HISTORY OF ITC
ITC Limited or ITC is an Indian public conglomerate company headquartered
in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
24 Aug1910 – ITC incorporated under the name of 'Imperial Tobacco Company of
India Limited'.
Name changed from Imperial to Indian tobacco company in the year 1970 then to ITC
limited in the year 1974.
1975 – The Co. launched its HOTEL BUSINESS which was named ‘ITC-Welcome
group Hotel Chola’.
1979 – ITC entered the Paperboards Business by promoting. Bhadrachalam
Papaerboards Limited, which today has become the market leader in India.
2000-10 - ITC entered into the Greeting, Gifting and Stationery products and FMCG
products

ITC’s Hotel Business
ITC consists of over 70 hotels across India.
These include super deluxe and five star hotels, heritage palaces, havelis
and resorts and full service budget hotels.
The 440-room ITC Maurya, Delhi has played host to a galaxy of world
dignitaries, including Bill Clinton and Bill Gates.
Its Restaurant Bukhara voted the Best Restaurant in Asia and is the only
Indian restaurant to feature in the list of 50 Best Restaurants in the World.

Packaging
ITC's Packaging & Printing Business is the country's
largest convertor of paperboard into packaging.
It converts over 50,000 tonnes of paper and paperboard per
annum into a variety of value-added packaging solutions for the
food & beverage, personal products, cigarette, liquor, cellular
phone and IT packaging industries.

ITC’s Agri-Business
ITC's International Business Division (IBD) is the country's second largest
exporter of agri-products with exports of over Rs. 1000 Crores (Rs. 10 billion).
IBD domestic sales of agri-products are in excess of Rs. 1500 Crores
(Rs. 15 billion).
IBD currently focuses on exports of :
•Feed Ingredients – Soyameal
•Food grains - Rice (Basmati & Non Basmati), Wheat, Pulses
•Edible Nuts - Sesame Seeds, HPS Groundnuts, Castor oil
•Marine Products - Shrimps and Prawns

E-CHOUPAL
e-Choupal is an initiative of ITC Limited to link directly with
rural farmers via the Internet for procurement of
agricultural and aquaculture products like soybeans, wheat,
coffee, and prawns etc.
The e-Choupal model has been specifically designed to tackle
the challenges posed by the unique features of Indian
agriculture, characterised by fragmented farms, weak
infrastructure and the involvement of numerous intermediaries,
among others.

The programme involves the installation of computers
with Internet access in rural areas of India to offer

The company follows the Going rate pricing that is
the price of the product depends uponthe competitors price.
The firm chooses pricing more or less the same as
Market leader.
ITC Promotional activities:
A particular budget is allocated for the promotion of
the products, the local promotion scheme is decided by the Area
Sales Manages, it give its suggestion to the District office and
that is forwarded to the Head Quarter in Kolkata.
