The University of Osijek (UNIOS) is a modern European higher education institution that acts as a regional center of knowledge, research and excellence. It consists of eleven Faculties, five University departments and one Academy of Arts. It has about 20.000 studentsand 1500 employees.

BRIEF HISTORY
o In 1396 the Dominican general institution of higher education,called UNIVERSITAS IADERTINA, has been founded in Zadar as thefirst institution of higher education in Croatia
o In 1955, on that basis, the Faculty of Humanities and SocialSciences in Zadar was founded, at first as a part of the Universityof Zagreb, and later as a part of the University of Split
