Replacement

Installation and Maintenance

Installation

Installation

• Before installation please check the following parts– Wear strips (No glass or metal)– Drive sprockets and idler – Return part

Installation• Catenary

Installing tabletop chains

• Important:– Running Direction

– Mounting pins in plastic chains

Installing modular belts

• Important Note:Running direction is not important, only position of PosiTrack

• Are all clips in place?

Installing sprockets for modular belts

• Install sprockets with arrows in the same direction

Installation sprockets for modular belts

• Belts with PosiTrack > do not fix sprockets

Belts without positrack > fix centre sprocket

Maintenance

Maintenance

Checklist

• Do the chains shown unusual wear patterns ?

• Is the chain surface still OK ?

• Is he elongation still acceptable ?

• Do the chains run smoothly?

• Is the adjustments of transfer and dead plates OK ?

• Are the sprockets still in proper condition ?

Maintenance

Checklist

• Does the area around the sprockets collect a lot of dirt ?

• Are the sprockets fixed properly ?

• Are the wear strips still in proper conditions ?

• Does the lubrication system work properly ?

• Are the corner tracks still in good condition ?

• Do the chains shown any sign of chemical damage ?

• Is the catenary sag not to big ?

Cleaning

Cleaning

Improper cleaning will result in:

• Damage and dirt to products conveyed

• Increased chain load and motor load

• Increase of sprocket wear

• Increased wear of wear strips

• Sticking of chains to the sprockets

Cleaning

Important aspects of cleaning

• Cleaning away of broken products

• Use warm water and soap

• Cleaning agent must be suitable with chain materials

• In lubrication agent, cleaning agent can be included

Cleaning Agents

Consider the following :

• pH-value between 4 and 10 for stainless steel chains• Neutral pH value for plastic chains

Frequent cleaning only with pH > 7 and <10 (weekly) Rare cleaning with pH >4 and <6 (monthly with very good rinsing)

• no free chlorine

• no ammonium

• no phosphoric acid

• no halogenic agents

Cleaning

• Lubrication should be on top of the chain and underneath the chain

• At curves we recommend to lubricate the inside of the corners

• If the conveyor can not be lubricated during normal running, we recommend to lubricate during a stop

• By putting mineral oil on side flexing chain, the lifetime can be increased significantly

• Roller chains should be additionally lubricated before installation

Replacement

Replacing Tabletop chains

• Elongation• Maximum 3% elongation (762 mm > 784 mm)

• Cause– Worn hinges

– worn pins

New: 20 links = 762mm Replace if : 20 links > 784mm

Replacing TableTop Chains

• If plate thickness is reduced to half of original plate thickness– Normal wear:

– Uneven wear:

– Wear of hinges:

– Uneven wear:

Replacing Modular Chains

• Modular belt replacement:• Maximum 3% elongation• Thickness 50% of original thickness • Belt is jumping on the sprockets• Damaged end modules

Comparison old and new Positrack Design for Modular Chains• Old Design (FTP or FGP Series)

• New Double Positrack Design (FTDP or FGDP Series)

Replacing Curves

• Magnetflex Curve Replacement

Replacing Curves - Curve Installation

Replacing Curves - Guide Shoe Position

Replacing Curves – Chainbelts (Series 105X and 1060)

Replacement of Components

• Wear Strips– Glass / metal has embedded in the wear strips– uneven wear

• Return Rollers– Glass or metal is embedded in the rollers– Do the rollers rotate

• Sprockets– If chain is replaced due to elongation– Damaged teeth
