Avishkar 2015 was celebrated by ICEM students in January and February 2015. It was segregated in
three different activities namely – Sports Event, Technical Event (Tech-fest) and Cultural Event .

A) ANNUAL SPORTS EVENT
Annual sports events were celebrated on 8th to 10th Jan 2015. It was inaugurated at the hands of
Mr.Jay Dabhade (former- Pune Shree) and Mr Sachin Khilare (national level player and alumni of ICEM
–Mechanical Dept ) .
Annual sports were having 10 different sport activities . Around 350 students participated in these sport
activities.
Separate sports activities were conducted for the faculty and staff of ICEM. Mr. Sandip Kasabe was the
in-charge of the sports event and was assisted by following teams.

B) TECH-FEST
Technical festival was celebrated at department level and the departments conducted technical events
based on the syllabus and practical applications of the same. Following are the details of the same.
1)AZIONARE’ 3.15 By Basic Engineering
A Technical Symposium Conducted on 16th February 2015
An Inter-college Level Technical Symposium “Azionare ’3.15” was organized in the institute for the
first year engineering students as a part of Techfest organized under “Avishkar 15”.
The symposium included the following events:

QUIZ CONTEST
SUDOKU
AUTOCAD
The objective of the symposium was to bring the students of various streams from different institutes
on a common platform where they were encouraged to share knowledge and innovative ideas. It also
aimed to exhibit the talents and skills of the aspiring Engineers both in Technical and Non-technical
ways.
The symposium was inaugurated by honorable vice principal Dr. Poorna Shankar and HOD Dr. Parul
Gupta. Dr. Gupta made the students aware of the importance of such technical events for engineering
students.
MODEL MAKING
The Models were displayed in the BCEE lab at 11:00 am. The objective to conduct this contest was
bridging knowledge of theory with practical aspects by using phenomenon of science and principals of
Engineering.
13 groups registered for the model making competition. These Models included both working & Demo
models.
The judge for the event was Dr. Poorna Shankar who carefully understood all the models and made a
wise judgment and gave the students some valuable suggestions.
POSTER PRESENTATION
The Posters were displayed in the lobby in front of the Sri Vishveshraya hall. There were total
18 entries. Prof. Manisha Bharti judged the posters very nicely & effectively. The poster presentation
were judged mainly based on the innovative concept, communication skills, interaction with the others
and how to make poster effectively.
TECHNICAL QUIZ
The “Techical Quiz” started in Sri Vishveshraya Hall Seminar Hall at 11:30 am. This contest was
organized to instill in our students the values of Knowledge, Wisdom and Compassion and make them
smart citizens. This competition attracted maximum participation from both ICEM & other colleges. 101
participants registered for the competition.The event was judged by Prof. Manjusha Tatiya.
SUDOKU
Sudoku is the event which is completely brain storming. Total 24 partcipants (in-house and external)
registered. The competition was judged by Prof. Ashish Manwatkar.
DRAFTRIX- AUTO CAD CONTEST
In the competition, students were given one machine component drawing. The students were asked to
complete the drawing using the AUTO CAD software in the stipulated time by applying certain rules.
Overall 24 students registered for the contest. Prof .Rakesh Shendage judged the event.
The valedictory session was graced by the Mechanical HOD Prof. Sunil Ingole. The winners
were given certificate and a cash Prizes. All the other participants were given certificates. The program
ended with the vote of thanks proposed by event coordinator Ms. Parvin Shaikh.
2) CONSTRO-TECT 2015 by Civil Engineering Students
CONSTRO-TECT 2015 was organized in Civil Engg. Department of ICEM Parandwadi on 16th
Feb. 2015. Programme was inaugurated by the auspicious hands of Dr.Poorna Shankar Vice
Principal, ICEM at 10.30 am in Swami Vivekananda Hall of Civil Engg. Department.
Total 7 events were organized, out of which 5 were technical as follows :

And 2 were non- technical as follows :

In cube testing candidates was ask to design a cube of size 150mmx150mmx150mm concrete
with grade M25.Team size was restricted to max. of 4 members & 2 member. Criteria for winner
was achieving 7 n/mm2 compressive strength after 3 days. Judge & Co-ordinator for these event
was Prof. Sujata Deo. Testing of cube was done in TOM Lab of Civil Engineering Department. 10
students participated in this event. Among which Pramod Madake from S.E.CIVIL of ICEM
campus was the winner.
Second competition was Seminar Presentation. Students had to present a seminar on any
subject related to Civil Engineering in a time span of 10 minutes. Team size was restricted to
max. of 4 members & min. of 2 members. A soft copy & 2 hard copies of seminar was to be
submitted by all the students. Judge & Co-ordinator for this event were Prof. Ranjitsing Gaikwad
& Prof. Rachana Vaidya. 10 students participated. Among which Omkar Dhavan from Rajarshi
Shahu College of Enginnering was winner.
Third competition was Poster Presentation. Students had to prepare poster on any of the one
subject from 4 given. Team size was restricted to 2 members. Time allocated for presentation
was 10 min. Information regarding the topic selected was to be hand written. Judge & Co-
ordinator was Prof. Mahesh Waghmare. 5 participants were there, among which Mukesh Patil
from T.E. CIVIL of ICEM campus was winner.
Survey Layout of 15 ft. x 15 ft. room was fourth competition. Instruments required for these
event Thedolite, Tape, Ranging Rod, White Powder were provided to students. Time for
performing the task was 60 min. Event was judged by Prof. Ashish Kale, Vishwakarma Institute
of Information Technology, Kondhwa. Event was co-ordinated by Prof. Savita Jangale. 12
students participated in this event. Gitanjali Jadhav from T.E.CIVIL ICEM, was winner.
Fifth competition was model making. Event was judged and co-ordinated by Prof. Sujata Deo.
Bridge making was the task given to participants. Khairnar Digvijay from T.E.CIVIL ICEM was
winner.
From two Non-Technical events Shubham Shinde was winner for Selfie and Ravishankar Yadav
was winner for FIFA. These event was enthusiastically participated by 91 students.
Winner from each event was presentated by trophy and participation certificate, by the hands of
Prof. Shashi Bhatt – Placement Officer ICEM , Prof. Vijay Wairagade HOD Civil Department and
Prof. Ashish Kale. Event was co-ordinated by Prof. Khushal Kanade under the guidance of Prof.
Vijay Wairagade HOD CIVIL.
3)Maverix 7.15 by Mechanical Engineering Students
Maverix 7.15 was 7th in the series, the technical event organized by Mechanical Engineering
Department
This year in Maverix following competitions were planned for the in house and other college students
from Pune University.
Lathe Wars - (10 am to 2 pm)
Time Wrap - (11 am to 1 pm)
Flying Machine - (11 am to 3 pm)
I-CAD - (12 am to 2 pm)
Paperika - (10 am to 1 pm)
Around 250 participants participated in various events from 25 engineering colleges from Pune
University including Indira College of engineering and management.
The event was inaugurated at the workshop on 16th February morning 10.00 AM by Prof. Balaji
Nelge (workshop superintendent) by operating the lathe machine in presence of all the staff & students
from Mechanical Engineering Department.
The prize distribution ceremony was held on 16th February same day, where all the winners & subject
toppers were awarded at the hands of dignitaries present. For the ceremony Prof. Sunil B Ingole (HOD
Mechanical), Prof. Rohakale (HOD Mechanical, SIT, Lonavala), Dr. Vinayak M Kale (Professor, MED),
Prof Balaji Nelge (WS), Prof. Sagar Patil (Lecturer & i-MESA Coordinator) were present. Prizes worth
25000 were distributed amongst the winners of these competitions.
For the impartial & fair judgement, judges from outside colleges are invited. For this Prof L.V. Kamble
(HOD Mechanical, Siddhant COE), Prof. Ganesh Kadam (Assistant professor, SKNSIT, Lonavala) were
present.
The Maverix 7.15 was an event of shear unity of all the students and staff inclusively.

4) QUANTONIUM’15” by Computer and IT engineering
students
“National Level Technical Symposium (QUANTONIUM’15)” was organized on 31st Jan 2015, by
Department of Computer Engineering with great enthusiasm and dedication. Students from the
disciplines Computer Engineering and Information Technology participated in organizing the program.
One day paper presentation has arranged in five parallel sessions at Class Rooms. Each session was
judged by two session chairs, internal department faculty and outside department faculties. The judges
were Prof. P.H. Patil HOD E&TC, Prof. Harjeet Kaur Asst. Prof. E& Tc Dept, Prof. Gauri Vaidya Asst. Prof.
MCA, Prof. Darshana Desai Asst. Prof. MCA.
INAUGURAL SESSION
The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Chetan Wakalkar IGI Group Director, Dr.A.A. Kulkarni Director
ICEM, Dr. Poorna Shankar Vice Principal and HOD (Computer & IT). All dignitaries addressed the
students with delightful, technical and inspiring words.
Prof. Chetan Wakalkar had an interactive session with the students about recent developments in
technologies and their challenges. Dr. A.A. Kulkarni addressed the students about the need and benefits
of the symposium. Dr. Poorna Shankar enriched the student with the concepts like Big Data, new Mobile
Technologies and recent trends in the market.
PAPER PRESENATION SESSION
More than 90 papers were selected for presentation in the symposium. Paper presentation competition
was held between 11:00 am- 3.30 pm. The five different sessions were organized in Image Processing,
Data Mining, Distributed Computing, AI & Networking and Security.
VALEDICTORY SESSION
The valedictory function started at 3:40 PM in the presence of Dr. A.A. Kulkarni, Director ICEM, Pune,
Dr. Poorna Shankar, Vice Principal ICEM and Prof. Sarika Deokate Convener Quantonium’15.
In Quantonium’15, 3 best papers were selected and winners awarded with gift.

5)Spectrum 2k15 event by E&TC Dept students
Spectrum 2k15 was organized by E&TC Engg. Department of ICEM at 10.30 am in Radhakrishnan Hall
on 16th Feb. 2015. Dr. P.H. Patil HOD and Mrs. Ankita Chimad, Convener inaugurated this event. During
the inaugural address, Dr. P.H. Patil enlightened the importance of Electronics engineer for the growing
technology and its implementation for various applications in the society. Total 5 events were organized
as follows:
I Multi –Board Master for SE TE BE E&TC, Electronics.
Event is organized to test the software
Simulation and actual hardware implementation
of the same simulated circuit on the bread-
board skills of the students….event is taken into
the three rounds.. Elimination round - simple
circuit is given to simulate and then
implementation… Simulation has to be done in
this round of the given circuit In this final round
simulated circuit has to be implemented using
hardware components on the bread board…
Faster simulation and implementation group in

III. ROBO FEST 2015
A] ROBO RACE:
.Robo Fest include two main event/Competition
as ROBO RACE & ROBO SOCCER. The aim of this
event was to enhance students ability to
electronics, electrical components as well as
circuit understanding, design, soldering,
assembly, testing, functioning. In this event
from ICEM & other various colleges 32 groups
were participated (Total students: 69).

6)Techkshetra- by MCA students
An Inter-Collegiate event of Techkshetra’15 was organized by Department of MCA, Indira
College of Engineering and Management to inculcate presentation and technical skills in students
through technical competition. 104 participants from UG & PG Colleges enriched the event with their
active participation in both the tracks of event. All MCA I & II year students whole heartedly worked in
various committees for event with full of zest. This event was conducted in two different tracks side by
side named WebGeek & TechWiz.
WebGeek Competition:
Purpose: The competition was conducted to test knowledge of students in the area of web
technologies like HTML/CSS/JQuery/Ajax/XML.
Participation: Total 38 students (UG+PG) registered for the event across 8 different colleges in the
city. Out of these 38 students, total 28 students reported and participated on the day of event.
Participation: Total 40 students (UG+PG) registered for the event across 8 different colleges in the
city.
Details of competition: There were three rounds for WebGeek as below-
1. First Round - Web Rider:
Web Rider was an online MCQ round on web technologies
2. Second Round- Web challengers: It was aWeb Page development competition where students
were supposed to develop a website on the theme of “Online shopping” in a span of 1 hr using
the above mentioned technologies
3. Third Round- Info-Race – It was a quiz competition round consisting of various sub rounds like
dart round and buzzer round.
Evaluation and results: The evaluation of different rounds was done by subject experts and the
names of the winners were found out as below-

Techwiz Competition
Techwiz was c programming competition where 60+ UG & PG students participated from
different colleges across Pune. The event consist of three rounds as follows:
First Round - Crack-IT: First round "Crack-IT" comprises of consist of 30 C-MCQ's which was
online exam out of which top 14 scorer were selected for next round.
Second Round- Codechef: Second round for the event "CodeChef" was c-programming
round where participants have to code for “ Count the no of occurrences of each alphabet in a string"
within 50 min, The programs were evaluated on different parameters like time, output , logic, lines of
code, Indentation & comments. Evaluation was done by Dr. Punam Bhoyar & Mrs.Revathi Devi, 5 teams
were shortlisted for the last round.
Third Round- Quizoid: Quizoid has two rounds itself. The first round is the rapid fire round
& the next was buzzer round. In rapid fire round each team was asked by questions in 2 minutes.
Maximum 10 questions only. Each question was of 10 marks with no negative marking. In buzzer round,
some question were shown on the screen, participants have to press the buzzer within 30 seconds
whoever press the buzzer first was given the chance to answer, every right answer carries 10 marks &
on wrong answer 5 marks was reduced.
Final two winners are selected by considering their score from each round. The details of the

All the prizes and certificates were distributed at the end of the event by the hands of HOD, MCA
department, faculty members and student in charge. The program ended with the student’s views and
experience about the program. They also extended their hearty thanks to all the faculty members,
judges and organizers of the event.
7) Excellent by MBA students
ICEM MBA students celebrated Excellent Competition on Saturday 31st, 2015 with the slogan “Taking
excel to new heights.” The competition was based on practical application of MS Excel which is highly
required for the MBA students . Prof. Priyanka Pawar was the faculty in-charge for this event.
The inauguration was done at the hands of Honorable Group Director , Shri. Chetan Wakalkar , in
presence of Dr. Ankur Kulkarni, Principal-ICEM , and Dr.Mrs Poorna Shankar , Vice-Principal -ICEM.
The competition was separated into two segments . The first segment was regarding understanding
basic concepts of MS Excel. Students were required to undergo an MCQ test for the same The second
segment was based on actual work on MS Excel by solving practical assignments.
Students from Indira Group of Institutes and from other institutes participated in the completion .
Students from other institutes like Sinhagad Institute of Management, College of Engineering Pune,
Zeal Institute of Management participated in the competition . Around 75 student participated in the
first segment . 20 students were selected for the second segment . Winners were declared on the basis
of performance of the students in the second segment.

C)CULTURAL EVENT
Cultural events were celebrated on 20th Feb 2015 .This event can be well-described as “ the event of
the students for the students and by the students “ It consisted of dance performances, singing
performances and the fashion show of the students . Honorable Chair-person was the Chief Guest and
Honourable Group Director was the Guese of Honour for the event . Academic toppers , winners of the
annual sports and best performances were felicitated during the event..
