WHAT IS A NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSE?

Alphington Community Centre

Neighbourhood Houses are a great way to meet new people, make friends, improve your wellbeing and become involved in your community. They provide programs and activities that can help you learn new skills, transition to work and further study, become a volunteer and find out about other services or activities in the area.

Neighbourhood Houses provide social, educational and recreational activities for their community in a welcoming and supportive environment. There are six Neighbourhood Houses in Darebin.

This resource includes details of each of the six Neighbourhood Houses in Darebin and activities and programs that are currently running. If you would like more information about these activities, you can contact the Neighbourhood House directly.

“ Working & studying in my local area has given me the freedom to achieve. I started at Preston Neighbourhood House as a Beginner’s English student over 12 years ago. I studied for my Childcare qualification here and now I am blessed to work here. As a mum of four children, I would not have been able to do this anywhere else.
