The Master Programme has become

an essential step in the development of a professional future. Based on the real needs of our students, we have designed the MA programmes at the Department of International Relations and European Integration at SNSPA with the strategic objective to provide essential skills needed in building a successful career adapted to the 21st century dynamic professional background.

DIREI offers a wide range of master programmes, combining a rigorous and intellectually challenging environment with specialized training in various international relations-related fields. The philosophy of the current MA programmes meets the specific needs of training in both general and niche type specialties. Along with our classic MA programmes (International Relations and

European Integration, Analysis and Conflict Resolution, European Politics and Economics), in recent years we have focused on introducing new professional specializations dedicated to the emerging field of evaluation (the Evaluation of European Public Policies and Projects) and to the new developments in diplomacy (Security and Diplomacy taught in English in the tradition of the NATO related MA) and in Romanian - Diplomacy and Negotiation, and two other Master programmes taught in English which are unique in the Romanian academic environment - Latin American Studies and International Development, Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid.

The MA programmes at DRIIE are suitable for a broad range of graduates in the fields of International Relations, European Studies, Political Science, Communication, Management, Economics, Public Administration, History, as well as Foreign Languages, Literature, Sociology, or Philosophy. Our 2-year programmes address the needs of all persons, from Romania and abroad, who want to complete their studies and to increase their chances of occupying a position within the EU institutions, the UN, NATO, OSCE, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organization, as well as in national and local administration, and the non-governmental sector. The field of International Relations and European integration is fascinating and appealing due to its trans-disciplinary approach. In the current professional context marked by globalization, knowledge in the field of global politics has increasingly become a necessary asset. Therefore, our academic programmes emphasise the dimension of professional tutoring and mentorship for a career in these fields. Graduates of our MA programmes acquire or complete their training to become diplomats, specialists and negotiators in international institutions and organizations, experts in ministries, county councils, municipalities, evaluators of public policies and programmes, experts in European funds, mediators of international conflicts, etc.

With a vast experience of over 20 years in post-graduate studies, DRIIE has developed an academic community and professional network which includes teachers, researchers, current students, PhD students in international relations and a wide alumni network. Being an MA student at DRIIE brings interaction with experts, participation in the discussions on the most challenging debates of the global agenda, professional connections and perhaps even the start of a new career. I encourage you to take a decisive step in your career together with DRIIE!

The programme is also addressed to civil servants in the central government, working in international relations, and aiming to improve their analytical performance and expertise in the fields of security and diplomacy.

DEVELOPMENT, INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AND HUMANITARIAN AID

PRESENTATIONThe programme assigns a particular

importance to a better understanding of certain problems in the development field: cooperation, poverty, environment, economic development, social and human development. LATIN-AMERICAN STUDIESPRESENTATION

The Master’s Program in Latin American Studies is an initiative of the Institute of Latin American Studies and the Department of International Relations and European Integration of the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration, and is the first program of this kind in Romania. We emphasize that this program is bilingual, in Spanish and English, so that the courses are held in two internationally used languages, vital for facilitating students’ access to information, documents and resources of the Latin America and Caribbean region. The bilingual courses also

create the possibility for students to come from other countries than Romania.

The program aims to become a regional point of interest for people who want to complete their training in international relations and to acquire expertise in Latin American issues. Designing such a program came from the need to meet the demands and changes occurring in the international system, the states in Latin America becoming more interesting for the international community. We will try through the courses to familiarize the students with

developments in Latin America and the Caribbean, to analyze phenomena that led the various economic, social and political activities, to predict the relations between states in this area and other relevant actors in the international system.

These acquired skills can also be applied through the involvement of students in the activities developed within the Institute of Latin American Studies, which is an integrated part of the National University.
