Stewards Transformed

As God’s people, we have been given the high honor of being His stewards. As His

stewards, we are called to manage faithfully all that we’ve been entrusted with

according to God’s will and benefit. Because of God’s generous gifts of grace, faith,

and love, we can accomplish all that God asks us to do. God works in and through us

as we become His hands, feet and mouth.

God’s grace comes from God through Jesus and His work for us. It is not something

we have a right to. Jesus obtained it for us. We get it freely because of the obedience

and sacrifice of Jesus. This saving grace also enables and motivates us to be God’s

stewards. The power of God’s grace in our lives compels us to use our time, talents,

and money in ways that glorify God. Grace is not ours to earn; it is God’s to give.

Faithful stewardship expresses our love and gratitude to God, and gives evidence of

God’s grace in our lives.

Faith is the most precious gift anyone can receive from God. Through faith, we have

access into God’s grace and a new relationship with Him. Through faith, God changes

us, and we are born anew of Him. Not only does faith justify us and give us peace with

God, we are told by James and other writers that faith produces works. Faith leads to

action. Through faith, we are empowered to fulfill God’s purposes. Our deeds as

stewards are evidence of our faith. Through faith, we are saved, and that same faith

energizes us to live out our faith by doing the good works that God has planned for us

to do.

Love ought to follow faith. Love seeks the welfare of others. “Beloved, if God so

loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one

another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us” (1 John 4:11-12). God’s love

in Christ will compel us to do things that appear foolish to unbelievers. God expects

that the love He “lavishes” on us will naturally flow out of us into others. God’s love

prompts us to give freely of our time, talents and treasures to help others and extend

His kingdom.

Yellow Smoke

Cost is $1.00

All youth grades 6-12 welcome!!

Welcome to Christina Bridgeman and Patricia Ehlers

who were confirmed on August 27. Christina and her

daughter, Brooke, were also baptized that evening.

Please welcome them to our church family!

Beginning October 9th, Zion will be involved in a

three-week stewardship series emphasis titled “Stewards

Transformed by Grace, Faith, and Love.” During the

three weeks, we will focus on God’s gifts of grace, faith

and love and how God uses these gifts to shape us so He

can accomplish His plan on earth through us. Week 1: “Stewards Transformed by Grace”

In week one, our focus is on God’s undeserved kindness

and love which the Bible calls grace. God’s grace comes

from God through Jesus and His work for us. By grace,

we acknowledge God’s call to be His stewards, and we

express our gratitude for the wonderful privilege to serve

God through our stewardship. Week 2: “Stewards Transformed by Faith”

In week two, we are reminded that it is through faith that

we have access into God’s grace and a new relationship

with him. By grace, God gives us faith. Stewardship is

our faith in action. Stewards guided by faith become

Jesus’ hands, feet and mouth. Week 3: “Stewards Transformed by Love”

The third week, we will focus on the virtue of love. Love

ought to follow faith. Love seeks the welfare of others.

Love comes from God. God demonstrated His awesome

love for us by sending His Son, Jesus, to the cross to

atone for our sins. He wants His love within us to

overflow to others.

Choir Notes… by Renee Miller , Director

Rehearsals start Wednesday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. and continue through early December.

Last season, we changed our singing schedule format. After 36 years of providing special music at services from

September-April, we are now singing for special services only. Reformation is Sunday, October 30 and choir will provide

a special anthem for both Sunday services. “Built on a Rock” is from our files, and is one of the choir’s favorites. It

incorporates the familiar hymn version with a sparkling, contemporary melody. November rehearsals will be spent working on five anthems for our annual Advent/Christmas concert in December. There

will be new pieces, along with some of our best-loved songs. We are in need of more singing voices so that we can keep

our signature four-part harmony (sopranos, altos, tenors and basses). Last month, Pastor Kaiser had a very thought-provoking sermon about how God tests us every day. “He gives us time,

talent and treasure. He says ‘I’ve given you health, money and certain skills. Now, how will you use them?’ Do you

realize God is testing you, examining your attitudes, your motives and your choices? What is Jesus looking for from me, in

approach to my skills? Since I know I’m being tested, and since I want to please God and please my Savior in all things,

how should I do that? What does God want me to do?” If you have unused vocal talents, a way to put them to use for God’s glory is by joining choir. You would need to

commit to attending rehearsals during October and November, along with being present to sing October 30, and for the

Advent/Christmas concert one weekend in early December. We will also sing on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and

at all three Easter services. A month of rehearsals would precede the Holy Week services. In addition to adults, I

encourage any junior high and high school vocalists to consider joining us. Rehearsals are usually at 7 p.m. on

Wednesdays. I pray that many singers step out in faith, answering God’s call for service! Questions? Call me at 263-5741.
