Happy Trinity Sunday! In today's Gospel, we hear Jesus declare together all three Persons of the
Trinity. "Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." !
!
When we speak of the Trinity, two different theological words are sometimes used: immanent and
economic. The immanent Trinity is the life of the three Persons within themselves, the inner
harmonious relationship between Father, Son, and Spirit. We see this in the Gospels when Jesus
speaks of his Father and promises to send the Holy Spirit. The term "economic" has its roots in the
Greek word oikonomia, roughly meaning "household management." The economic Trinity is our
threePersoned God's relationship with creation; it is creation and redemption and ongoing
relationship with us.!
!
Made in the image and likeness of God, we are called to imitate God's immanence by giving and
receiving love with one another in community. However, this is not limited only to those close to
us, though that's where love often starts. We also imitate the economy of God when we go out,
when we extend our love and care in a lifegiving way. "Go therefore ?"!
!
Every believer is sent on mission. Every believer is invited to follow Jesus and the Apostles "to
the nations," to the margins, to the people who require a little extra reach. This could be a distant
relative, the residents of your local homeless shelter or even the forgotten neighbor next door!
When we love well, we create something beautifula relationship, a holy moment, a foretaste of
heaven. This Trinity Sunday, take some time to examine the relationships in your life. How well
do you love those nearest to you? How well do you reach out to those farther away? How are you
creating something beautiful? !

Many of you remember Fr. Leo Smith. He would often say that
distributing the Precious Body and Blood of Christ was one of his
favorite priestly duties and that it brought him great joy. As a
minister of the Eucharist, it is an overwhelming experience to
watch as people approach to receive, knowing that what you have
in the ciborium or cup is our Lord and that you could not give them anything
more meaningful or life giving. !!
If you have no physical difficulty that precludes your becoming an
Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, and you come to Mass each week,
then this is a ministry with which you would fall in love. If feeling
unworthy is standing in your way, know that none of us is truly worthy.!!

Thank you to all the many supporters of
this Military Ministry. With your help we have sent over 2000 boxes to our Active Troops in Foreign lands (Mostly Iraq and Afghanistan). These boxes are much appreciated by the troops. !!
This letter from a Marine Corps Captain says it all.!!
“First off, Thank you for the thoughtful care packages that arrived in April 2018, and the goodies inside brought smiles to my Marine’s faces. As hard as it is being away from Family and Friends, it is refreshing to receive love and blessings from caring people like you.!!
Secondly, my deputy and I make a conscious effort to distribute the packages to our youngest Marines and those Marines that don’t receive many packages from loved ones back home. Your efforts made them feel appreciated more than you will know. Thank you for your amazing support.!
God Bless, Joshua C Benson, Captain, !United States marine Corps.”!
!
Our next Pack for the Troops will be June 7th at 11:30am immediately following the Mass in the Chapel. Please join us to pray and pack for the Troops who are fighting to keep us FREE. Need to know what to donate to the active soldiers? You will find a brochure in the foyer of Incarnation Church next to our Military pictures. Donations are gladly accepted for the postage. This will be the last pack until we resume in the Fall. !
President Richard Nixon declared Memorial Day a !federal
holiday on the last Monday in May. !!
Cities all around the U.S. will hold their own celebrations to pay respect to the men and women who have died in wars or in the service of their country.!!Teaching the meaning of Memorial Day to your children can be a challenge. The simplest thing you can do to explain and honor this holiday with your children is to spend time talking to them about what Memorial Day means to you. Take the day to talk & reflect on the subject of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.!

~ God
The love relationship that exists
among the Persons of the Holy
Trinity is both intense and intimate.
As beautiful as this teaching is, it
demonstrates how human language
really pales in trying to capture the essence of
God. !
!
The Father brings us to the creative, powerful, yet
gently meticulous part of God who has brought
mountains and hills into being, as well as each of
His children. Still the Father is more than this. !
!
The Son demonstrates the unconditional love of
God filled with endless mercy and compassion.
This love really understands the journey of the
marginalized and the poor and has no use for
created powers and structures that alienate and
hurt people. But the Son is even more than this. !
!
The Holy Spirit is the breath of God who teaches
wisdom and brings understanding, who governs
the seasons and discerns the thoughts of human
hearts. Yet the Holy Spirit is still more than this. !
!
We worship a God who is beyond, and also
intimately bonded to all that he has made, without
whom nothing could be sustained in being. Praise
the Holy Trinity! !

What is a sacramental seal and where did
it come from?!
!
Leaving more than just a memory, there
are some events in our life that are truly
transforming, making us different people.
The same thing can be said of spiritual things,
especially sacraments. A sacramental
“seal” or “character” is a theological
concept to describe the lifechanging
and permanent effect of three sacra-
ments on the person: Baptism, Confirmation, and
Holy Orders. !
!
The Catechism of the Catholic Church
teaches that these sacraments confer a
seal "by which the Christian shares in
Christ's priesthood and is made a
member of the Church according to
different states and functions. This
configuration to Christ and the Church, brought
about by the Spirit, is indelible" (#1121).!
!
Once we receive these sacraments, we are forever
changed. It's a spiritual "point of no return"
whereby we take a step
forward in our faith
journey. We are marked as
people of faith, as those who
have received the Spirit and as those called to
serve in ordained ministry. That is why these
sacraments are received only once. The direction
is set, the choice is made, and we are called by
God to be his people. Nothing can change that,
not even our own sinfulness. !

we are given the opportunity to plan the

Church of the Incarnation
The Incarnation Religious Education Department wishes to express sincere
appreciation to the Knights of Columbus, Council 15332, and the Incarnation
Women’s Club for hosting our Confirmation and First Communion receptions
this year. !
!
Twentysix Confirmandi and fiftyfour First Communicants, along with their family and friends
enjoyed cake, coffee and punch following the celebration of the Sacraments of Confirmation and
First Communion. The generosity of both the Knights of Columbus and the Incarnation Women’s
Club made these events a joyous celebration. Thank you and God bless!! !
First Holy Communion Incarnation Church welcomed 48 young communicants to the Lord’s Table during a beautiful
ceremony presided over by Father Matt on Saturday, May 12th. We thank our clergy, catechists,
sacristan, organist, and cantor for creating a memorable experience for the children.
