SNOWLESS WINTER
Many are thankful that this section of the country i>- enjoying what is commonly called an open winter.
Notwithstanding, every other man or woman one meets is suffering from either a cold or bronchitis, while in homes and hospitals pneumonia is common.
No one likes snow, unless it be the youngster with a sled, but probably snow and ice, with a freezing, skating temperature might be better than this springlike weather with its ever treacherous tendencies.

establish a new world's duration fight record. The coming School Board election brought out an announcement
from John H W a c ltw iu that he would be a candidate and he, has written a letter to the public press stating his views and qualifications. _>»
While friends of Chamberlip and Roger Q. Wil liams, his copilot, were disappointed because of their fail ure to better the record of 52 hours 22 minute^ and 111seconds, made by German airmerf, they were pleased be' cause the American record was unofficially bettered.
Chamberlin and Williams remained aloft 51 hours 52 minutes and 24 seconds in the flight that ended on Saturday. If it had not been for the leak that wasted sixty gallons of their gasoline, they would have attained their goal.
The American fliers remained in the air under discouraging conditions. T h i gasoline leak early in the attempt presaged failure. It also spoiled their food and the fumes stifled them .
Wisdom should have caused the fliers to descend on Friday, but they presisted although the odds were against them. > 1 .7~
Chamberlin indicates that hewill make a new attempt for the world's record. His BelHiV4plane has proved that it can Carry the fuel necessary for stitcess and Chamberlin needs only fortune's smile to succeed.
Chamberlin’s determination-will keep him at his task until his objective has been reached. He will have the best wishes of the nation in his new attempt to return thi_ record to the United States.“'
