TRACE MAGAZINE This magazine cover is very simple yet effective

the colours used are pink and blue, the theme

of the magazine cover is a wedding, which the

magazine have decided to make quite girly

– which is evident as Knarles Barkley is dressed as a bride, which

is very feminine. This cover would attract someone looking at the

magazine because it has an element of humour about it, also it

would attract an everyday buyer of the magazine as the masthead

is also very recognisable.o This magazine is different to others because there is less text

on the front of it. Usually text can draw in readers, however the

comical side of this cover does that and so the text is not

needed.

SPIN MAGAZINE This magazine cover uses the colours black,

white and grey. “SPIN” is written in white writing

in a pink text box. The image used is a close up of

Kurt Cobain looking away from the camera. This

magazine unlike the last (Trace) has got a right hand third

and also more text. The person that is looking at this magazine would

know that the main story is on Kurt Cobain as at the bottom of the page – underneath his photograph is his name written in white, bold writing – the white stands out because the colour behind it is black (or grey).

The important parts of the text are written in pink, to really stand out on the darkly coloured page.

Q MAGAZINE This magazine cover is very busy and bold. The

main colours used are the well known colours of the

magazine ‘Q’: red, white and black. The image used

is a close up shot of Dave Grohl screaming with an

image that has been edited into his open mouth – this would

attract a reader if they were surprised by the image and were

unfamiliar with who the band member of the ‘Foo Fighters’.

However a familiar fan of the band, or Dave himself would be

intrigued to see him as the edited image is unusual.o This cover used red, black, white and green for the text.

There is a left and a right hand third on this magazine cover

filled with information about the articles inside the magazine.

NME MAGAZINE This magazine cover is quite busy. The main

colours featured on this magazine cover are blue,

yellow and red. The ‘NME’ masthead is the same

as it is on each issue, slightly overlapping the image used for

this cover: a close up shot of the band ‘The Wombats’. The

bands name is written in yellow and white slightly

overlapping the band members – also information about the

article on them is written in yellow below the bands name.

o The titles of articles in the left and right hand thirds is

written in write over blue text boxes, the rest of the text is

written in white, apart from in the text box at the top of the

page that is yellow with black writing in one large font and

one slightly smaller font.

MOJO MAGAZINE This magazine cover is well organised and not as

loud as other magazines but is still very busy. The

main colours that are featured are blue, black and

white. The masthead for the magazine ‘MOJO’ is

behind the members of the band: ‘The Smiths’ which is

written in big white text. o There is text on the left and the right side of the page

which has the titles of the articles in the magazine written in

white text, and the information or subtitles are written in a

blue colour that also matched the background. There is a

small yellow circle on the page with red and black text in it,

however this is the only place on the page that there is red

text and yellow anywhere on the page.

KERRANG MAGAZINE This magazine cover is bold, especially in the

Colours that it uses; black, white and red. The

image used for this cover is a medium close up of

All three of the band members. The name of the band stands

out – as it overlaps the image of the band as it is written in

big, bold white writing with a black outline, it also stands out

because the clothes the band members are white or black and

the text is over their clothes. At the bottom of the page – below the title and image of the

band ‘Biffy Clyro’ there is writing, again white text with a

black outline, around the three features images and

information there is a red design, which is almost like an

outline but not completely.
