Program OverviewWhat makes 2015 SPIKE @ UNIST different?

The 8-week-long SPIKE @ UNIST is exceptional - earn the chance to build an extensive networkof talented students from allover the world and explore a different culture and language alongsidea research internship during the summer.

Communication with Korean Culture

Special Lecture

Korean Language (Required - 2 credits)This course is designed to provide introductory knowledge of basic Korean language. It also introduces students tothe main aspects of traditional Korean culture and contemporary Korean society, including those pertaining to values,religion, the family, industrialization, gender, and popular culture.

Globalization & Economy (Optional - 3 credits)This course focuses on how the growing impact of globalization is transforming the economy and culture of theworld. It also discusses the issues on how to deal with the fast changing structures of economy and market as theglobalization is being accelerated.

Communication with Korean Culture (Optional - 3 credits)..J-

This course offers an overview of Korean culture and society through an interdisciplinary perspective drawing on bothhumanities and social sciences. In this course, you will broadly explore modern and contemporary trajectories andupheaval of the political, economic, cultural, and development of Korean society.

Special Lecture (Optional - Non credit)A special lecture will be delivered by internationally renowned scholars to provide students with a better understandingof science and technology. It is a great opportunity for student to share knowledge and insights in their respectivefields.

Research InternshipFollowing the 4-weeks summer course, students get to learn new skills and experience research in their chosen fieldwhile working with UNIST faculty. The research, which is conducted in English, provides the chance to participate inone of the most recent science and technology research fields with the most up-to-date facilities in Asia.

*Selection for the internship period(4weeks or 8weeks) is possible via discussion with the students and the professor.

Field trips and homestay are included in the weekend schedule. Parts of the field trips and cultural activities may becarried out on weekdays. Credits earned are transferable. It is required that you check with the appropriate office atyour home institution for credit transfer approval.

Research InternshipTake part in a 4-week-long research internship and explore a field youhave always been interested in, or grab the opportunity to look intoother areas of science & technology!~Selection for the internship period(4weeks or 8weeks) is possible via discussion with the students and the professcr.

Eligibility• Students from any university are eligible to apply regardless of partnerships between UNIST and their home

institutions.• 3rd and 4th year undergraduates with GPA in good standing are preferred• 2nd year undergraduates may also be eligible under strong recommendation
