I am proud to an-nounce that we have launched the Chapter 77 web-site. After a signifi-cant amount of planning and pa-tience, you will find us at:
www.irem77.org.
You will find the website to be very user friendly, and easy to maneuver throughout each page… and then find your way back home! Sections include: 1) Who We Are, which highlights the Chapter and its mem-bers, 2) Education, which spotlights the Region 3 Course schedule, 3) Connections, which provides links to IREM National and the monthly Chapter newsletter, and 4) Friends of IREM, a separate section for our

IREM President David Lane Resigns, Tony Smith New IREM President
As many of you may be aware, David Lane has resigned as 2004 National President for personal reasons and Tony Smith, CPM® has assumed the duties of Presi-dent for 2004. Tony will remain in office through November 2005.
The following are Tony’s remarks to IREM leadership just after he assumed his new role:
“The leadership transition is well underway and is progressing seamlessly. Moreover, be assured that IREM's string of recent accom-plishments and great forward mo-mentum will continue. As we move ahead, we will be guided by the strategic plan in place and ap-proved by all of you. It will be im-plemented by our strong, sea-soned and enthusiastic team of volunteer leaders, aided by a very capable and energetic professional staff.
IREM leadership remains fo-cused on delivering value to our members. To this end, we will continue to provide the informa-tion and benefits they need to successfully address the con-stant challenges and changes that characterize our dynamic industry. We have made signifi-cant strides, with many more to come, thanks largely to the re-sponsiveness and commitment of our members.
I look forward to working with all of you in the months ahead and count on your continuing sup-port. It will be my pleasure and privilege, and that of our other officers, to serve our strong and vibrant organization.”
the members with the most refer-rals will be determined. The two top winners will be invited to at-tend the 2004 Education Confer-ence to receive their prizes and to draw Member-Get-A-Member Lot-tery Tickets for other winners to for such prizes as digital cameras, portable DVD players, American Express gift checks, etc. Prizes will be shipped to all winners fol-lowing the conference. Steve & Lee are the newest ARM® members re-cently approved by National. Please help us wel-come them when you see them at the next member-ship meeting. While there are a few more ARM® applicants in the midst of the approval process, it would be premature to formally welcome them, but rest assured the family is growing. But let’s not stop there! Why not consider continuing your educational requirements for the CPM® Candidate and finally the CPM® designation? There are some great classes being held in the region. Please contact a representative on the Education Committee or con-tact the Chapter office for more details and dates. You can also take classes on-line!
If I can ever be of any assistance please don’t hesi-tate to contact me at 703/497-7104. See you at the membership meetings!

Join Chapter 77 and other IREM colleagues on the Hill and continue to make IREM a leading force in the indus-try and a voice heard in Con-gress. We will visit with our area’s senators and repre-sentatives to help them un-derstand our legislative agenda in terms of how it benefits their constituents.
In order to learn about our legislative agenda, please attend the Federal Issues Briefing and Orientation for Hill Visits, Monday April 26th from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt Washington,
DC. This session will fully prepare us for our visits to Capitol Hill by bringing us up to date on the issues affecting our industry, providing us with briefing papers and letting us know what to expect when we meet with mem-bers of Congress.
The Agenda for Action Issues includes: Bank-ruptcy Reform, Terrorism Risk Insurance, Deprecia-tion Reform, Banks in Real Estate and Tort Re-form.
There will be a Hospitality Reception from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the 26th to meet, mingle, and get ready for our day on the Hill.
On the morning of Tues-day, April 27th, we will meet at a location that will be announced at a future date to meet with our rep-resentatives on the Hill. We will be joined by col-leagues from the CCIM Institute and REALTORS’ Commercial Alliance to increase our voice when we speak to our legisla-tors.
Please note that the Hill visits are free of charge and are open to all IREM members, even if you are not attending the Summit. If you are interested in participating, please con-tact Maria Pietroforte, Chapter 77 Legislative Chair at 703/815-4255 or email:

Just a reminder that the IREM Region 3 Education Committee is willing to host a private offering of any IREM class for your company. What this means in most cases is great savings on IREM course tuitions and the convenience of having a class for your employees at your own facility on dates of your choosing. We are able to host classes for a minimum of 10-12 students, and often hold classes for two or more management companies that combine smaller numbers of employees to achieve the minimum class size. For more information or further details, please call Amy Groff at 703/578-9146.
