To return to Venice after so long was a joy,and to take part in Incroci di civiltà a delight. Venice is less of a labyrinth than I remember,

but more beautiful too.

Crossings of Civilisations is an international literary event thatbrings to Venice world famous writers and scholars to celebratethe historical vocation of the city as a meeting point of peoples

and cultures and to debate on the most urgent topics of our times.

The 2009 edition was a great success for the audience, the critics and the press. It represented a felicitous

cooperation between the Ca’Foscari University of Venice, the City of Venice, and numerous private sponsors.

The Bauer-Ca’ Foscari prize, awarded this year tothe most distinguished French poet Yves Bonnefoy,
