Our PARISH STEWARDSHIP RENEWAL 2019 Thank you to those who have supported our Parish Stewardship Renewal and especially on last weekend “Commitment Response Weekend”. The Renewal Team is currently compleng some fol- low up of parishioners who have not responded. However, there is sll room for improvement. Your completed Parish Ministry Choice forms and Financial Commitment Cards can be placed on the collecon plate TODAY, handed in aſter Mass or returned to the Parish Office this week at the latest, as we need to finalise the responses next week. Please leave your name at the Parish Office. ON A LIGHTER NOTE A guy walks into a bar and orders 3 beers. The bartender pours them for him. He then takes equal sips from each beer and proceeds to do so until all glasses are empty. He pays and leaves. He does this every day for a week before the bartender decides to ask what that's all about. “Why do you come in and order three beers, and then take equal sips from them until they are empty?” asks the bartender. The guy re- plies “Well, I've got three brothers. We used to meet up every evening for a beer, but they had to move out of town. So we've decided that each of us will drink three beers every day, one for each of us.” The bartenders curiosity is sated. The guy continues to do this for about a month, until he comes in one day and orders only two beers. “I'm sorry for your loss”, says the bartender. The guy is confused, and then says “Oh no, nobody died. I just quit drinking.” This weekend is our First Eucharist Weekend. I see joyful faces for our students at St Mark’s, their parents, relatives and teachers. It has been a journey of learning and loving Jesus and the Community. I see their families in the last four Sundays in our parish and just last Thursday there was a Mass and slide presentation of meal time with their families. Such a lovely comparison of a family meal and a community/ spiritual gathering around the altar or table of our Lord Jesus. May our love for Jesus bring us to love our brothers and sisters in need through Vinnies as we listen to their winter appeal this weekend. Jesus in the Gospel needed a "quick reply" from His followers . Those expressions of Jesus didn't mean for us to neglect our responsibilities with our family, but He had an intention to say with conviction we need "now" and 'immediately" followers and workers for the Kingdom of God. Fr Jimmy NATSICC ELDER AWARD 2019 Brenda Stubbs of Port Pirie has won the NATSICC Elder Award and Sr Marianne Zienstra rsj will present her with a cerficate on Sunday, 14th July in the Cathedral at 10.30am Mass.
