GNOCCHI OR PASTA DINNER, JAN. 7, 3:30 PM - 7:00 PM, $11.00 FAMILY FUN NIGHT, JAN.17, DINNER 7PM & DJ, $15 PER PERSON

We hope everyone in Thorold enjoys a happy new year and cele-brates the festivities with fun and safety in mind.If you over indulge in the celebrations with alcoholic libations, try this hangover remedy. Do some exercise on the morning after drinking, even a brisk walk, which gets the circulation going in your body. Exercise burns off some of the toxins in your system, while getting blood and oxygen to your brain. Take a probiotic supple-

ment, such as acidophilus, to help restore the flora balance in your stomach. Consuming high quantities of alcohol is very dehydrating. Drink three or four glasses of water before going to bed. Eating pea-nut butter, almonds, even primrose oil up are preventative measures to avoid a hangover. Finally, there’s Sir Alexander Fleming who claimed “If penicillin can cure those that are ill, Spanish sherry can bring the dead back to life.”

HERITAGE & CULTURE

Henderson’s Book Sales Donated to CharityChristmas looked much brighter with a donation of $1,580 to Community Care St. Catharines Thorold at Henderson’s Pharmacy on December 23. The proceeds from the first phase of sales from the new book, 75 Years of Service: The Henderson Family was handed to Community Care’s Nancy McIntosh by John Henderson.

The funds will go toward the agency’s Christmas Fund and will help local people in need.

Copies of the 40-page full colour book can be picked up at Henderson’s for a suggested donation of $10 or a minimum $5. All monies will be donated to a local charity. The book is packed with pictures of people and places in our community. Get a copy while supplies last!

As the City of Thorold takes tourism and mar-keting in a new direction this year, we would be wise as a community to be inspired by this quote by George Bernard Shaw.

“If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and

I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.”

Imagine if everyone in Thorold shares an idea to improve local tour-ism. Do you think there could be a few seeds that grow into fruitful endeavors? Share your ideas for the new tourism program. Go to facebook.com/inthorold and post your comment. Join the conversa-tion today . We could form a Big Apple kind of idea in the new year.
