What is or is not appropriate behaviour in the BGUE.g., Respecting people from diverse backgrounds, following rules and procedures.

PROBATIONARY INFORMATION

Probationary InformationInclude information such as;

What is the probationary period?

What is it used for?To assess suitability of the new individual for the volunteering role

How long will it last?Typically between 3-6 months (e.g., 6 months for FIFO workers)

What will they be assessed on within this time frame?E.g., How well they mix with other volunteers, how well they follow rules and procedures.

When will they be informed as to whether they are or not successful in joining the BGU?After completing the probationary period (3 or 6 months from the date of joining the BGU)

Formal DFES training pathways (and realistic expectations as to how long it takes to complete it)
