Transfer StudentsAdmission Requirements Transferring < 12 completed credit hours
If you are an applicant transferring with less than 12 completed transferable credit hours (not including dual credit), you must meet the same Guaranteed Admission requirements as first-time freshmen and have a least a 2.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all transferable coursework. Submit the official high school transcript, SAT/ACT score from the testing agency, and be eligible to return to the most recent institution.
Transferring with 12 to 29 completed credit hours
If you are an applicant transferring with 12 to 29 completed transferable credit hours (not including dual credit), you must have a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all transferable coursework and be eligible to return to the most recent institution.
-OR- Meet the same Guaranteed Admission requirements as first-time freshmen and have a least a 2.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all transferable coursework. Submit the official high school transcript, SAT/ACT score from the testing agency, and be eligible to return to the most recent institution.
Transferring 30 or more completed credit hours
If you have 30 or more completed hours, you must have at least a 2.25 Cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale in all transferable coursework. Submit official transcripts from each college/university attended. Coursework in progress and dual credit hours are not considered in this calculation. All attempted work is considered. Repeated courses are not excluded. You must be eligible to return to the most recent institution.

UTSA students may be eligible to receive financial aid including scholarships, grants, loans and work study jobs. To receive financial aid, you must complete the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA fafsa.gov) for the applicable aid year and submit every subsequent year as needed. UTSA’s federal school code is 010115. The priority deadline to submit your FAFSA for the fall semester is March 15.

Top Scholars receive a four-year (eight regular semesters) scholarship that includes personalized signature experiences in academics, leadership and community service as well as funding for tuition, fees, room and board. To qualify, first-time freshmen must apply at utsa.edu/topscholar and be in the top 5% of their class, have a 1400 SAT or 32 SACT score and be a Texas resident.

Terry Scholarships are awarded to students who graduate from a Texas high school or transfer from a Texas college or university and demonstrate leadership and service, have strong academic abilities, have financial need and are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.

Phi Theta Kappa scholarships are awarded to students who are members of PTK, are incoming first-time transfer students and a Texas Resident, have a 3.0 GPA or higher, apply by the deadline and be enrolled full-time at UTSA for fall and spring semesters.
