Natural Benefits of Fruits:

• Taking fruits is the most pleasant way to hydrate the organisms. It has an added advantage of supplying minerals and sugar at the same time.

• Clinical observations have shown that potassium, magnesium and sodium contents of fruit act as a diuretic as well as diuresis. It lowers the urine density and accelerates the elimination of nitrogenous waste.

• The organic acids of salts in fruit produce alkaline carbonates. It promotes intestinal elimination, remove toxic wastes from body.

• Carbohydrates of fruits are primarily in form of sugar, dextrin and acids which is easily absorbable in the body. Hence, they are useful for sick and worthless for quick energy and heat.

• Fruits provide minerals in the body. Dried fruits such as apricots, raisins, dates are rich in calcium and iron. Some fruits like custard apple make calcium up to 800 mg per fruit which is sufficient to meet mineral requirement of the body.

• The fibrous matter- cellulose aids in smooth passage of food in the digestive tract and enables easy bowel movements. The sugars and organic acids increase the laxative effect of fruits, hence regular use of fruit cures constipation.

• Fruits exert a tonic effect in the body because of its dependable sources of vitamins. Guavas, custard apple and citrus fruits like lemons, oranges, and amla are rich source of vitamin C. these are usually eaten as raw and fresh, thus making the vitamins available to the body. Several fruits contain good amount of carotene which gets converted into vitamin A in the body.

• Fruits are best eaten as raw and in ripe state. When cooked, they lose portions of nutrient salts and carbohydrates. They are most beneficial when taken as a separate meal in the morning as breakfast.

• Fruits are highly beneficial in maintaining acid-alkaline balance in the body. They help to clear the body’s morbid waste and cater to the body’s requirement of natural sugar, vitamins and minerals.

• Fasting is considered as Nature’s oldest and most effective method of treating disease. The best and safest way of fasting is “juice fasting”. Take the juice of orange or any other juicy fruits like grapes, mosambi and pineapple, diluted in the ration of 50:50 with water and have after every two hours. Canned or frozen fruit juices should not be used. Total daily liquid intake should be six to eight glasses per day.

Moreover certain fruits can combat specific aliments. It has been found that fruit sugars, calcium, iron, vitamin A, B-complex and C control the gradation of heart energy. The phosphorus, glutamic acid, vitamin A and B –complex exert protective and tonic effects on the nerves. Hence, the regular use of these fruits (apple, date, and mango) in the diet will sharpen memory and prevent nervous exhaustion, mental stress, hysteria, insomnia.

All berries are rich in iron, phosphorous, sodium and it is beneficial for body building and nerve strengthening. The soothing qualities of pineapple and pomegranates are helpful in catarrh, high fever, in other chronic nasal and bronchial aliments.

A generous intake of fruits in the diet will enable a person to lead a healthy life. Fruits prevent all diseases, keep person smart, energetic and active throughout the life.
