Campus Location
Universitas Indonesia has two campuses; one
is in Jakarta and the second one is in Depok.
Depok campus is a green campus covering 320
hectares maintaining the ecology conservation
by utilizing only around 30 percent of the land
for academic, research and student activities.
Most of all faculties are located in Depok
Campus while Salemba in Central Jakarta has
been the home for the Faculty of Medicine,

About Darmasiswa RI Program DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries
which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Bahasa Indonesia, arts, music
and crafts. Participants can choose one of 45 different universities located in different
cities in Indonesia. This program is organized by the Ministry of National Education
(MoNE) in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The DARMASISWA program was started in
1974 as part of ASEAN (Association of South
East Asian Nations) initiative, admitting only
students from ASEAN. However, in 1976 this
program was extended to include students
from other countries such as Australia,
Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan,
Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland,
Sweden, and USA. In early 90’s, this program
was extended further to include all countries
which have diplomatic relationship with
Indonesia. Until now, the number of countries
participating in this program is more than 75
countries.
?Regular 1 (One) Year Darmasiswa RI Scholarship Program
Regular One Year Program is a one year scholarship program offered
to foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship
with Indonesia to study Indonesia language and Art (traditional music,
traditional dance, and Indonesian craft) in selected Indonesian Higher
Education Institutions.
?Regular 6 (six) Month Darmasiswa RI Scholarship Program
Regular six month program is a six month scholarship program
offered to foreign students from countries which have diplomatic
relationship with Indonesia to learn Bahasa Indonesia in selected

*Additional Requirements (for students applying to Indonesian Literature and
History):
· Students majoring in Indonesian Studies or other related field
·· Good command in Bahasa Indonesia
UI invites all international students from our partner universities
abroad. We invite applications to study Indonesian cultures and
language at UI under UI-Darmasiswa RI scheme. You will get a chance
to experience life and study 2 semesters for either undergraduate
program or language training (BIPA).

Eligibility ?Not more than 35 years old
?Be nominated by the International Office of home university (Director of
International Office) or other relevant office.
?In good health proven by medical certificate
?Able to communicate in English and have a basic knowledge of the proposed
course

?2 (two) letters of recommendation
?5 (five) passport size color photographs
?Full page copy of passport valid for at least 18 months
from the date of arrival in Indonesia

Application Procedures
The applicants should apply through the following procedures:
1. Filling out application form available at the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General
in the country of residence.
2. The application form should be submitted together with:
?A copy of academic transcript
?Health certificate
?Passport size color phorograph (5 pieces)
?Fullpage copy of passport valid at least 18 months from time of arrival in Indonesia
3. Completed application should be submitted to your International Office at your home
university. Then, International Office will send all applications collectively to the
Indonesian Embassy/Consulate General in the country of residence and the
Darmasiswa Secretariat by email:[email protected](cc: to International
Office Universitas Indonesia, email: [email protected].
4. The documents of applicants will be submitted by the Indonesian Embassy to the
Directorate of Public Diplomacy, Department of Foreign Affairs or the Bureau of
Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education, addressed to:

5. The applicants’ documents will be selected every March for program commencing in
September of the following year by a team consisting of officials from:
?Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, MoNE
?Directorate General of Higher Education, MoNE
?Directorate of Public Diplomacy, Department of Foreign Affairs
?Cost universities and colleges
?The result of selection will be communicated to the participants by the Indonesian
Embassy or Consulate General or through website in April.
4UI—Darmasiswa RI Scholarship Program
ScholarshipThe scholarship covers:
?Tuition waive
?Stipend at the amount of Rp
1.500.000,00 (one million and five
hundred thousand rupiah)/month, and
will be transferred to the
University/college where they study.
The participant is advised to prepare
additional fund to cover their personal
expenses during their study in Indonesia.

Note:For Universitas Indonesia, class will be conducted at the beginning of August. Students have to be in Indonesia a week prior to the commencement of the courses for orientation program.
Health InsuranceThe Ministry of National Education will not provide health insurancetherefore
the participants are expected to have the International insurance.

Visa Arrangements
Regulations
Regular ProgramVisa used for this program is a short visit Visa (VITAS) issued by the Embassy of Republic
of Indonesia where the participants live. This visa should be converted to Limited Stay
Permit or 1 (one) year upon arrival in Indonesia through the Immigration Office where the
participants study.
The participants are advised not to use the tourist Visa to study in Indonesia, since it will
have effect in processing the Stay permit.
Short Course?Visa used for this program is a short visit Visa (VITAS) issued by the Embassy of Republic
of Indonesia where the participants live. Furthermore, this visa should be conversed to get
the Stay permit or 1 (one) year upon the arrival of the participants in Indonesia through the
Immigration Office where the participants study.
?The participants are advised not to use the tourist Visa to study in Indonesia, since it will
have effect in processing the Stay permit.
?The participant has to sign a statement of declaration stating obligations of the
participants provided by the Indonesian Embassy where the participant reside before
his/her departure to Indonesia
?The original signed statement should be submitted to the Ministry of National Education
upon arrival in Indonesia
?The participant has to refrain from engaging in political activies or any form of
employment for profit or gain
?The participant should not involve in any misconduct and any form harassment
?The participant is not allowed to bring any member of family during study period in
Indonesia
