Problem 1The Blendex Oil Company blends a regular and premium product from two ingredients, heptane and octane. Each liter of regular is composed of exactly 50% heptane and 50% octane. Each liter of premium is composed of exactly 40% heptane and 60% octane. During this planning period there are exactly 200,000 liters of heptane and 310,000 liters of octane available. The profit contributions per liter of the regular and premium product are $0.03 and $0.04 per liter respectively.

Step 1: formulate the LP on paper In this step we need to determine : 1-Decision Variables:HR = liters of heptane used to produce regular gasoline.OR = liters of octane used to produce regular gasolineHP = liters of heptane used to produce premium gasoline.OP = liters of octane used to produce premium gasoline

2-Objective function: to maximize the total contribution from selling both types of gasoline: Max = 0.03 * (HR + OR) + 0.04 * (HP + OP)

3-Constraints :A) - Each liter of regular must have exactly : 50% heptane and 50% octane: (50/100 )HR - (50/100 )OR0.5 HR 0.5 OR = 0
B)- Each liter of premium must have exactly:40% heptane and 60% octane: (40/100 )HP - (60/100 )OP0.6 HP 0.4 OP = 0
