    About Major Indian Cities

    New Delhi

    New Delhi is the capital city of India. Airport: Indira Gandhi International Airport- INTERNATIONAL

    o It is the main airport for the country.o The airport is located in the western part of the city and is well connected to the heart

    of the city by the Delhi Metro, cabs and auto-rickshaws.

    Railway Station: New Delhi Railway Stationo The railway station is located just outside of Paharganj.o The station is located well within the city.

    Transport options within the city:o The Delhi Airport Metro Express (DAME) is a Delhi Metro train line from New Delhi

    Metro Station to Dwarka Sector 21, passing through the airport. Its operating timings

    are from 5AM-11PM every 20 minutes (as of April 2011).

    o The one-way fare between the airport and New Delhi Metro Station is INR 80. Thejourney time is 20 min.

    o There are also public buses to and from the city throughout the day and night.o Others: Taxi, Auto rickshaw, cycle rickshaws

    Language:o The main local language is Hindi although English is widely spoken as the city is the

    National capital.

    Mumbai

    Also known as Bombay, it is the economic capital of India and is located in the state ofMaharashtra.

    metered taxi, auto-rickshaw, bus or the sub-urban rail.

    Bengaluru

    Also known as Bangalore, the city is located in the state of Karnataka. It is popularly calledGarden City. Airport: Bengaluru International Airport- INTERNATIONAL

    o The airport is located in Devanahalli, 40 kms (25 miles) from the central business districtof Bengaluru (MG Road) and 30 kms (19 miles) from the Bengaluru City Railway Station.

    o The most hassle-free way to commute is by taxi. Railway Station:The Bengaluru City railway station & Yeswantpur Junction

    o The Bengaluru City railway station is situated in the heart of the city, opposite to theMajestic Bus stand.

    within the city.

    Hyderabad

    Also known asCity of Pearls, Hyderabad is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Airport: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport- INTERNATIONAL

    o It is located 22 kms from the city.o The airport is connected to the city by three major roads.o Air-conditioned buses run by the airport (Aero Express) can be availed to reach various

    destinations such as Begumpet, Secunderabad, Hi-Tec City, Charminar and

    Mehdipatnam.

    Ahmedabad

    The city is located in Gujarat, one of Indias most industrialized state. Airport: SardarVallabhbhai Patel International Airport- INTERNATIONAL

    o The airport is located 15 kms from the city centre and 8 km from Ahmedabad Railwaystation and Bus stand.

    o International flights operate to New York / New Jersey, Muscat, Kuwait, Dubai, DohaQatar, Sharjah and Singapore.

    o Intra-city buses, auto-rickshaws, cycle-rickshaws, taxis etc are available. Language:

    Pune

    o The airport is in Lohegaon, which is around 10kms from the city center, and takes about30 minutes - 1 hour to reach.

    o Currently, international flights operate only to Dubai and Frankfurt. If getting a directflight proves difficult, then taking a flight to Mumbai and then traveling by taxi or train

    to Pune is a feasible option. A long-distance private taxi journey should take around

    three hours and costs about INR 1600.

    Jaipur

    Jaipur is also known as Pink City. It is the capital city of Indias largest state- Rajasthan. Airport: Jaipur International Airport- INTERNATIONAL

    o The airport is situated in the satellite town of Sanganer, at a distance of 10 kms fromcity centre and offers sporadic service to major international locations.

    Railway Station: Jaipur Railway Station Transport options within the city:

    o City buses & Jaipur Bus Rapid Transit Service, taxis, autos, and shared cabs are sometransport options.

    Language:o Hindi and Rajasthani are the most common language for communication.o English, Punjabi, Sindhi are also widely spoken.

    Noida

    Noida is located in the NCR (national Capital Region), adjacent to New Delhi. NOIDA is short for New Okhla Industrial Development Area. Airport: None

    o Nearest International airport is New Delhis Indira Gandhi International Airport. Railway Station: None

    o Nearest railway station is New Delhi Railway Station. Transport options within the city:

    o The best way to reach Noida is to take buses or the Delhi Metro from New Delhi.o Noida is well connected to New Delhi and Agra by road.o Others modes of transport includetaxis andauto-rickshaws.

    Noida is part of the National Capital Region and is famous for industries and othermanufacturing facilities.

    accessed.

    Gurgaon is the industrial and financial hub in the region.Patna
