Adult Faith Formation Catholicism Series-Lesson #5
Monday, April 13th at 7:00 p.m.
Father Degagne continues his discussion and faith sharing using
the new video presentation “Catholicism”, produced by Father
Robert Barron’s “Word on Fire Ministry”. Father Barron teaches
the heart of our Catholic faith and tradition by taking us on a tour
of shrines and centers of belief in over 40 different countries.
Come and share and learn. All sessions will be held in “the upper
room” at the parish center. Handouts for Lesson #5 were emailed
the week of 5/5. If you do not have email but would like your
copy of the lesson prior to the meeting you can pick it up in the
Parish Office during office hours.

inquire about having your child baptized at Immaculate
Conception and to register for the Baptismal Preparation Class.
We ask that you refer to our website www.icceaston.org

parent sponsor forms are also available on our website. The next
class date is scheduled for May 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the

Mainspring Soup Kitchen
A ham, egg, and cheese baked casserole was
served with a mini cornbread loaf along with
salad and icebox dessert on Friday, May 3rd at
MainSpring House. What’s icebox dessert? A
delicious layered combination of graham crackers, vanilla pud-
ding, chocolate pudding, and whipped cream, drizzled with hot
fudge, and topped with a squirt of whipped cream! It’s yummy
and a favorite we bring a few times a year. Thank to you all the
volunteers who come when they can to make each month’s meal
a big success. Our next meal prep is on Thursday, June 6th at
5pm in the parish hall kitchen.
SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
Food For The Needy Drop non-perishable food items in baskets at the rear of the
Church. Food is delivered to My Brother’s Keeper on the first
Monday and to the Easton Food Pantry remaining Mondays.
Thanks to all who have made donations.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word Will Be Restored Soon
Organizational Meeting
May 20 at 7:00 PM in the Upper Room
The Children’s Liturgy of the Word will be restored in our parish
at the 10:15 am Mass. Children aged 4 through Grade 6 will be
invited to participate. At the point in the Mass when adults begin
the Liturgy of the Word, the children will be dismissed with the
adult leaders. They will go to other locations where they will hear
and share on the daily Gospel passage in an age appropriate
discussion. Teams of adults are needed for this ministry to take
place. Please contact the Religious Education Office if you wish
to participate. 4 teams of 4 adults each are needed for this
ministry to take place. A meeting will be scheduled when there
are enough adults to make this possible. For more information on
how you can help, contact the religious education office. Thanks
for your help.
Come To Father’s Lawn Party Everyone is invited to come to “FATHER’S LAWN PARTY”
on Saturday, May 18, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. No fancy
dress! No aperitifs! No hors d’oeuvres!
Just grubby clothes and work gloves!
Father Degagne will provide the early morning coffee and donuts,
snacks, and the noontime hot dogs and hamburgers.
You bring the rakes, shovels, edgers, wheel barrows, clippers and
anything else you might need to turn our church grounds into the
show piece of Main Street.
Donate flats of begonias or other flower. Do you have perennials
in your landscape that need dividing - especially daylilies or
sedum?
We will sweep up the winter sand, rebuild the flower beds around
the church and rectory, put down plantings, and spread mulch.
If you can’t do the yard work, come help prepare and serve
refreshments, distribute water and serve as sidewalk foreman.
If you are able to volunteer please fill out the form and drop it in
the collection baskets or you may call the Parish Office.

Loving God,
as a mother gives life and
nourishment to her children,
so you watch over your Church.
Bless these women,
that they may be strengthened
as Christian mothers.
Let the example of their faith
and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons and
daughters,
may honor them always
with a spirit of profound
respect.
Grant this through Christ our
Lord.
All Graduating Seniors You are invited to the parish Baccalaureate

milestone with you all.
If you are visiting and looking for a spiritual
home, we welcome you to Immaculate
Conception Parish. We hope that you find
the worship and liturgy uplifting and an
encouragement to your faith. Please consider registering as a
member of our church family. Please introduce yourself to
Father Degagne and if you would like to register you may call
the Parish Office or go online to www.icceaston.org.
While on Sabbatical in 2011, I took some cooking classes in
Siena, Italy at the Scuola di Cucina di Lella. (Visit
www.scuoladicucinadilella.net to check out even more recipes.)
Since my visit there, I have kept in touch with Lella Cesari
Ciampoli, the chef-teacher. She occasionally sends me recipes
me to try. This is one I tried recently which is inexpensive,
simple and delicious. It is a great dish for the summertime with
no cooking except for the pasta.
SPAGHETTI TOSSED WITH FRESH TOMATO AND
LEMON
6 large red Roma tomatoes, ripe and firm
1 clove of garlic
Zest of ½ un-waxed lemon
Juice of the ½ lemon
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
Salt
Pepper
¾ lb spaghetti
Mince the garlic clove and place in a large mixing bowl.
Peel the tomatoes if you want. Remove the seeds and then cut
the tomatoes into small cubes. Add the cut tomatoes to the
garlic.
Combine the olive oil, zest of the ½ lemon, lemon juice, and
salt and pepper. Add the oil mixture to the tomatoes and garlic.
Mix lightly just to moisten the tomatoes. Cover the dish and
leave to marinate at room temperature for about an hour. Toss
with the hot, drained spaghetti. Serve immediately.
Serves 4 people.
Buon mangiare
Fr. Rick Degagne
P.S. I am in the process of
planning a parish trip to Italy –
Venice, and Rome. It will likely
include a stop in Siena and a
session with Lella at her school.
Keep watching here and on the
parish website,
www.icceaston.org for more
information. Contact me at [email protected] if you are

Calling any musician, vocalist, or
technical wizard!
Currently, I am organizing a concert for the
end of the summer here at Immaculate Conception Church. I
am looking for performers and volunteers who wish to help
with the concert in any way.
Getting involved with music can be life-changing, exciting, and
just what the soul needs! It cannot hurt to try something new or
even resurrect something past. If you want to be a part of a
memorable night and the beginning page to a thriving Musical
Parish, contact the Music Director Chris Pelonzi.
And if Concerts or Recitals scare you, there are always so many
other music ministries. Check out the music page on the
