GEOGRAPHY AND LOCATION
INDONESIA IS THE LARGEST ARCHIPELAGO ( A GROUP OF ISLANDS ) IN THE WORLD. THERE ARE TOTAL NUMBER OF 17,508 ISLANDS OF WHICH ABOUT 6000 ARE INHABITED.
SIZE AND POPULATION
- Total land area is 1,919,440 square kilometers ( 741,096 square miles ), or about three times the size of Texas.- An additional 3.2 million
square kilometers ( 1,235,520 square miles ) of ocean is within Indonesia’s borders.
- The last official census recording the population of Indonesia took place in 2010 and it showed that there were 237,424,363 people living on its 17,508 Islands.
