different parts of the community
This covers; age, disability, gender, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy and motherhood, race, religion/belief, sex and gender orientation.
Disability Discrimination ActThe disability discrimination law bans discrimination from employers against disibility service-users. The main activities covered by the DDA are;
• Employment (inc access to employment)
• Access to and use of goods, facilities and services (inc access to public buildings, shops, leisure facilities, healthcare, housing and issuing licences
Supporting Equality and Diversity

with skills to challenge inequality and discrimination• Ensure work resources dont
discriminate and are diverse• Ensure polices and
procedures dont discriminate
What is discrimination?Discrimination is mistreating and stereotyping someone or a group of people based on their ; age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, mariatual or relationship status, disability or any other form of category in which the may full under.
It can happen in my setting by not allowing certian people into the nursery, assuming things due to their appearance (I.e. Assuming someone with a disablitly can not do something), treating the children different because of their background or their parents, allowing some cultures to be explored and taughts but not others and many more.
Inclusive enviroment reduces Discrimination
An inclusive enviroment reduces discrimination by giving everyone equal opertunities, fair treatment, and a diverse enviroment which embraces the differences in every individual, culture, religion, age and race ect.. An inclusive enviroment will also create a positive and friendly work place for both staff and children.
Challenging DiscriminationIt is important to challenge discrimination because it will only get worse and show others how to discriminate. If you challenge it then they wont be able to do it within the work enviroment and those around can not be influenced by it.
You can challenge discrimination by questioning, offer another opinion and stating the law and policies on discrimination. If it was a child you would explain clearly about equality and individuality.
