In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real products?

Thriller Opening• Our group’s thriller opening

focuses around the idea of an intense chase scene, with the two good character leading protagonists running away from the enemy. Our final product beings straight off into our chasing scene with our two main characters sprinting for their lives in a wood surrounding, which questions the audience to why they are being chased? And the main question who?

• As a group we did research before filming to decide upon what kind of route we were going to go down that included different thriller conventions. We researched into several thriller films currently out in the market that people would tend to watch and in the end we decided to base our them on the ‘James Bond’ films which contain spy/ agent elements.

• When watching the James Bond clips we found that chase scenes were incredibly popular in all sequels, without the chase scenes it wouldn’t be James Bond, therefore we decided to take that aspect of the film and put it into ours.

• We developed the idea of a chase scene by introducing it swiftly in the opening sequence to grab the audience’s attention almost straight away, to draw in likeability to the film and an interest for them to watch what happens next.

• This clip is where we got out inspiration from a James Bond film as we all thought as a group it was a very effective sequence to watch and we found it entertaining.

• The clips setting is based in a dark surrounded woods to which we also tried to reproduce, by challenging this clip against ours.

• In total these are the features as a group we believed we have challenged against to add into our opening sequence that some films have out in the market today:

• Fast paced upbeat music• Sound effects• Chase scene• Dark scenery• Set in a thrillerish setting• Weaponry used

• Also in our market research we looked in magazines and online prints of film reviews from the public as well as professional people to see what their thoughts were on numerous different thriller films and see what was good and bad about them.
