Funders, Universities and Open Access
The number of research funders requiring Open Access to scientific publications is increasing. The Swedish Research Council (VR), NIH and the European Research Council are examples of funders that require grantees to make publications available to all for free. Many universities also have open access policies. The policy of BTH was created 2007 and states that a copy of all scientific peer-reviewed documents should be submitted to the repository if copyright admits this.
Provide Open Access to your workThere are two basic approaches to make research findings Open Access. One is to publish in Open Access journals. The other is to deposit a copy of every journal- or conference article in an Open Access repository like the one at BTH, so called self-archiving. Most publishers allow authors to self-archive a so called post-print - the last author version that has been peer-reviewed but does not include the final publisher proof-corrections or journal pagination.
