1. Do NOT overtighten any of the Adjustment Knobs. The locking screws in the tripod are all metal on metal. Nonetheless, if you overtighten any of them, you risk stripping out the screw threads or cracking the plastic around the metal.

2. Open and Close Leg Spread Slowly and Evenly. To spread the legs of the tripod, you can do this by pulling outward on two of the legs. This will cause the center column collar to move down the center column. In order for the legs to open properly, the collar must move down slowly and evenly. For the final 1-2 inches of opening, it is best to push down directly on the collar and not continue to pull on the legs. Similarlon the legs. Similarly, when closing the leg spread, it is best for the first 1-2 inches to pull up on the collar. Once the collar has moved up the center column 1-2 inches you can then push in gently on two of the tripod legs to fully close the leg spread.

If this happens, make sure the leg is straight again before closing. Never force a leg section to close if it is not closing smoothly.

4. Pan and tilt. When you are panning or tilting, make sure the pan lock knob or tilt lock handle is loose.
