Offley Hoo farm visit

A massive thank you to Farmer Alan and his team for allowing preschool to visit, Wasn’t it a blast? We are so lucky to have this resource on our doorstep.

We will be asking all parents to sign a suntan application letter. This will allow staff to administer individually named sun lotion throughout the session. We cannot use other children's sun cream due to allergies.

Sunny Weather

As many of the children receive their Reception allocations as we return we will be working closely with yourselves and the allocated schools to make transition run as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or concerns please get in touch. We would love you to inform us of your allocation which in turn will allow us to assist you in preparing your child by adding uniforms to our dressing up, reading several stories and speaking about changes such as dining rooms, new teachers and similarities.

Transitions

As your children return after the holidays we will be learning about animals and their babies linking this to the delivery of our chick eggs and incubator anticipating the birth of Offley chicks. Our crafts and activities will focus around the chicks as we host them for 10days. As a setting we have risk assessments and care plans for this activity. Please share this experience with your child, perhaps visiting the incubator daily to observe the changes as well as follow their progress via the website pictures and blog.

IMPORTANT INFORMATIONPlease notify us as soon as possible to

any information changes. To become more environmentally

friendly we would like to send as much information out as possible via email.PLEASE MAKE SURE WE HAVE A CORRECT EMAIL ADDRESS and

PHONE NUMBER.

Websitewww.offley-preschool.org Please take a look when you get a chance. The website is updated frequently. We welcome any comments or suggestions.

Just a reminder that in line with our Safeguarding policy, mobile phones are not to be used on the premises. Your child will not be handed over to you until you have hung up your conversation, Please refrain from having your phone out on site. Thank you.

Mobile Phones

Policy on Sickness reminder: Children must remain off of school until they have been 24HOURS clear of all symptoms. We will be firm on this.Coughs and colds are fine if your child feels well enough for school.

Activities – Themes of interest

This half term we will be looking at the Theme Spring, alongside feelings. Your children will be carrying out many crafts focusing on springtime animals and changes in the environment. We would love you to be part of this by looking at changes when you are out and about, snowdrops, blossom, buds sprouting through the mud. Activities on Feelings is something we feel the children will benefit from such as face plates, feely bag and emotional snap alongside children's own interests.

We will be offering an opportunity for you to speak to your child’s key person about their progress and any concerns (especially important for those children moving forwards), although our door is always open this allows a dedicated time. A copy of your Childs latest report is ready alongside two year checks for those that require them.

Parents evening

Collection of children

If for any reason you cannot collect your child, we need to know who is coming in your place, for everyone's protection we will ask for a password. Understanding that many children go to play at friends houses, you may feel it unnecessary that we ask when your child goes home with another Childs parent. Again this is just good practice, making all staff aware. As emergencies happen, last minute changes, we are asking that every child at pre-school has a password, this will resolve safeguarding issues.

We will reinstate our fortnightly outings into the community this will happen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All children will be involved. We will need permission slips and appropriate clothing for your child. Facebook and email will keep you informed.

Getting out and about

Music Train

Music Train seemed successful, we have booked another two sessions for this term as well as looking into other options moving forward. Please continue to ask your children their opinion. If you have any suggestions please get in touch.

Additional Sessions – Space permitted

Our opening hours are Mon, Fri 8.50-1pm and Tue, Wed, Thur 8.50-3pm.We offer one off additional sessions when required – Payment must be made on the day.

Pottery

Your children were given an opportunity to paint an egg cup before Easter, returned with chocolates courtesy of Oliver’s mum (Charlotte). Thank you. Charlotte runs a pottery business similar to pots of art, a leaflet will be waking its way to you shortly.
