Independence is the power to decidethe terms on which sovereignty is pooled.

Independence is thedefault status of nations.

It is the condition to which the peopleof every nation will always aspire.

Page 3: Independence

Independence is normal.

It is the contrivance of inequitable devolutionwithin an asymmetric union which is anomalous.

Page 4: Independence

Independence is not conditional.

It may not be constrained or qualified other thanwith the informed consent of the people.

Page 5: Independence

Independence is aboutthe freedom to make choices.

It is not a about the purposes forwhich that freedom is exercised.

Page 6: Independence

Independence is not isolation.

It is the capacity to freely negotiate the termson which a nation engages with the world.

Page 7: Independence

Independence is achievable.

It will be achieved when people recognise thattheir aspirations will not otherwise be realised.

Page 8: Independence

Independence is essential.

Only with independence will the people ofScotland be able to exercise the sovereigntythat is theirs by right.
