It was a very busy month at Westervelts! We werefortunate to connect with so many families duringProgress Report Interviews in mid-November. It'sgreat to build partnerships with home and school.

Our K-9 kids represented Westervelts at the Junior FirstLego League. Thanks to Mr. Ambury and Mr. Bond forsupporting our students!

We had an amazing Cooperative Assembly. Thank youfor attending and watching our students perform!

Our November School Council tea was an amazingsuccess! We had a great turnout and conversationsabout supporting children with mathematics and self-regulation.

We had a visit from Scientists in the School in theGrade 4 classes for some engaging science activities. Thank you for your continued support!

December came fast this year andit is a busy month in the library!The Forest of Reading is about tobegin. Every year, the OntarioLibrary Association (OLA) hostsCanada's largest recreationalreading program called the Forestof Reading. The programcelebrates new Canadian authorsand illustrators through schooland public libraries. There are 8categories for students in englishand french from kindergarten tograde 12 and 2 categories foradults. Each category is namedafter a native Canadian tree.Westervelts will be running 3categories called Blue Spruce,Silver Birch Express, and SilverBirch. Before we break for thewinter holidays the students ingrades 3 to 5 who wish toparticipate will be bringing homebooks to read over the holidays.The kindergarten to grade 2students will start in the new year.Can't wait!

Closing Schools due to Bad Weather

Ontario Early Years Drop-In CentreAvailable for Westervelts Families

During the winter months, we may need to cancel buses or closeschools because of inclement weather. Information regardingdetails of cancellations or closures will be announced on radio andtelevision stations listed below and posted at www.peelschools.org,school websites and www.stopr.ca. Information will also beavailable on Twitter (@PeelSchools), Facebook(www.facebook.com/peelschools) or by calling 905-890-1010 or 1-800-668-1146.

One of the following messages will be announced:

Peel District School Board buses are cancelled. This means that schools remain open for students and staff, butbuses are cancelled. Bus cancellations could occur in all or parts ofmunicipalities. Buses will remain cancelled all day. All activities thatrequire busing will also be cancelled. Permits, night school classes,child care and other activities in schools will operate as usual.
