HomeAid Atlanta had an amazing 2019, and we’re planning an even bigger 2020. We accomplished the following thanks to generous support from Atlanta’s home building industry and the community. Added or preserved 113 beds at Atlanta-area homeless shelters Saved our shelter provider partners a total of $359,291 in

construction materials and labor costs Impacted the lives of over 2,000 people through five shelter projects

and 16 Care Days Engaged 500 building industry professionals in helping to end

homelessness in Atlanta Assembled 1,000 Care Kits Collected nearly $9,000 worth of furniture and household goods

through our Stock the House Drive Provided 175,000 baby items through our annual Essentials Drive

All of these efforts benefitted over 30 nonprofits throughout metro Atlanta that provide housing and supportive services to help people go from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

In 2020, HomeAid Atlanta is poised to add 150 beds! We are currently working with Knight Homes to add 10 beds for teenage mothers in Jonesboro at House of Dawn. BA Barrett Construction is working with us at Making A Way Housing to add 16 more beds. Bradley Hall, Vincent Longo, and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Associa-tion’s Remodelers Council is working on a plan to remodel the Women's Recovery Residence at St. Jude’s Recovery Center. This project will preserve eight beds and add two more. Other upcoming projects include a renovation at North Georgia Angel House in Canton and a new build for Gigi’s House in Lovejoy. We are also planning 20 Care Days this year. As always, we will hold our Essentials and Stock the House Drives, and assemble another 1,000 CareKits.

Leading the charge in 2020 is Board President Lori Rousseau, sworn in on January 15 at the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and HomeAid Atlanta Annual Installation and Awards Ceremony at the Omni Hotel at The Battery. A Licensed Sales Manager at Angel Oak Home Loans, Lori has always championed HomeAid through her longtime involvement with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. At the January 15 event she said of HomeAid’s 2019 success, “None of these things could happen without your support. You are making a huge difference in countless lives, and I encourage you to stay involved in 2020.”

Building New Lives In 2019 & 2020 HomeAid Atlanta’s 2019 Award Winners

2019 Volunteer of the Year: Steven Sanders-Myers led four HomeAid Care Days in 2019, volunteering with fellow Brightwater Homes employees and members of Resonate Church Atlanta. Thanks to his participation, nearly $25,000 was saved for nonprofits providing housing and services for Atlanta’s homeless population.

2019 Builder of the Year: Ryan Swallow, South Haven Builders led HomeAid’s interior renovation of an eight-unit apartment building at Roswell’s The Drake Village. His efforts allow eight single mothers and their children to have a safe place to rebuild their lives and saved nearly $87,000.

2019 Trade Partner of the Year: BrightView donated over $20,000 worth of labor and materials to create a greenspace at Rainbow Village as part of HomeAid’s April 2019 project at the Duluth facility for families experiencing homelessness. BrightView also completed $2,500 worth of work at a small home operated by nonprofit Jesus Set the Captive Free to house formerly incarcerated homeless veterans as they rebuild their lives.

First Care Day of 2020

HomeAid Atlanta kicked off its 2020 series of Care Days on January 17 at Community Advance Practice Nurses Clinic (CAPN Clinic), an on-site health clinic located at Our House, a HomeAid-built Atlanta shelter serving homeless families. Volunteers from North Georgia Brick and General Shale Brick gathered at CAPN Clinic to complete much-needed painting projects. The group painted the entire interior of the clinic. Special thanks to Sherwin-Williams, who generously donated seven gallons of paint in support of this Care Day. “We have a new clean look—quite refreshed. I appreciate HomeAid’s efforts in finding wonderful volunteers. Your work here saves our funding to provide direct care to our clients.” said Connie Buchan-nan, Executive Director of CAPN Clinics.
