MMeessssaaggee from the
President of
Peninsular Malaysia Mission (PEM), Pr Leong Fai
SSEENNSSEE OOFF UURRGGEENNCCYY Therefore said he unto them, “The harvest
truly is great, but the labourers are few:
pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,
that he would send forth labourers into his
harvest.” Luke 10:2.
Jesus sensed the great need of workers in
the ministries in His time. He foresaw the same need throughout the ages
until the very end of human history. There is always a need for more
workers in the gospel ministries. We thank God for His provision. We are
able to recruit 7 youths in our Mission to participate in the Voluntary
Service (*1000MM) this year. They have encountered life transforming
experiences during their 2 months training in Sarawak. With zeal and
enthusiasm, they are ready to go out to the fields to witness for the Lord
for the next 10 months (from Mar to Dec 2007).
Workers with the sense of urgency will achieve more. They can be used
by the Lord to accomplish great responsibilities. As Gideon merely
gathered 32,000 men to fight the Midianites, God told him that he had
too many men for Him to deliver the enemies into their hands. An
announcement was made and 22,000 men with trembling hearts went
home.
With the remaining 10,000 men, God again told Gideon that the number
was still too big for the task. God instructed Gideon, “Take them down to
the water, and I will sift them for your there. If I say, ‘This one shall go with
you,’ he shall go; but if I say, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not
go.” So Gideon took the men down to the water. There the Lord told him,
“Separate those who lap the water with their tongues like a dog, from
those who kneel down to drink.” 300 men used their hands to scoop
water to their mouths. The rest got down on their knees to drink.
Eventually, only 300 men were chosen to fight the war with the Midianites
for the Lord. They were eager to move forward to carry out their duty. In
order to save time, they just scooped the water with their hands from the
river for drinking without stopping for a moment for it. They sensed the
urgency of their responsibility. God can use these men.
The 7 youths from our Mission who are taking part in the 1000MM have the
same spirit of the 300 men under Gideon. Very soon, they will be sent out
to various places in our Mission to fight with the forces of the darkness and
save souls into the kingdom of God. I pray that all our members will catch
up with the same spirit and work together to carry out the mission that He
has entrusted to us.

HAPPY FAMILY FOREVER – MYTH OR REALITY?
REPORTED BY PR TERRANCE SIM: PEM had the
privilege of having Pr Alberto Gulfan, Jr., Master of
Public Health, the Southern Asia-Pacific Division
President, to conduct a whole week of
Evangelistic Meetings in Kuala Lumpur from Mar
11 to 17. Out of his busy schedule, Pr Gulfan
allocated three weeks in a row for evangelism in
Malaysia – the first week in Sarawak, second week
in Peninsular Malaysia and the third week in
Sabah. Evidently, Pr Gulfan has a great burden
for winning souls even though he is entrusted with
heavy administrative responsibilities. He had set
an excellent example for the ministers as well as
the church leaders.
The Evangelistic Meeting was conducted in the
ballroom of Armada Hotel. The series of topics
presented were derived from the Happy Family
Series with the attractive topics such as: Four
Secrets of a Happy Family; Ten Things Every
Woman Should Know About a Man; Managing
Stress and Enjoy Inner Peace; Inseparable Sweet
Hearts; Honey, Where is the Money; and Ten
Things Every Man Should Know About a Woman.
The theme of the Evangelistic Meeting was
“Happy Family Forever – Myth or Reality?”
Through his personal experiences, Pr Gulfan had
lively presented the topics each night.
Apparently, the talks benefitted many that the
audience, about two hundred people, came
back every night for the Evangelistic Meetings.
Apart from topics related to family, Pr Gulfan
presented messages on health and ended each
presentation with spiritual teachings.
The first three nights of the Evangelistic Meetings
were preceded by health screening. Dr Veronica
Lugah from Petaling Jaya English Church led her
team to provide blood tests and health
counselling for the public. For the three nights of
the health programme which was advertised in
the local newspaper, about a total of eighty
people came for the health check and stayed
back for the Evangelistic Meetings.
The last day of the Evangelistic Meeting was a
Sabbath day service which was attended by
more than four hundred members and visitors.
Three young people testified how Christ has
changed their lives during the Sabbath School
Service. Pr Gulfan preached about “How to Stay
in Love Forever” which is one of the evangelistic
topics. After the Divine Service, the congregation
was invited for lunch at the hotel, followed by a
baptismal service at the Petaling Jaya Chinese
Church where Pr Gulfan baptized seven precious
souls.
The leaders of PEM would like to specially thank Pr
Gulfan for taking his precious time off for
conducting evangelistic efforts in our country. We
are also thankful for the hard works of the pastors
and the support from the lay leaders in Klang
Valley to make this Evangelistic
Meeting a success!
During the Evangelistic Meetings, the children also had their fun-
filled activities led out by Mrs Leong Fai and her team. The
activities included singing, Bible stories, crafts, methods of
handling emergency, educational and Bible games, and nature
stories. Pr Joshua Gan also taught the children about the values
of life: respect, responsibility, self-control, honesty, compassion
and thankfulness.
Pr Gulfan baptized these seven precious souls on Mar 17. On the
right is Pr Terrance Sim.

BLOOD DONATION SHARED BY PR JACOB JOHN:
Instead of celebrating Christmas the usual way,
the Kuala Selangor New Work engaged in an
urgent call for blood donation by the Hospital
Tengku Ampuan Rahman on Dec 24, 2006.
Despite the short notice of 3 weeks, around 50
people volunteered to this good cause. Praise
God for His willing children.
SHARED BY PR JACOB JOHN (LEFT): After a few
months of Bible studies, four souls were baptized
by Pr Leong Fai (right) on Dec 16, 2006, at the
Kuala Selangor New Work. The two ladies insisted
on their baptisms although they were 7-8 months
pregnant! Initially, we did encounter a problem of
finding a right pool to perform the baptisms, but
God is always good, we finally found a suitable
pool for the pregnant ladies in Sungai Buloh.

God for His goodness in leading and blessing her
throughout her successful third stage cancer

SHARED BY MS MARY NGEOH OF KUALA LUMPUR
ENGLISH CHURCH: “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found
one of great value, he went away and sold everything
he had and bought it.” Matthew 13:45-46, NIV.
As William G Johnsson put it: The merchant was a seeker. He
bought and sold pearls; he traded only in the best. And one
day he found the most beautiful pearl he had ever seen—big,
perfect in form, lustrous. It was incredible, almost too wonderful
to be real.
He wanted to own that pearl! But a pearl like that didn’t come
cheap—the price is huge, out of his reach. But oh, how he
wanted that pearl! He wracked his brains. He went through his
books. He figured and figured. And at last he had a way to
make it happen. If he sold off his asset and that, cashed in all
his bonds, put his shares on the market, scraped together every
last penny—yes, he could just do it! All his other pearls would
have to go, his home, his boat, his SUV—everything.
Do you know value when you see it? Have you found Jesus,
the pearl of supreme worth? Will you give up anything and
everything to have Him?
“Christ Himself is the pearl of great price. In Him is gathered all
the glory of the Father, the fullness of the Godhead. He is the
brightness of the Father’s glory and the express image of His
person. The glory of the attributes of God is expressed in His
character. Every page of the Holy Scriptures shines with His
light. The righteousness of Christ, as a pure white pearl, has no
defect, no stain. No work of man can improve the great and
precious gift of God. It is without a flaw. In Christ are ‘hid all
the treasures of wisdom and knowledge’ (Col. 2:3). He is
‘made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification,
and redemption’ (1 Cor. 1:30). All that can satisfy the needs
and longings of the human soul, for this world and for the world
to come, is found in Christ. Our Redeemer is the pearl so
precious that in comparison all things else may be accounted
loss.” (Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 115).
But notice the paradox of grace. Grace comes to us as a gift,
altogether underserved, absolutely unearned. And yet, as in
the case of the merchant, it claims our all. So grace isn’t
“free,” after all? Yes—and no. Grace is for all, without money
and without price. But only those who receive it, receive Jesus,
find it. And when Jesus takes over, He possesses us wholly. He
is our Lord!

flood victims by distributing cash, supplying drinking
water, food, etc., and cleaning their home for them
during the Dec 2006 Johore flood. One family from
our church in Segamat offered their house to care
for the flood victims and allowed them to sleep in
their house until the flood water subsided. The
Chinese newspaper, Sin Chiew Daily, had his
parent’s news published in the headlines on Dec 24,
2006, as his son almost drown.
Alor Setar Church donated RM500 and clothes; Ipoh
English and Chinese Churches donated RM500;
Kuala Lumpur English Church donated RM441; and

God for helping him to be a bold witness for Him.
He was able to keep the Sabbath while he worked
in Bangladesh from 2004 to 2005. Every Sabbath, the
Company's driver would bring him to Dr Moskala's
(right) dental clinic for worship. He would let church
members make use of his clinic to worship God with
him on Sabbath day. Some church members even
walked 3 to 4 hours to the clinic to worship God as
they had no transport. Brother Siew experienced
God's wonderful grace showered upon him as God
used him to support His work in Bangladesh. Praise

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens. Psalm 68:19, NIV. Vision 7
SSuurrvviivviinngg CCaanncceerr AA BBlleessssiinngg iinn DDiissgguuiissee
~ by Ms Jessica Loon Soi Pien of Taipan SDA Church ~
JJune 19, 1999, was a joyous day as we celebrated our
son's first birthday and our daughter's 11th birthday
simultaneously. A few days later, I came down with a
sore throat and was awakened in the middle of the night
feeling uncomfortable. While scratching a mosquito bite
on the left side of my neck, I felt a growth, hard and half
the size of a ping pong ball. Call it woman’s intuition, I
knew in my heart that something was not right.
Next morning, I consulted my doctor who assured me
that it was nothing to worry about. He prescribed some
antibiotics and lozenges and sent me off. Diligently, I
finished taking the medicine and daily monitored the
lump, but it was still there. Then I read about an interview
with a doctor, about cancer in the Sunday Newspaper,
highlighted the fact that any growth
on your neck should not be ignored,
that really jolted me. We decided
we may need to consult another
doctor soon. Dr Hu, our family
physician for many years had come
to our minds. On Sep 24, while on a
trip to Cheras to visit my father, I
dropped by Dr Hu’s office. Dr Hu
checked the lump, he told me it
would be better if I were to consult
an ENT surgeon. I called Richard, my
husband, and told him that I need to
consult the ENT on Monday.
On Monday I went to Subang Jaya Medical Centre
(SJMC) to consult Dr Ng. He discovered a growth at my
nose cavity and wanted a biopsy to confirm whether the
growth is malignant or benign. We decided to have the
growth surgically removed. A date was set on Sep 30, in
the meantime, I had already started on a strict
vegetarian diet after consulting a friend. It was a real
ordeal to have a complete change from my old eating
habits. I was a heavy meat eater then. I literally live to
eat! We were also too engrossed in our business to care
about a healthy lifestyle. My unhealthy lifestyle made me
fat and had also given me lots of health problems. I was
always ill with allergies, sinusitis and asthma.
On Sep 30, I went through a minor surgery in the SJMC,
and was discharged on the same day. On the morning
of Oct 5, our world crumbled when Dr Ng solemnly
delivered the devastating news. The growth was
cancerous and was call Nasopharangeal Carcinoma
(NPC), in layman term: nose cancer. Right there and
then, I could feel my colour and body heat draining from
me. Dr Ng assured us that it was in the early stages and
that it was treatable! The success rate for these cases is
very high and recommended us to go to an Oncologist.
At this point of time, Richard was negotiating a business
deal in Sydney. I could feel his disappointment and
sadness in his tone of voice, but I made up my mind that I
would see myself through this and encouraged him to
stay on. I did not know then that my decision would
leave me alone to battle the treatment and all the side
effects. I truly felt depressed and miserable during all the
treatments. To all of you who are reading this - if you
know someone who is battling a chronic illness, be there
for them and their family.
A kind friend, Dr Pang Chu Yen, advised me to see Dr Tan
Meng Kuang, an Oncologist at Tong Shin Hospital. Again,
we were assured that NPC in its early stage is not life
threatening and is highly curable via radiotherapy and
chemotherapy. At this point, I would like to advise
anyone with chronic illness to consult at least two or three
physicians if it is at all possible.
Two ladies, Karen and Lilian Tan, who were a tremendous
source of inspiration, having battled cancer themselves,
Karen, a Seventh-day Adventist, shared her strong
conviction of faith in Jesus Christ, while Lilian, shared
many of her experiences on food preparation,
supplements and exercise regime and positive thinking.
On the first day of the radiation treatment at Tong Shin
Hospital, I went through the
procedure alone. It was a terrifying
experience. That night I could not
sleep! After the 3rd day, my body
was more receptive to the treatment.
I managed the entire seven weeks of
treatment very well. Of course, the
treatments came with numerous side
effects. But I thank God for His
blessings, five days later, I partially
recovered my salivary glands, which
my doctor said it would take a year to
recover!
Throughout the whole treatment, I
was thankful to Lilian and Dr Pang
who gave me lots of advice in areas of medicine and
spiritual uplifts. My husband was very supportive morally
though he was not with me all those times. He was my
pillar of strength. His confidence in the various treatments
and the way he handled my depression and hysteria was
a true show of inner strength. Also not forgetting my
daughter May Lee who at eleven years old handled
things very well, taking care of me and her little brother. I
would like to thank all my other family members and
friends heartily for their words of encouragement and
visits.
Later, my daughter and I accepted Bible study with Dr
Pang, and we were baptized on July 2000. My husband
was baptized on July 2003. It is indeed a blessing in
disguise to have suffered cancer and then found
salvation and eternal life in heaven through our Lord Jesus
Christ.
I love my new lifestyle, eating wholesome food that is
meatless. I always reminded myself that good health is
my choice. If anyone needs to speak to me, you are
most welcome to contact me at 013-3511995 or
jessloon2oo6@ yahoo.com. Any time is a good time! Our
lives are likened to a ship on the sea, sometimes the sea is
beautiful and calm, sometimes stormy but be assured,
Jesus is the captain of the ship throughout our entire
journey. Praise God forever more!

Vision 8 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5, NIV.
THE MEDIA MINISTRY WAS SET UP AT PEM
ON JAN 2006. The sole purpose of setting up the ministry is to help members of the SDA Churches in
Malaysia to be ready for the coming of Jesus and to
help non-Adventists to know and accept the Last Day
Messages entrusted to us, Seventh-day Adventists.
At present, we have a number of DVD Libraries set up in
various churches, and we are in the process of setting
up more as requests for it come from the churches. We
have a collection of more than 2000 DVDs, including
titles suitable for children. Over the past one year,
many members have benefitted from watching the
DVDs, and have in the process sold more than 6000
DVDs! Every week there are orders for DVDs from our
members who want to share it with non-Adventist
friends and relatives.
DVD Ministry is a great way to grow spiritually. You
have the opportunity to listen to messages presented
by great Adventist speakers, in the comforts of your
home, at the time you choose. DVD Ministry is also a
great way to share your faith with people you love and
want to share the Adventist faith with them. All you do
is share the DVDs that meet their needs and let the Holy
Spirit do the job of working in their hearts to convince
them of the truths.
We would like to encourage every church in Malaysia
to set up a DVD Library! It has proved to be a great
blessing to the churches that have done it. Call or
email Mrs Maggie John at 03-79847795 or
[email protected] if you want to know
more about how to go about setting up a library in your
church, or want to purchase some of the DVDs we
have.
TESTIMOIES By Ms Tan Ai Lin: Plans to setup a DVD Library in Kuala
Lumpur English Church started when Pr George and
Maggie John (GM) presented a talk on the advantages
of setting up a DVD Library on Aug 2006. Our church
pastor, Pr Joshua Gan, approached me to help start a
DVD Library. GM brought more than 2000 DVDs from
Australia to set up DVD Libraries in the SDA Churches in
Malaysia. With the help of Ms Jacie Chung, we started
work right away by selecting the DVDs. Many of our
members viewed the DVDs and have been greatly
blessed! Our DVD Library opens right after Divine
Worship until 2:30pm on Sabbath day.
The main aim of setting up the DVD Library is to help
church members better prepare themselves for the
soon coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Many of the church members who have borrowed the
DVDs available have expressed that they have a better
understanding and deeper appreciation of the truths
presented in the Bible. They testify that after listening to
the messages presented in the DVDs, they have a
clearer understanding of the Word of God. As for me
personally, listening to the testimonies of God’s faithful
servants have greatly strengthen my faith.
The DVD Library is a way of using modern technology to
preach Bible truths, and reaching out to Adventists and
non-Adventists. As a result of setting up the DVD
Library, many of our members are not only borrowing
the DVDs but also buying their personal copies and
sharing it with their friends and relatives who are non-
Adventists.
By Ms Flora: The messages in the DVDs are good. Since
watching the DVDs, the teachings in the Bible have
become very clear to me. I have been watching the
“Prophecy Code” series by Doug Batchelor. It has
helped me spiritually. In this series, before they begin
on a new topic/sermon, there is always a question and
answer session. The question and answer session is a
great help.
By Mdm Tan Kim Looi: The messages presented in the
DVDs have uplifted me spiritually. I would recommend
everyone to watch the presentations by Dr Walter Veith
entitled ‘Amazing Discoveries’. I really enjoyed it. I
have no regrets spending time on these DVDs!!!
By Ms Gemma Bayonna: I share the DVDs with my Bible
Study Group on Sundays. Many of those who attend
my Bible Study Group are non-Adventists. Some have
started coming to church as a result of watching the
DVDs!
DVD REVIEW by Mr Beki of PJ English Church: “HOUR OF THE WITCH”, by Steve Wohlberg.
The Series is made up of five sermons:
1. Witchcraft goes mainstream.
2. Harry Potter, Wicca Witchcraft and the Bible.
3. What’s wrong with Wicca.
4. The alternative: The man with scars.
5. Defense against the Dark Arts.
This DVD Series contrasts bestselling books like Harry
Potter, Wicca’s guide to white magic, etc, to the Bible.
Steve Wohlberg discusses the reasons why children are
getting into witchcraft. He attributes the growth in
witchcraft to three main things:
1. Movies, video games.
2. The Internet (Occult websites)
3. Books (Harry Potter, Wicca’s guide to white magic).
These may seem harmless to the average person, but
the devil is a wolf in sheep's skin deceiving the masses.
What is so sad is that most parents are not worried
because they are happy that their children are turning
off the "TVs and reading books". But how many parents
have taken time to check the content of the materials
that their children are reading today?
Steve brings evidence to the fact that the occult
organizations had a great influx of enquiries about
witchcraft and how to become a witch mainly from
young people. Steve makes some recommendations
as to what kind of books we should allow children to
read and how to defend ourselves from witchcraft.
I would recommend that if you have a child, plan on
having a child, etc, to watch this series. May the Lord’s
message be impressed upon your heart.

Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might. Psalm 21:13, NIV. Vision 9
Only Believe
“He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be
with him in trouble.” Psalm 91:15.
DDuring the first year of my marriage, my husband
and I lived in a rented room. Since we did not
have any utilities and furniture, we just had
enough room for a single bed and a small kitchen.
We had our fun-learning phase of our lives.
One Friday night, my husband said that he had
only RM10.00 left until Monday, his salary day. As
he was pastoring two churches at that time, we
had to travel one hour to conduct the Sabbath
Service in the morning. He was confused whether
to buy food or put gas for the car. Finally, he
decided to put gas and travel to carry out his
duties.
Being a young wife, I had not learnt how to
control my hunger. Thinking of going without food
for the weekend, I started crying. At that time, my
husband said, “why not ask God for food?” I
smiled and asked him, “Will God answer such
menial and cheap requests like ours?” But, he
kept persuading me to ask God. Then both of us
knelt down and started praying. We were pray-
crying to God, telling Him about our situation
without food. After we said “Amen”, there was a
knock on the door. To our surprise, our landlady
stood in front of the door with a big plate of
overfilled noodles and a big bottle of Milo, which
were our food for the whole weekend! God
provided food and filled our stomachs until we

NEW KLEBANG SDA CHURCH BUILDING BEGINS,
SHARED BY PR DAVID KUMAR: After a long wait,

PERAK-WIDE SDA PASTOR’S DAY, SHARED BY PR
DAVID KUMAR: The Klebang SDA Church
celebrated the Pastor’s Day on Dec 16, 2006. Pr
and Mrs Tan on the right, Pr Sam Govindasamy in
the center, and myself and my wife on the left, we
were presented with gifts of appreciation from the
church members. Praise God for leading us in our
respective ministries. Claim His Promises “I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.” Psalm 120:1.
MMy family planned to attend a Pathfinder
Camporee in Banting. On the first day, all four of
us were ready in our full uniforms except our
sashes, which were packed in a small backpack.
Before sleeping that night, I prepared our clothes
for the next day, I realized that our small
backpack was missing. I thought my children
might know where the backpack was, so not
bothering so much about it, I prayed and slept.
Towards the end of the third day, I became very
restless as I had to be on stage the next day.
Those who go on stage, must be in their full
uniform, so I needed my sash. Till then, I had
generally prayed, but was not specific about the
sash. So, at night, I took time, asked the Lord’s
help, I cried and asked Him specifically for my
backpack with my valuable sash in it. While
crying and searching, I knew I had not searched
a particular small room. Thus, I ran up to that
room, and waited for the meeting to end. I
rushed in just to see my backpack right in front of
me! I was so surprised to see the backpack with
all my things intact. I then rushed to my room
and knelt down, and thanked the Lord
immediately. I felt the Lord’s presence guiding
me.
The Lord will surely help those who call on Him.
The Lord knew that I had lost my valuable sash,
but till I asked the Lord, He did not help me to
find it.
Claim God’s promises and know that He is always
near you in times of your distress.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Matthew 5:8, NIV. Vision 11
HOPE IN JESUS’ LIVING WATER, TESTIMONY BY MR
EDMUND WONG (2nd from right) OF PENANG
ENGLISH CHURCH: I saw my life spinning like a
cycle with spiritual poverty, I lacked good
guidance, I felt futile and dissatisfaction sets in
almost everything I did. It took me many years to
break this cruel living chain. It happened like the
story in the Bible, the Samaritan woman who
came by the well to draw water, John 4:13. She
did not know about the well of Living Water until
Jesus gave it to her. I was often caught up with
the unrest of the daily routine, very much like the
Samaritan woman drawing water as part of her
busy daily routine. Hardly did I notice a vicious
cycle working in me until I accepted Jesus as my
personal saviour.
When the truth touched my heart, I immediately
could see clearly my goals and visions. I can
hardly claim any achievements in my life before
accepting Jesus. Truly God is wonderful and
worthy of our worship and adoration.
God opened ways for me to understand His Word.
It all started when I received a mobile short
message from my sister who invited me to watch a
Sunday evening DVD movie entitled, “Keeper of
the Flame” at the Adventist Church in Penang.
Thereafter, I attended a series of DVD
programmes; I was introduced the Sabbath truth.
I then studied more about the Sabbath truth
through the studies of the Bible; thanks to the
church pastor’s help in enlightening my mind.
Finally, my understanding of the Sabbath truth
stands rock firm and life now flows with spirit and
truth as I come to worship in the house of God,
thank God for His Living Water that lives in me.
I seized the opportunity to attend Pr Geoff
Youlden’s Evangelistic Seminar, and I was
convinced that I needed to be baptized very
soon. I am glad to be accepted into the great
Seventh-day Adventist family, and I praise our
Creator for His Living Water!

““LLiiffee aafftteerr LLiiffee”” Evangelistic Seminar
~ by Mr Tay Cheng Eng of Penang English Church ~
IIn an effort to reach out to the people of Penang, the Penang English Church, led by Pr Lawrence
Randig, organized an Evangelistic Seminar from
Nov 24 to Dec 2, 2006, with Pr Geoff Youlden as
the main speaker. Pr Youlden, an Australian, has
lectured on nearly every continent in the world.
For the last 20 years he has been running his own
television programme.
Church members’ support for the Seminar was
overwhelming; weeks before the Seminar, they
made commitments to pray and invite friends.
The Penang Chinese Church and the Penang
Indian Church also came to help distribute flyers
in the various shopping complexes.
The Seminar
managed to attract
more than 100
visitors! The topics
included: “Life
After Life”, “Why
You Can Be Assured
Of A Wonderful
Future”, “The Secret
Of Happiness”,
“How To
Understand The
Book Of
Revelation”, “The
Forgotten Secret - The Answer To Stress”, “The Anti-
Christ, Who Is He?”, “A Fatal Mistake”, “Why Are
There So Many Churches?”, “How To Add 10 Years
To Your Life”, “Start Your New Life Now”. In
addition, free health talks were held before the
lectures every evening. Visitors who came
regularly were rewarded with free gifts – the Holy
Bible, The Great Controversy, and The Passion of
Christ. At the end of the Evangelistic Seminar,
three persons expressed their decisions to follow
Jesus through Bible study and baptism.

FARLIM SDA CHURCH BIBLE TRAINING CAMP AND
EVANGELISTIC MEETING SHARED BY DR SAMUEL TEE:
From Nov 27 till Dec 1, 2006, the Evangelistic
Meeting and Bible Training Camp “Let the Bible
Speak”, wave high the message that the Bible,
and the Bible alone is the answer to the quest of
hope for a lost world.
The Bible Training Camp started with an audience
of young people evenly represented from the
churches of Peninsular Malaysia, East Malaysia,
Singapore and Thailand. There were some visitors
who travel all the way from Hong Kong and
Australia.
The speaker, Mr Peter Gregory, is a Bible teacher
and evangelist from the United States. He was
also the founder of IONA Bible Training School and
had conducted meetings throughout the world.
The audience was captivated by the wealth that
illuminated through the plain “Word”. With the
aid of the Holy Spirit, the interpretation of the Bible
made complete sense and alive by comparing
scriptures with scriptures and paying careful
attention to the study of it. Many had to skip their
breakfast in order to read the book of Ephesians
seven times as required by the teacher.
Nevertheless, it was more than rewarded as the
gems of truth unfolded in their minds.
The young people also participated in the
colporteur sessions for two afternoons. They were
paired in two or three’s. While one attempts to
introduce the literature, the other prays.
Approximately 1200 houses were reached
through health and spiritual books. Some of the
people turn up as visitors to the Evangelistic
Meeting as a result. Many youth had never been
so bold to approach strangers as they testified
later.
The Evangelistic Meeting proceeded
consecutively with the camp at night. The YMCA
rental hall was so packed on the first night that
many had to stand by the hallway of the
reception counter. As it was during the monsoon
month, special prayers were supplicated to hold
back the rain and the Lord prevented the
downpour. The rain stopped prior to the Meetings;
thus, the members were encouraged by the
evidence of the Lord’s blessing. At the close of
the Meetings, 15 candidates requested for Bible
studies, 14 people committed to be baptized and
one individual decided to accept Christ through
the profession of faith. The total number of
people who came for the Evangelistic Meeting
was 130. Out of that, 66 of them were non-SDAs.
They represented a diversity of other
denominational Christian, Buddhist, atheist and
free thinkers. We had thought that the theme was
not attractive to non-Christians, but we had
underestimated the power in the Word. In
conclusion, 7 young people presented their
sermonates in the homiletics class at the Training
Camp. There were two young ladies who were
baptized into the Farlim SDA Church. The Camp
ended with a wholesome musical programme
and a sweet farewell for a truly memorable
gathering on Sabbath evening.

~ by Dr Shee Soon Chiew ~
IIn the last article for Vision, I promoted the need
for a community of helpers who will not abdicate
their responsibilities of helping church members
mature in their walk with God. These members
may be fellow strugglers or “pilgrims in progress”
with discerning and caring hearts. I ended the
article with this question: “How does this
community of helpers look like?”
To continue on that line of thought, I encourage
you to read Jon Paulien’s “Knowing God In The
Real World” by Pacific Press. Check with Home
Health Education Service S/B on its availability.
Although it was meant to equip us to effectively
and meaningfully impact a secular community or
a non-believer, I find the author’s elucidation
germane to our topic. His thought reinforces mine
in the way they engender an authentic
relationship with God—the basis for an authentic
relationship with each other, believers and
unbelievers alike. I like to share his concluding
remarks (last chapter, p.158), plus a few
“additions” with you.
Many people view the church as a cop out, a
way of avoiding painful realities. But when they
see broken people embracing Jesus, when they
see real people finding faith in the midst of
turmoil, when they discover that Jesus, who was
without sin, was at times needy, angry, sad, hurt,
and frustrated, people become bolder and have
more conviction to hope that they too might be
welcome to sit at the feet of Jesus, as Mary did.
When we are authentic, it gives those watching us
courage to journey on.
So, the road to authenticity is the way to go. It is
not going to be easy. It begins at the foot of the
Cross, with the realization that we are worth the
whole universe to Him. If we are worth that much
to him, then it doesn’t matter what anyone else
thinks about us. With the courage we receive in
Christ, we can begin groping toward honesty and
reality.
While you may feel discourage at the enormity of
the task, rest assured that Christ is spreading His
arms out to you to embrace you as you are,
embrace you with all your shortcomings,
embrace you with all your self-deceptions,
embrace you with all your defense mechanisms.
And if you will let Him, He will elevate you to sit
with Him as honoured guest. (Revelation 3:21).
So, what kind of community will make the grade,
so to speak? A “Safe Church” where people and
faith are real. At the foot of the Cross, you can
begin to let the mask slip down, without fear of
rejection. You can begin to listen so sincerely that
believers who share their struggles with you sense
your understanding. You can begin to know
Christ so profoundly again and experience the
thrill of enjoying each other (rather than judging
each other). You can touch each other with your
passion for Christ as it is reflected in your handling
of personal failures, battles, victories, and joys.
While the pilgrim’s progress is not plain sailing, we
can do it together.

DDuring the last school holidays, my friends and I joined a Literature Ministry Course at the Abram
La Ru Training Centre, Permas Jaya, Johore.
After being trained for a week, we started
canvassing according to what we have learnt.
We met many people while canvassing. The
behaviour of some people made me
disappointed at times when I introduce the books
or magazines to them.
Although I was disheartened, I have never gave
up as a student Literature Evangelist who works for
God. I would thank the people who rejected me
and gave them tracts, after a warm-hearted
conservation, they would thank me in the end.
This is a blessing from God!
One day, my siblings and I went to Taman
Sentosa, Johore, alone. We approached a
shopkeeper to purchase the books, and she
asked, “You are still a child, aren’t you afraid?” I
replied, “I am afraid, but I keep praying to God.”
She then asked me what church I attend and I
told her the Adventist Church. I continued to
explain to her the reasons why I was not afraid,
and she praised me. She even bought a set of
books from me! I was elated.

*FOODS FOR THE
INFECTIONS
TThroughout life, the body is in constant struggle against
pathogenic microorganisms
and foreign substances that
attack it, which are called
antigens. The combination of
tissues and cells responsible for
defending the body from
these antigens is referred to as
immune system.
There are foods particularly
beneficial in cases of infection
because they:
• Improve the function of
the immune system: The
healthy functioning of this
complex defense system
against infectious agents
and foreign substances
requires specific nutrients:
1. Proteins.
2. Antioxidant vitamins
(A, C, and E).
3. Trace elements such
as iron, selenium, zinc,
and copper.
Preparation and Use
of Kiwi which increases
resistance and
prevents anemia
• Fresh. Kiwis are normally
eaten in their natural state.
This fruit is very hardy and
easily transported. They
are usually harvested
somewhat green since
they ripen well off the
tree.
Preparation and Use of Borage
which reduces fever,
soothes the mucosa,
and aids in weight loss
• Cooked. Borage should
not be overcooked. Of
course, it should be eaten
with its cooking broth. It
combines very well with
potatoes.
• Raw, in salad. Only the
sprouts and very young
leaves are used, harvested
before the plant buds.
• Fresh juice. This is
prepared from tender
leaves. A half-glass may
be drunk each morning as
a depurant (purifier).
Preparation and Use of
Tangerine
• Fresh. Peeling and eating
tangerines while enjoying
their aroma is a true
delight. To gain the full
benefit of their therapeutic
value, one should eat 6 to
8 a day.
Preparation and Use of
Oranges which has much
more than vitamin C
• Fresh. When eating an
orange, the white inner
peel (mesocarp) should be
included, as well as the
pulp fiber as long as it is
not tough.
• Juice. Ideally orange juice
should be drunk fresh-
squeezed since vitamin C
loses its potency over time
and exposure to light.
Canned orange juice loses
some of its natural vitamin C,
although some bottles enrich it
with synthetic vitamin C.
Preparation and Use of Lychee
which reduces inflammation
and prevents infections
• Fresh. Their white pulp,
whose consistence is
reminiscent of the grape,
combines well with other
fruits and even rice.
• Dried. They store very well
dried, and their nutrient
concentration is multiplied
three times. However, they
lose 20% to 50% of their
vitamin C.
• Frozen. Lychees store well
frozen for periods of up to
a year, which facilitates
their long-range transport.
They lose 10% to 15% of
their vitamin C.
• Canned. These are usually
prepared in syrup.

1166.. The Lord’s Supper: The Lord's Supper is a participation in the emblems of the body and blood of Jesus as an expression of faith in Him, our Lord and Saviour. In this experience of communion Christ is
present to meet and strengthen His people. As we partake, we joyfully proclaim the Lord's death until He
comes again. Preparation for the Supper includes self-examination, repentance, and confession. The
Master ordained the service of foot washing to signify renewed cleansing, to express a willingness to serve
one another in Christ-like humility, and to unite our hearts in love. The communion service is open to all
believing Christians. (1 Cor. 10:16, 17; 11:23-30; Matt. 26:17-30; Rev. 3:20; John 6:48-63; 13:1-17.)
