Public Documents: Service: Prisoner in 1759 and "lost his Captain's Commission," see Co- lonial Series II, 1763 page 79. Jacob Klock, Esq. was made Colonel (reap- pointed) 25 June, 1778, Council of Appointments in Poughkeepsie, page 38. First Judge of Court of Common Pleas, Tryoti County November 4, 1778, pa^e 52 and 47. Also note, in same document Jacob "G." Klock, Esq. was made 6 March 1779 Coroner. Tryon county adn J. P., page 62, 69. Was at Oriskany. Went through the seven years of the Revolution as Sen- Officer of the Vallev Militia, was in actual command but never .attained the rank held by General Herkimer, because of jealousies of his Colonels, mainly William Harper. See Clinton Papegs. IV. p. 577. Harper said, "wee might as well have a old woman at the head of our molitti." His own Regiment consisted of 110 privates, 89 officers and non-coms. Of course they complained. They all wished to be colonel. Wills: Will of her father Frederick the First, 1764-8, mentions her as wife of Jacob Klock, Esquire. That title meant something then, long before the days of lightning rod agents and tree peddlers who wrote Esq. after the name of every possible purchaser ad- dressed. Col. Klock was executor of the will of 2 Frederick 1. I have the original official court copy, provided the Col. as Administrator. Col. Klock's will was date 8 May 1798. He died 11 May 1798. The papers covering the administra- tion of his will are very full. There were some hints of incompetence be- cause of his continually saying, "Where is Elizabeth," thinking he re- ferred to a granddaughter. To me it is extremely pathetic to observe in the gathering darkness of the "valley of the shadow of death" how his mind reverted to the one he needed in his sickness, the one ho loved, the one he repeatedly called for, on whom he had always relied, the mother of his child- ren, his first wife who had died more than 30 years before The Ancestor Backward, turn backward Oh! time in thy flight Give us an ancestor. Spurious or right. Wind up the Klocks That so long have run down. Hands up, old Klocks! And bring us renown. Pillars of salt We stand looking hick. Lost to all freshness, Far from the track. We are content with The speed of the tortoise. Can we but join With the Sons or the Daughters. Hunt out the graveyards, study the bones. Dig up the skeletons. Rattle their bones. Juggle the records. Give them a shake-up. Make us descendants Of old Colonel Jacob. Backward, turn backward Oh! time in thy spite, Quench today's sunlight In yesterday's night! Carah .Ternigan Nellis. March, 1928. Do you have any data on the following: Ona September 16, 1751 a man nam- ed Daniel Zoller sailed from Rotter- dam on a boat of Ship Brothers. He seems to be the only one I can find that is Holland Dutch and I have al- ways been informed we were Hol- land Dutch. I also find there was a Daniel Zil- ler died in 1835. Public Documents: Service: Prisoner in 1759 and "lost

his Captain's Commission," see Colonial Series II, 1763 page 79. Jacob Klock, Esq. was made Colonel (reappointed) 25 June, 1778, Council of Appointments in Poughkeepsie, page 38. Firs t Judge of Court of Common Pleas, Tryoti County November 4, 1778, pa^e 52 and 47. Also note, in same document Jacob "G." Klock, Esq. was made 6 March 1779 Coroner. Tryon county adn J. P., page 62, 69. Was at Oriskany. Went through the seven years of the Revolution as Sen-Officer of the Vallev Militia, was in actual command but never .a t tained the rank held by General Herkimer , because of jealousies of his Colonels, mainly William Harper . See Clinton Papegs. IV. p. 577. Harpe r said, "wee might a s well have a old woman a t the head of our molitti." His own Regiment consisted of 110 privates, 89 officers and non-coms. Of course they complained. They all wished to be colonel.

Wills: Will of her father Frederick the

First , 1764-8, mentions her as wife of Jacob Klock, Esquire . Tha t title meant something then, long before the days of lightning rod agents and tree peddlers who wrote Esq. after the name of every possible purchaser addressed.

Col. Klock was executor of the will of 2 Frederick 1. I have the original official court copy, provided the Col. as Administrator.

Col. Klock's will was date 8 May 1798. He died 11 May 1798.

The papers covering the administration of his will are very full. There were some hints of incompetence because of his continually saying, "Where is Elizabeth," th inking he referred to a granddaughter . To me it is extremely pathetic to observe in the gathering darkness of the "valley of the shadow of death" how his mind reverted to the one he needed in his sickness, the one ho loved, t he one he repeatedly called for, on whom he had always relied, the mother of his children, his first wife who had died more than 30 years before

The Ancestor Backward, turn backward Oh! time in thy flight Give us an ancestor. Spurious or right. Wind up the Klocks That so long have run down. Hands up, old Klocks! And bring us renown. Pillars of salt We stand looking h ick . Lost to all freshness, Far from the t rack. We are content with The speed of the tortoise. Can we but join With the Sons or the Daughters . Hunt out the graveyards, s tudy the bones. Dig up the skeletons. Ratt le their bones. Juggle the records. Give them a shake-up. Make us descendants Of old Colonel Jacob. Backward, turn backward Oh! time in thy spite, Quench today's sunlight In yesterday's night!

I am taking one of tnose tour trips and stopped to see a friend at Camp Callan, Calif. He had an Enterprise and News and in it I saw your query about the Zoller family. I am also interested in a Daniel Zoller but do not know whom he married. Do you have any data on the following:

I should like information in regard to my grandmother Clarissa Bellinger who was born in 1806 and lived a t Mt. Morris, New York at the time of the 1850 census. She was the wife of Christopher Bellinger but I have no record of their marr iage and do not know her name before he r marriage and although I had an idea it was Miller.

WELLS f

Correction

i am sorry but data under above heading in issue of July 24, 1941 is wrong Through my carelessness the Wells da ta was mixed with that of Seth King.

What I want is ancestry of Stephen B. Wells. Compendium of American Ancestry, Vol. VI, page 614 gives a little. Stephen B. Wells (1823-1904) removed from Holland Patent and Floyd T., Oneida county, N. Y. to Ashtabula, Ohio, married 1846 Catherine Boothe. I want to know about all the Wells, early in Holland Patent, Floyd and Trenton townships, Oneida county, N, Y., especially if they lived near Edward or Joseph Andrew Gran-nis.
