To the wonderful Website Team, who keep the Website so innovative and up-to-date. They are working hard to make it more fresh and inviting and more user friendly. A new look is coming soon and will hopefully be launched just before Lent.

    THE NEED TO KNOW

Front doors are locked after daily Mass. Side door (parking lot) will be open un-til 4pm during the week for Prayer.

There will be a “Holy Hour for Life” from 2-3pm on Friday, January 29th. We are looking to the possibility of hav-ing this available on Livestream.

We are working hard to ensure that parishioners receive their end-of-year contri-bution statements in a timely manner. If you have not received your contribution statement by the end of January, please contact the Parish Office (607-273-6121). Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support. Happy and better 2021. You and family are remembered in our prayers.

WINTER WEATHER GUIDELINES If there is a Winter Weather Warning, or the Ithaca City Schools close, the office will be CLOSED. 7:00am Masses will be cancelled, but 12:10pm Masses will still be held. Check the MyParish app as all updates will be listed. You can download the parish app by going to the app store on your cell phone and search for MyParish App. Once it is loaded, search for Immaculate Conception Church, Ithaca. Click on the parish and you are all set.

We are now at 60% of our $ 57, 152, CMA goal with 147 donors thus far. Thank you so much for those who have contributed to this appeal. We kindly appeal to those who are yet to make a contribution to do so. It would be wonderful to make a our goal be-fore the beginning of Lent. If you did not receive your envelope we have some at the parish office. Call or talk with any of the parish staff about this. Thank you again for your generosity.

CMA UPDATES February 17th, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Ash Wednesday remains a day of fasting and abstinence unless health conditions or other serious reasons do not make this observance possible . Please note that guidelines for the Distribution of Ashes, as directed by our Diocese and as rec-ommended by the Vatican will be observed. Recommendations regarding other blessings, such as the Memorial of St. Blaise will also be administered with care-ful concern due to the ongoing pandemic.

Beginning February, we will be offering a new Cornell Community Mass cele-brated by Fr. McMullin on Sundays at 1:00pm.. While this may involve more Cornell and Ithaca College students, this Mass is open to everyone wishing to attend. To see how this will work out with attendees, you will be required to pre-register for this Mass. We are pleased to be able to give our Community more possibilities for attend-ing weekend Masses.

Bishop Salvatore Matano will be the celebrant at Sacred Heart Cathedral for the Diocese of Rochester’s Mass for Life in anticipation of the National March for Life, January 29, 2021 at 7:00pm. Attendance is limited to 150 persons, pre-registration in required. (585-328-3228 x1218). ST. JOSEPH

How can we answer the call of Christ? In today’s Gos-pel we read about the call of the first four disciples who, after the resurrection, will become messengers of the Gospel– Apostles. Jesus calls and does not look back to see if the disciples are taking him up on his invitation. He calls another two and keeps going. Whoever wants to follow Jesus will not have it easy. The disciples must keep up with him. The call here does not come during prayers, but as they are going about their daily business. The call of Jesus is completely gratuitous; we follow Christ be-cause he has revealed the love of the Father to us without any merit on our art. Jesus continuous to call. Peter, Andrew, James and John answer immediately. They left everything and fol-lowed Jesus. We are also called to discipleship. Are we ready to respond here and now? We should allow nothing to keep us from faithfully following Christ. May the Lord grant us the grace and generosity to respond to the invitation to build and grow the kingdom of God.
