    RECOMMENDATIONS

The idea of implementation of HISshould be well delivered andconceived by the users.

The HIS product should covermaximum functionalities andshould have flexibility of

    customization. Rigourous and continuous training.

Setting up of local and centralized IT

    department.

A STUDY ON COMPUTERLITERACY LEVEL IN NURSES OF

    REGIONAL HOSPITAL, SOLAN

  • 8/6/2019 Implement a Ion of His

    18/28

    OBJECTIVE

To ascertain the level of computer

literacy among nurses of DistrictHospital Solan, prior to

implementation of HIS in order todetermine the need of trainingrequired and hence develop a

    comprehensive training plan.

    METHODOLOGY

STUDY DESIGN a quantitative studywas conducted on a Sample Size of 25nurses. The nurses were selectedrandomly based on there availability to

answer the questions, the ranged withinthe age group of 30- 40 years.

AREA OF STUDY the study wasconducted in REGIONAL HOSPITAL,SOLAN in HIMACHAL PRADESH whileperforming Requirement Analysis forImplementation of HIS by HISP- INDIA in

    the same.

TOOLS OF DATA COLLECTION aclosed ended questionnaire was

designed consisting of 15 questionsaimed at detemining knowledge of

    Basic computer operation andfunction

    Word processing skills

    Internet & Web skills

    Multimedia & Email skills

    The responses thus collected were

fed on a excel sheet and graphs

    RESULT

From the study it comes out that

majority of the nurses have minimalcomputer knowledge in basicfunctionalities, world processingskills, internet and web skill as wellas email skills.

Thus, there is great need of trainingof nurses before going for HIS

implementation as computerilliteracy is one of the major reasonfor reluctance in end users.

    RECOMENDATIONS

It is important to infuse a level ofunderstanding and motivation in the usersfirst by briefing them about the virtualchange to occur in future.

A training design has to be structured

laying focus on basic computer knowledgeinitially.

As nurses have a hectic schedule, training in2 shifts morning and evening should beplanned when the workload is less.

Individual attention as well as recognizingearly learners, who can motivate others, would help in achieving successfultraining objective.

A session on working knowledge of Englishlanguage.
