Rachèle started her career with Canadian University Service Oversea (CUSO) and travelled to Mali, Niger, Sénégal, Ivory Coast, Togo, Guinée Bissau and Burkina Faso as Liaison Officer for West Africa. Later, she became the Program Coordinator for the Faculty of Medicine/Aboriginal Program at U of Ottawa. After discovering the healing power and strength of the Aboriginal culture, she has dedicated her life to working towards bringing awareness to Aboriginal history and culture.

Sylvain Charbonneau took office as Vice-President, Research on January 29, 2018. His term will end on June 30, 2023. Mr. Charbonneau received his B. Sc. And M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Ottawa and his Ph.D. degree in Photonics – Semiconductor Physics from Simon Fraser University, British Columbia in 1988. He joined the National Research Council (NRC) in October 1988, where he worked until April 2013, when Mr. Charbonneau took the position of Associate Vice-President, Research at the University of Ottawa.

Sylvain CharbonneauVice-President, Research, uOttawa

Professor Gattinger’s research and engagement focus on the energy and arts/cultural policy sectors, exploring how to strengthen governance, public policy and regulation in the context of fast-paced innovation, technological change and markets, fundamental social and value change, and lower public trust in government, industry, science and expertise. Gattinger is a Fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute. She holds a Ph.D. in public policy from Carleton University.

Monica GatingerDirector, ISSP and Full Professor at the School of Political Studies, uOttawa

Dr. Janet King began her career as a Research Scientist with the Geological Survey of Canada, conducting field research in the Northwest Territories. She later worked with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, including the establishment of the Canadian High Arctic Research Station, and subsequently leading the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor). Janet was appointed to the Board of Directors of Polar Knowledge Canada in 2015. Janet has a BSc from the University of Toronto, and an MSC and PhD from Queen’s University, all in the field of Geology.

A member of Ojibwe Anishinaabe Kwe, her professionalism demonstrates empowerment on social justice issues, advocacy towards economic reconciliation and sustainability. A holistic approach reflects the well-being of self to benefit families and communities within the Canadian diverse populations. She has unique lived experiences engaging processes such as community justice initiatives; creating safe positive changes and dialogue to increase awareness for cultural changes. Her membership is Garden River First Nation, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.

Jacques Pilon is a Metis-born businessman. He has been an entrepreneur for 25-years. He is President of Corporations and Entrepreneur-in-residence at the Launch Lab Innovation Centre located in Kingston, ON. As a career entrepreneur, owner and President, Jacques brings over 25 years of expertise in the telecommunications and information technology industry. As a result, he has an intimate understanding of entrepreneurship and business planning. Jacques holds a Honours BSc Degree in Physics from the University of Waterloo.

Rongo Wetere is of Ngati Maniapoto Tribe in Aotearoa (NZ). In 1994, Dr. Wetere gained government approval for the establishment of New Zealand’s first Maori University, Te Wananga o Aotearoa (TWOA), serving as Tumaki (CEO) until 2006. He also was a key driver in the establishment of WINHEC (World Indigenous Nations Higher Education Consortium). Dr. Wetere holds the Queens Commentative Medal (1990), Order of New Zealand Merit (ONZM) 1996, Fellow of NZ Institute of Management (2002) and two honorary Doctorates (Sinte Gleska Indigenous University, S.D. and Auckland University of Technology).

Dr. Céline Auclair is a co-founder and the executive director of the First Peoples Innovation Centre and the general manager of FabLab ONAKI. She has a Ph.D. in International Relations from the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and a master’s degree in regional development from Université Laval. Her areas of expertise are governance structures, human rights and First Peoples history. Since 2006, Céline has been a commissioner for the First Nations Tax Commission of Canada.

Ms. Martin is an Industry Executive who bridges the gap between government transformation opportunities and the emerging technology solution ecosystem to deliver results. With over 25 years of experience at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Microsoft Canada, she has focused on building a deep understanding of her customers’ industry-specific reality, whether it be Communications and Media, Healthcare, Public Sector or most recently Autonomous Vehicles. She is a graduate of the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.

Pauline MartinIndustry Executive, Government - Canadian Public Sector, Microsoft

Zoë Robaey is a Veni grant laureate 2019 of the Dutch Research Organisation Talent Scheme. She researches responsible innovation practices with biotechnology in the context of agriculture and how to improve them. In the recent years, her work has considered inclusive innovation in the bioeconomy, safety-by-design in biotechnology, and designing for stakeholders’ values. Zoë Robaey is also in the Management Team of the 4TU Centre for Ethics and Technology and Associate Editor for Science and Engineering Ethics.

Ms. Rekow conducts research on psychological safety and leadership practices to help her clients strengthen their organizational cultures. As the founder of Neural Shifts, she uses her behavioral analytical skills to get to the root of behavior and facilitate meaningful and lasting change. She holds a B.S. in psychology from Boise State University; a M.S. in Organizational Development from Seattle University; completed coursework for a M.S. in Neuroscience from University of Oberta, Spain; and is a Certified executive coach from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, the Neuroleadership Institute & the International Coaching Federation.

Alan McCafferty is Irish, French Canadian and of Metis heritage and is regarded as a highly skilled and successful Strategic Consultant with 25+ years of progressive experience working with start-ups, multi-national and public organizations. Educated in Canada, the USA and Europe in multiple disciplines including Engineering, Business, and Risk Management, he’s authored more than 25 white papers and is a Canada Award for Excellence recipient. Alan is the founder of The Strategic Consulting Group an Ottawa based strategic advisory analytics firm.
