenuclearmedicineimagingtestsforthe diagnosis of osseous metastases.

•Identifythenormalandvariantanatomyoftheproximalhamstrings.

•Identifythepathoanatomyofdifferenttypesofhamstringinjuries.

•Utilizedigitalbreasttomosynthesisasasupplementaltool to decrease screening recall rates and improve breast cancer detection.

•DemonstrateincreasedaccuracyintheuseofCTperfusion imaging in the diagnosis of ischemia and tumor analysis.

•Reviewtheanatomyofthetemporalboneanddiscussthe use of MRI imaging in diagnosing temporal pathology.
