Each word is made up of a large consonant or vowel character and a small vowel symbol, usually a slash mark.

The vowel * sounds like the a in again. This vowel occurs by default and does not need to be written.

In Maatraa form, the vowel follows a consonant and is written in a slightly diff erent form.
