Harris Pye offers a wide range of industrial services from boiler surveysand inspections, through to boiler repairs and refurbishment, as well asthe design, supply, installation and commissioning of complete boilersystems. We specialise in the design, manufacture and installation ofskids and pipework systems for industrial applications includingpetrochemical, desalination and power plants, as well as oil and gasrefineries. Steelwork services, specialist welding, instrumentation andcontrol are other industrial services we can offer our clients.

BoilersBoiler Surveys andInspectionOur team of highly qualified andexperienced personnel offer a full andcomprehensive worldwide inspection andreporting service for industrial and marineboiler plants, turbines, steam chests andvalves using state-of-the-art inspectionequipment and procedures.
Fibre Optic InspectionsApart from normal visual inspection,internal tube inspections are carried outusing fibre optic equipment, which isfitted with a video copy processor capableof recording and printing any framedisplayed on the screen.
NDT ProceduresThe inspection process can includevarious NDT procedures such as:• Magnetic particle inspection• Ultrasonic thickness gauging• Hardness testing• Tensile testing• Replica grain analysis
Reports and InspectionsThe reports generated from inspectionscan form the basis of repair specificationsused for classification and underwritingrequirements, or form a database forfuture condition monitoring. Generalmarine plant can be surveyed using thefollowing:• Optical alignment• Vibration analysis• Thermographic analysis• Analysis of lube oil
Boiler Design, TenderPreparation, Contractand Site AdministrationWe are specialist boiler designers,constructors and problem solvers. Ourteam has built and designed boilers forsome of the largest boiler companies inthe world including B&W, NEI and ICAL.
Many of the problems inherent in a boilerplant are caused by errors of judgementand short cuts taken in the original designof the boiler. By correctly specifying theequipment from the outset we canprevent such problems from occurring. Inaddition, our independent assessment ofthe plant can identify design flaws, whichcan be rectified prior to the boiler comingon-line.
If you are planning on purchasing a newboiler we are happy to liaise with you atall stages of the boiler construction. Wecan either design and build your newboiler from scratch or operateindependently in the supervision of itsdesign and construction.
This would include the following stages:• Tender preparation• Design appraisal and assessment• Contract and site supervision• Commissioning of the plant• Personnel training• Ongoing support
Boiler Troubleshootingand ModellingBy adopting a scientific approach totroubleshooting, we are able to resolveeven the most complex and exclusiveissues, including efficiency improvementand redesign whilst still maintaining aremarkably high success rate.
Our boiler performancecomputer modelling facilityenables us to set up asimulated model of a boilerand assess an infinite numberof operating variables.
The effect of major changes in theheating surface or boiler geometry can beassessed in a matter of minutes, makingour equipment an extremely powerfulproblem solving tool.
The boilers and associated equipment areavailable either fully assembled or in flatpack form from the Harris Pyemanufacturing facilities in the UK, China,UAE, Singapore or Brazil, to service theemerging FPSO markets in these regions.
Boiler Circulation AnalysisGlobally, we are the only steamengineers who can independently assessthe internal water circulation of anysub-critical boiler.
Our computer based circulation modellingfacility has been extensively field tested,with both conventional primary elementflow measurement equipment, andradioactive tracer techniques carried outby the Australian Atomic EnergyCommission.
Harris Pye Steam BoilersThese boilers, which are intendedprimarily for use on marine installations,can easily be adapted and modified foruse in any number of applications wherethere is a requirement for power and / orprocess steam.
Each boiler package will be custom-designed to meet the requirements ofindividual customers. We can undertakeall aspects of the design in-house. Theseinclude - but are not limited to - thermaldesign and associated activities, skid andmodule design and layout, includingstress analysis, as well as navalarchitecture requirements.
Harris Pye will be responsible for allaspects of design engineering,manufacture, installation andcommissioning, including aftercare of theboilers and all associated module plantand equipment.
All boilers are designed andmanufactured in accordance with ASMEand BPVC.

HP Economiser RangeThe 'HP' Economiser range is specificallydesigned to recover the waste heat inboiler exhaust gases, and to transfer asmuch energy as possible to the incomingboiler feed water stream by pre-heatingthe water before it enters the boiler. Thedesign and construction of the HPEconomiser lends itself to installationinto most boiler exhaust gas outlet ducts.HP high efficiency tube banks arepurpose-designed units, constructedfrom selected finned steel tubing,manufactured on Harris Pye's ownspecialised, in-house 'Spiral' and 'H' typetube finning machines.
Extended Heating SurfacesHarris Pye offers comprehensive designand manufacturing facilities for bothplain tube and extended surface exhaustgas economiser assemblies. Extendedsurface configurations include single anddouble 'H' gilled, spiral wound andserrated type.
Helical Solid FinHelical solid fin tube is produced on state-of-the-art, high frequency spiral fin tubewelding machines. Tube sizes range from25 mm to 115 mm OD and can be foundwith a range of fin heights from 10-25mm on varying pitches. This coversvirtually all configurations found in marineservice today. Spiral wound tubes greatlyincrease overall heat transfer rate byincreasing surface area and evening outthe heat transfer between the inside andoutside of the tubes. This decreases thetotal number of tubes required, reducingthe overall equipment size and cost.
Differential Fin PitchThe fin pitch can be reduced at localisedareas along tube length to provide loadbearing/surface contact point for tubeplate supports, alleviating the need forexpensive fabricated designs or thickertube plates.
'H' FINPairs of parallel shaped steel fins areresistance welded to the single pressuretube surface under carefully controlledconditions. The purpose built weldingmachine ensures precision indexing alongthe entire length of the tube and exactparallel attachment.
The 'H' design reduces draft loss andallows straight-through flow of gas overthe unit. Both of these factors facilitate aself-cleaning effect, which greatlyreduces fouling and the potential fordamaging and sometimes catastrophicsoot fires. The compact design of these

Mechanical ServicesHarris Pye also offers a full range ofmechanical services including pump andvalve overhaul, generator refurbishmentas well as chemical cleaning.
Harris Pye offers full pipe work systemdesign and installation service. We offerpipework systems for high pressure pipelines, cooling water, hydraulic controlsystems, fire fighting systems, etc. in awide range of specialist materials suchas:• Ferrous• Non-ferrous tubing, pipes and fittings• Cryogenic• PVC• GRP• Hydraulic• Stainless steel pipes and fittingsThe full design service includes initialsurvey; production of drawings for Classapproval by way of a full CAD system; andpreparation of a full scope of work andspecification of materials. The design,supply and installation process is carriedout in full accordance with Harris Pye’sISO 9001:2008 Quality Assurance system.This system ensures full traceability of allaspects of a particular project.
Pipework
Skid ManufacturePipe StressAnalysis Harris Pye has built a solid reputation for
both engineering design andmanufacture of various skid mountedequipment for offshore and onshorehydrocarbon recovery and treatmentapplications.
Pumping, cooling, water treatment, ROand steam injection for recovery are allapplications where Harris Pye hassupplied multiple clients with batches ofskids. The Group has all the engineeringdisciplines in-house to complete themechanical, electrical and instrumentationrequirements of the skid.
The skids are manufactured in one of ourmany global facilities, depending on theclient's region of operation' and if requiredthey can be installed and commissioned.

Harris Pye is capable of performing stressanalysis on interconnecting pipingsystems. We offer static and modalanalysis at the design stage of pipingsystems, as well as static and dynamicanalysis of existing systems.• Analyse systems to various stress
codes including B31.1, B31.3, EN13480• Define the placement and required
pipe support types in a system• Assess existing systems which show
evidence of excessive dynamic loading(field date required)

Our experience in carbon, stainless andmore exotic duplex materials means thatall requirements can be met locally. Thisreduces the time needed to put theequipment to work for meetingproduction targets. Harris Pye's Electrical and Instrumentationdepartment has a team of experiencedengineers, with the ability to design,build, install, commission and maintainelectrical and instrumentation controlsystems. We work for the marine, oil andgas, petrochemical and power industriesin the following areas:• Boiler combustion control, burner
management and feedwater controlsystems
• Alarm, monitoring and dataacquisition systems
• Inert gas control systems• Process pressure / temperature / level
/ viscosity control systems• Cargo handling control systems• Fixed and portable tank gauging and
monitoring systems• Fire and safety system servicing and
certification• Service, repair, calibration and
certification of fixed and portable gasdetection equipment
HRSGs are used for recovering waste heatfrom exhaust gas produced by gasturbines in boilers and refinery operations.This wasted heat, usually vented to theatmosphere, can be turned into steam andused to greatly reduce operational energycosts. HRSGs are individually designedusing our in-house propriety software,tailored to each specific application, andcan be retrofitted to existing plant in mostcases.
Harris Pye has designed, manufacturedand installed many HRSG’s. With thecentre of our engineering excellence beingin Dubai, our skilled engineers have globalaccess for individual applications. Theunits are then manufactured at one of theGroup’s ISO and ASME accreditedworkshops.
Our complete in-house capability meansthat clients from all industries cancontract with a single supplier for design,manufacture, installation andcommissioning.
Harris Pye regularly undertakesinspections and evaluations of processheaters around the globe. Accurateindependent measurements and analysisby thermal engineers provides anassessment of plant operation andefficiency. This information is then usedto suggest various improvements toequipment and operation procedures.We design, manufacture, install andcommission complete process heatingsolutions of any scale, to satisfy yourspecific requirements.
