OutlineBCM Program ManagementBCM must be owned and fully integrated into the organization as an embedded management process. The course begins by taking a close look at the major elements of developing a business continuity program and the role of top management to provide the support necessary to develop a successful program.

The foundation must be built on a BCM policy and an understanding of the needs and expectations of interested parties. Lesson 1 looks at the context of the organization, defining the scope and objectives of the system, the provision of resources and documentation requirements.

Understanding Your OrganizationIn order to understand your organization it is essential that a proper Business Impact Analysis based on ISO 22317 is completed along with a Risk Assessment based on ISO 31000. The information gathered during this process is used for mitigating and managing risks and developing strategies to continue and recover interrupted operations. Learn how to conduct a proper BIA and RA using sound business rationale to ensure the continuity of the organization’s mission and objectives. Included in the course is a BIA and RA tool. Also included in information on alignment to ISO 22318 on Supply Chain Continuity

Plan DevelopmentDetermining and implementing a BCM response is key to the success or failure of a BCM program. The focus of this lesson is to provide management with an understanding of the different types of plans each organization should have in place in order to ensure continuity. It covers the basics of plan development and how to structure the program and plans. It includes specific plans and procedures such as Incident Response, Communications, Business Continuity, and Recovery.

Awareness, Training, Testing & ExercisingTo be successful BCM has to be taken for granted as part of normal business management, regardless of size or sector. At all points in the BCM process, opportunities exist to introduce and enhance an organization’s BCM culture. This is done through awareness & training by evaluating the current level of awareness and commitment to BCM against the desired level.

A business continuity management program is not complete without its having been tested and exercised by its people to ensure that the plans are executable. This lesson explores testing & exercising the plan to ensure a business continuity capability based on guidelines in ISO 22398.

Program Evaluation, Improvement, & the Internal AuditA BCM program cannot become a management system or be sustainable unless it is evaluated, improved, and audited. Learn how to set up a program improvement system for your business continuity program and ensure that the BCM program developed becomes part of the system of the organization.

DescriptionLearn how to deliberately design resilience into your management of people, places, infrastructure and work processes necessary to meet the challenges of a 21st century world. Implementing ISO 22301 is a 3 day instructor-led course
