In pairs you are going to design a

religious symbols.

A stained glass window company have asked for some help…They need an

interesting, eye catching new design for a stained glass window including religious

symbols.

What? You are working in pairs. You will need to produce an A3 sized stained glass window design for the company. How?You must choose the religion that is going to be represented in your stained glass window – it can be Christianity, Islam or Judaism. The stained glass window can only include symbols from these religions – it can’t include any other pictures (E.g. Islam never have pictures of Allah or Muhammad). The stained glass window can include words, but they are more difficult to put onto glass & so the fewer, the better!Your design must be eye-catching & colourful. You need to know – if you are using words in a Jewish design, Jews would never write the word ‘God’ because it is such a holy word for them, instead they would write ‘G_d’.

How do we work together? Each person in the pair must put in their fair share of work. Think about the ‘Fair Play Rules’.

How long? You only have today’s lesson & today’s homework to finish the window design.

What materials will you have? You will have A3 white paper, pencil crayons, felts & your exercise books. You can also use anything you bring in from home.

How will your work be evaluated? You will evaluate each other’s work, according to the criteria you will set for yourselves.Your teacher will also be a representative from the stained glass window company & will decide which designs the company are going to use.The groups whose designs are chosen to be used will be rewarded.

To do well in football you need to play by the ‘Fair Play Rules’.

These mean that: All members of the team consider each other. All members of the team play for each other (it’s a team effort!) People don’t foul each other. It’s the team that will do well (or not!) not individual members. The team plays to it’s strengths. All team members work hard for each other.

What do the fair play rules mean for us in our classroom today?

In your own words, in the back of your books, write down what you have to do in this challenge. Don’t put any of your own ideas down yet, just stick to writing down what I’ve just told you, in your own words.

You have today’s homework to finish the stained glass window design – It must be finished by the start of next lesson.

Discuss as a pair…What do you need to do for today’s homework to get the stained glass window design finished?

Decide on your homework as a pair & write it in your planners.
