“Fabulous show. A must for any Iberian horse lover. A lovely welcoming show for the professional or novice. It just gets bigger and better every year!!”

DAYTIME EVENTSWe pride ourselves on being a show for the amateur AND professional. Our show team will look after you from the minute you arrive until you head home. We want you to feel confident , comfortable and able to show your horses off to their very best. We always see many quality horses, but believe showing should be fun and accessible to ALL. The team will support you in the stables, collecting ring, and arenas - we are there for you all the way, with dedicated team members in each area.

THE GALA NIGHTS2019 saw a sell-out gala night, a new preview night to watch the rehearsal and over 800 on site over the weekend. Once again visitors were wowed by the sheer beauty and talent of the horses of Spain and Portugal. Every year world class horse people wow the crowds under an enormous professional sound and light system - we’ve seen it all - traditional garrocha work, horses galloping through fire, magical horses dancing in fairy lights, incredible liberty work, flamenco dancers and much more besides. And the after party for competitors is not to be missed with music and dancing into the night!

This year will be very different due to the extraordinary circumstances we find ourselves in, but we will do everything we can to ensure another amazing weekend - the Show must go on! The Gala nights will take place in a new intimate format, with very limited seating. Any questions, please do ask! We look forward to welcoming you in Devon.

Year 7 for the biggest show dedicated to the Iberian horse in the UK will take place on the 4-6th September 2020, at The Grange, Devon

16) FRI / SAT / SUN (Both arenas) - AFFILIATED WORKING EQUITATION National Competition run by the Association for British Working EquitationNovice / Intermediate / Advanced / Juniors / U16s ANY breed can enter. £50 for all phases.

Main Arena - Fri 1pm Dressage. Sat - Outdoor Arena - Ease of Handling and Novice speed rounds including banks.Intermediate, Advanced and Junior speed rounds. Cattle penning phase Sunday 10am, contact the Association for phase 4 entrant criteria.Judges - Fiona Price Jones and Dr Patricia Milligan ....................................................... Sponsor - Shaws Iberian Wines

THE SPORT OF WORKING EQUITATIONThe sport of Working Equitation is the ultimate outcome of the development of the horse as a working animal. Horses were originally domesticated and trained for farming and herding purposes, work which required them to respond to their rider whatever terrain and difficulties they may face. The sport is a highly refined and sophisticated demonstration of these activities, but with the added required quality of elegance and speed of execution. It comprises 3 phases. Dressage, Ease of handling, Speed and at International level (and rarely at National Level) cattle penning.

The Association of British Working Equitation are the only official governing body of the sport in Great Britain. ABWE are responsible for organising National competitions throughout the country, assisting in the organisation of regional competitions, Team selection and the promotion and growth of Working Equitation within Great Britain.

Fri 5th Sept - Working Equitation Dressage PhaseIndoor arena - 1pm start

The dressage phase is much like that of a normal dressage test although some of the movements are performed slightly differently. At the highest level it involves some Grand Prix movements being performed with the use of just one hand.

Sat 6th Sept - Working Equitation Ease of Handling PhaseOutdoor arena including banks and ditches - 10am start

The ease of handling test consists of a course of obstacles, replicating those that may be found when working in the countryside. For example, a gate, a bridge and a jump. There are also other more technical obstacles such as the parallel slalom, straight slalom and barrels all of which at Advanced level require the horse and rider to perform flying changes in specific places in order to perform the obstacle correctly. Riders are given a mark out of ten for precision, submission and ease of movement for each obstacle.

Sat 6th Sept - Working Equitation Speed RoundsIndoor arena - 6pm start

The Working Equitation Speed rounds will take place at approx 6pm - open to daytime ticket holders AND evening ticket holders to beging the evenings entertainment. The En la Ronda Arena will then be built ready for evening guests to have their arrival drinks and watch the evening performances

The speed test involves some or all of the same obstacles tackled in the ease of handling test but is purely marked on the time it takes for the horse and rider to complete to course. Time faults and bonuses can occur according to specific obstacles Working Equitation is a real test of the horses temperament and training, the riders skill and ability and of course the relationship between horse and rider.
