Metal Doors & Frames

A door is a moveable barrier used to cover an opening.

Doors are used widely and are found in walls or partitions of

a building or space. A door can be opened to give access

and closed more or less securely using a combination of

latches and locks.

Doors are nearly universal in buildings of all kinds, allowing

passage between the inside and outside, and between

internal rooms. When open, they admit ventilation and

light. The door is used to control the physical atmosphere

within a space by enclosing it, excluding air drafts, so that

interiors may be more effectively heated or cooled. Doors

are significant in preventing the spread of fire. They act as a

barrier to noise.

They are also used to screen areas of a building for

aesthetic purposes, keeping formal and utility areas

separate. Doors also have an aesthetic role in creating an

impression of what lies beyond. Doors are often

symbolically endowed with ritual purposes, and the

guarding or receiving of the keys to a door, or being granted

access to a door can have special significance. Similarly,

doors and doorways frequently appear in metaphorical or

allegorical situations, literature and the arts, often as a

portent of change.

Many kinds of doors have specific names, depending on

their purpose. The most common variety of door consists

of a single rigid panel that fills the doorway. Many

variations on this basic design are possible, such as

"double" doors that have two adjacent independent panels

hinged on each side of the doorway.

Most doors are hinged along one side to allow the door to

pivot away from the doorway in one direction but not in the

other. Doors can be hinged so that the axis of rotation is not

in the plane of the door to reduce the space required on the

side to which the door opens.

Doors can be used as general doors, commercial doors,

residential doors, industrial doors, scientific doors, fire

resistant doors, acoustic doors as well as security doors.

The same can be offered with honeycomb paper core,

mineral wool and PUF insulation if required. Manufactured

under stringent internationally certified procedure with

state of the art CNC equipment. We offers a wide range of

pressed steel products like doors & windows.

Types of Doors

Scientific Door: Scientific doors facilitate highest standards of

hygiene for cleanroom environment in industries like

pharmaceuticals, Bio-technologies, Micro Electronics Industries

and hospitals. These fully flush type doors available in galvanised

steel and stainless steel are provided with a range of indigenous

and imported ironmongery in stainless steel. These door sets can

be custom designed for individual project requirements while

incorporating special features in addition to the vision panels,

ironmongery and wide range of color finish.

Fire Door: Fire doors are available in fire resistant levels from 30

minutes up to 2 hrs, all tested to BS 476 Part 22. These door sets

can be made in very large sizes with options for glazing , fire

resistant self closing louvers, single or double door sets, optional

fixed over panels and optional temperature rise (insulation)

configuration.

General/ Commercial Door: High duty general purpose metal

door sets are available in sizes up to 2600mm wide for double door

sets and 3000mm high. Capable of accepting glazing in many

configurations with air vents, louvers and wide range of hardware.

Finish coated in epoxy polyester powder paint (or) as standard.

Secure Door: Special attention is paid to construction details

and the addition of security hinges , multipoint locks, reinforced

laminated cores and high security glazing which produces a range

of secure door sets that are suitable for high security applications.

The level of protection required will determine the degree of

sophistication of construction.

Acoustic Door: By the Introduction of special linings, seals and

structurally bonded cores, a high level of sound reduction is

achieved.

A Fire door is a type of door or movable barrier used as part of a passive fire protection system within buildings to prevent the

spread of fire or smoke between separate sections. It is usually the only means of allowing people to pass through a fire-

resistant wall.

Apart from the door leaf (the swinging panel of the door) there is the door frame which also has to meet fire rated regulations,

intumescent strips, smoke seals, door hardware and the structure that holds the fire door assembly in place. Together, these

components form an assembly, typically called a "doorset" which holds a rating, in hours, specifying the amount of time it is able

to resist a fire at a given temperature. All of the components of the fire door assembly must bear a listing agencies label i.e. CBRI

certification to ensure the components have been tested to meet the fire rating requirements.

Fire Doors & Frames

Construction and Installation issuesAs well as ensuring the door is hung properly and squarely, it is also very important that where a fire door is installed, any gaps

left in the opening between the wall and the door frame must be properly filled with fire resisting material.

Edges of a fire door usually need to have fire rated seals which can be composed of:

• An intumescent strip, which expands when exposed to heat

• Neoprene weather stripping

• Gaskets to prevent the passage of smoke

Intumescent seals are crucial in maintaining the performance of a fire resistant door, and as such, the correct seal should always be used. Seals may vary in chemical composition, expansion rate, expansion volume, and/or charring characteristics. Some fire doors are equipped with internal windows which also have a rating, or have been incorporated at the time of the door test and be subject to the overall door's product certification. Fire-resistive windows must remain intact under fire conditions and hose stream impact resistance, and can include:

All components are required to adhere to product certification requirements that are acceptable to the local Authority such as CBRI (Central Building Research Institute, Roorkke) by meeting the requirements of the local building code and fire code. The regulatory requirement will change from country to country.

Regulations

Most fire doors should be kept closed at all times, however some are designed to stay open under normal circumstances, only to shut automatically in the event of a fire. Whichever method is used, the door's movement should never be impaired by a doorstop or other obstacle. The intumescent and smoke-seal bounding of fire doors should be routinely checked, as should the action of the door closer and latch.

Some fire doors are held open with an electromagnet, which may be wired to a fire alarm system. If the power fails or the fire alarm is activated, the coil is de-energized and the door closes on its own.

Rated fire doors are tested to withstand a fire for a specified period. There are 20, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 minute-rated fire doors that are certified by an approved laboratory. The certification only applies if all parts of the installation are correctly specified and installed. For example, fitting the wrong kind of glazing may severely reduce the door's fire resistance period.

Individually Keyed System (KD)

With an individually keyed system,each cylinder can be opened by its individual key.

Keyed Alike (KA)

This system allows for a number of cylinders to be operated by the same key. It is ideally suited to residential applications such as front and back doors.

Master Keyed (MK)

A master-keyed system involves each lock having its own individual key which will not operate any other lock in the system, but where all locks can be operated by a single master-key.

Common Entrance Suite (CES)

This system is widely used in apartments, office blocks and hotels. Each apartment (for example) has its own individual key which will not open the doors to any other apartments, but will open common entrance doors and communal service areas.

This is an extension of the master-keyed system where each lock has its own individual key and the locks are divided into 2 or more groups. Each lock group is operated by a master-key and the entire system is operated by one grand master-key.

Masterkey systems offer control over the movement of people within a building or buildings. It is most important that the keying requirements of a building are accurately and correctly detailed to provide security and accessibility for the keyholders of the building.

Any recommendations must relate the security of the system to the convenience of movement within the building.

Too much reliance on one side of the security/convenience balance will either sacrifice the security offered or lose the convenience factor. It is thus vitally important to strike the right balance.

Cleanroom classification

Cleanrooms are designed to provide this by meeting purity classes of various degrees based on ISO and cGMP standards, as directed by the given applications at rest conditions

Class 1 and 10 (the highest specification) are generally used for integrated circuit and semi-conductor manufacture.

Class 100 (BS. 5295 equivalent classifications E and F) are often used by the electronics industry along with some applications within pharmaceutical facilities.

Class 1,000 to 10,000 are used by manufacturers of the highest specification fibre optics, precision engineering, sterile packaging and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Class 100,000 is adequate for general component assembly and packaging.

The air shower enhances cleanroom operating protocol by serving as a reminder to all operators that they are entering a controlled environment. The complexities of hood operation become apparent when the

many variables involved in exhausting fumes generated in the space

are considered. First, there must be an adequate “pull” of air, known

as face velocity, to move fumes from the hood through the ductwork.

Face velocity is measured in feet per minute (FPM) at the vertical

sash plane. In order to maintain consistent face velocity, a certain

quantity of air, or exhaust volume, is required. Exhaust volume is

measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM). Sash position also impacts

face velocity. The sash is a transparent panel set in the fume hood

face, that provides access to the hood interior during set-up

procedures and minimizes contact with dangerous chemicals and

fumes during hood operation with the sash lowered.

Airflow patterns into the hood are influenced by the air foil. Located

just beneath the sash, the air foil decreases turbulence of air entering

the hood. (Some fume hoods feature air foils on the left and right

sides of the sash as well.) Located across the inside rear of the hood,

baffles control airflow patterns through the hood. Baffle panels are

located in a position determined to be most effective for the

application. A remote adjustment option allows the user to re-

position the baffles according to characteristics of effluents

generated in the hood.

Biological Safety Cabinets are partly-recirculating laminar

airflow enclosures with high efficiency particulate air

(HEPA) filtration of exhaust air and an air barrier at the work

opening. HEPA-filtered vertical laminar airflow which is

recirculated in the work zone creates an ultra-clean work

environment for product protection. An air barrier between

the operator and the work zone is maintained by a flow of

room air into a full width grille in the work opening. The

barrier air mixes with the laminar flow air in a sump

underneath the work surface, and is exhausted to the

outside environment via a HEPA filter and an optional virus

burn-out. All positive pressure zones and filter seals are

In direct heat rotary dryers a continuous

feed of wet particulate material is dried by

contact with heated air, while being

transported along the interior of a rotating

cylinder, with the rotating shell acting as

the conveying device and stirrer. We offer

rotary dryers in co-current (parallel) and

counter-current operation. In the former,

the wet material is exposed to the hottest

air, which enables heat sensitive or sticky

materials to be dried successfully. In the

counter-current operation dried material

is exposed to the hottest air helping to

Vacuum Tray Dryers

Function :

Used mainly for drying of high grade, temperature

and oxygen sensitive products. Highly suitable for

drying hygroscopic substances, which are dried

to very low residual moisture, content level.

Frequently vacuum drying cabinets are the sole

possibility for drying lumpy, glutinous products or

products of low pomposity. Capacity: Standard

models range from 4 trays to 48 trays.

Salient Features:

Bodies may be of cylindrical or rectangular cross

section. Both shelves and body are heated (the

body to prevent internal condensation) with

controlled circulation of hot water, steam or dia

thermic fluid. Vacuum is drawn through large

diameter ducts to minimize pressure drops and

produce minimum working pressures. Both

rotary and static dryers can be supplied with the

following optional ancillaries.

Heater system for either pressurized hot

Vacuum Tray dryer is the most commonly used batch dryer. They are

box-shaped and loaded and unloaded via a door (two doors on the

larger models). Inside are several heating plates mounted one above

the other on which the product is placed in trays. The bottoms of

both heating plates and trays should be as smooth as possible to

permit optimal heat transfer between plates and product. The

medium flowing through the heating plates is water, steam or

thermal oil. The distance between the heating plates is determined

primarily by the surface loading and the foaming of the product. To

void retrograde condensation the cabinet walls are indirectly

preheated by the heating plates. Next, the product is introduced and

heated at atmospheric pressure. Only after all individual product

trays reach the same temperature the cabinet is evacuated and

drying can start. The preheating phase is very important in order that

the drying curve and the foaming of the product is identical

throughout the cabinet. During the main drying phase the vacuum is

in the range of 40 to 80 mbar abs and in the final drying phase

vacuums of only few mbar abs are reached. Heating temperatures

are normally in the range between 800C and 1100°C. Depending on

product and surface load, drying takes from a few hours to 1 to 2

days. For some products the vacuum and temperature profiles are

automatically controlled in order to prevent a pass over of the critical

product temperature.

The dimensioning of the vacuum system is an important factor in the

design of drying cabinet systems. If for example vigorous foaming of

the product is desired, evacuation to the operational vacuum level

must take place very quickly. Vapors produced during drying are

taken out direct, or via a steam jet compressor to a surface

condenser in which the vapors condensate. The non-condensable

vapors are extracted by the vacuum system. On completion of the

drying, the product can be cooled by circulating of cold water

through the heating plates.

The OCTAGONAL BLENDER is an efficient and versatile blending machine for mixing and lubrication process of dry granules and powder homogeneously. Two third of the volume of the Cone Blender is filled to ensure proper mixing. The Octagonal Blender gives best result for granules due to very slow speed and octagon shape of container. It can be used for Pharmaceutical, Food, Chemical and Cosmetic products etc.

It is a very useful machinery for pharmaceutical industry where in gentle blending of dry granules or powder is to be done. It consists of octagon shaped body, rectangular central portion and top and bottom polygonal frustum.

Operation:

The RIBBON BLENDER is an efficient and versatile

blending machine for mixing of dry granules & powders

homogeneously. Approximately two third of the

volume of the container of Ribbon Blender is filled to

ensure proper mixing. The Ribbon Blender gives best

result for mixing of dry powder & granules due to the

design and shape of the mixing ribbon and product

container. It can be used for Pharmaceutical, Food,

Chemical and Cosmetic products etc.

Material should be charged from the top. There are

port/ports provided on the top cover to charge the

material as well as for air vent. One discharge valve

provided at the bottom and at center of the container.

The discharge height can be adjusted as per the

requirement. Material gets discharged in the other

container directly, so that material handling time for

discharge is nil and the operation is dust free.

In Ribbon Blender the powder moves from center to

the end of container and end of container to the center

of container. Hence requirement of total mixing time is

very less and the RPM required are also very less.

The dry material gets sufficient continuous movement due to the shape & movement of ribbon & shape of the container., which moves material for good quality of blending.

The unit consists of one electrical motor, one warm reduction gear, belt drive between motor and gear, couple drive between gear to (ribbon ) mixing stirrer. Operation :The double cone blender is an efficient and versatile machine to mix dry powder and granules homogeneously & widely used for pharmaceutical, food, chemical and cosmetic products etc. It consists of a cylindrical shell with two conical frustum provided with opening for charging and discharging. In chemical engineering, chemical reactors are vessels designed to contain chemical reactions. The design of a chemical reactor deals with multiple aspects of chemical engineering. Chemical engineers design reactors to maximize net present value for the given reaction. Designers ensure that the reaction proceeds with the highest efficiency towards the desired output product, producing the highest yield of product while requiring the least amount of money to purchase and operate. Normal operating expenses include energy input, energy removal, raw material costs, labor, etc. Energy changes can come in the form of heating or cooling, pumping to increase pressure, frictional pressure loss (such as pressure drop across a 90° elbow or an orifice plate), agitation, etc.

Reactors, unlike mixing tanks, are totally sealed from the atmosphere. Mixing tanks are designed to disperse two or more chemicals together. Reactors on the other hand, allow the chemicals inside to go through a reaction phase which ultimately produces new and different chemical properties

Half-Pipe Jacketed Reactors

Half-pipe jacketing provides very good heat transfer by allowing high flow rates. It is best suited for high temperatures and pressure applications utilizing hot oil or other high temperature media. Half-pipe is formed from a continuous coil and is "wrapped" around the vessel exterior in single or multiple zones to provide greater latitude for process capabilities. We use a 180 half-pipe configuration that minimizes pressure and increases fluid velocity.

Dimple Jacketed Reactors

Dimple jacketing provides good heat transfer with low flow rates at lower pressures and temperatures. It is best used with steam for heating or chilled water for cooling. We roll from the dimpled jacket to the vessel radius and then "plug weld" the individual dimples to the vessel. This allows for a secure fit.

Conventional Jacketed Reactors

Also known as open jacket, conventional jacketing is a secondary external shell wrapped around the primary vessel to provide a space for heat transfer fluids. We add a spiral formed internal baffle to direct the heating media around the vessel form the inlet to the out. Conventional jacketing is best used on smaller diameter vessels.

Receivers are used for storage of Chemicals, solvents and any type of liquids in small quantity for chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food processing industries.

Heat Exchangers

A heat exchanger is a device built for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another, whether the media are separated by a solid wall so that they never mix, or the media are in direct contact. They are widely used in space heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, power plants, chemical plants, petrochemical plants, petroleum refineries, and natural gas processing. One common example of a heat exchanger is the radiator in a car, in which the heat source, being a hot engine-cooling fluid, water, transfers heat to air flowing through the radiator.

Shell and tube heat exchanger

A shell and tube heat exchanger is a class of heat exchanger designs. It is the most common type of heat exchanger in oil refineries and other large chemical processes, and is suited for higher-pressure applications. As its name implies, this type of heat exchanger consists of a shell (a large pressure vessel) with a bundle of tubes inside it. One fluid runs through the tubes, and another fluid flows over the tubes (through the shell) to transfer heat between the two fluids. The set of tubes is called a tube bundle, and may be composed by several types of tubes: plain, longitudinally finned, etc.

Theory and Application

Two fluids, of different starting temperatures, flow through the heat exchanger. One flows through the tubes (the tube side) and the other flows outside the tubes but inside the shell (the shell side). Heat is transferred from one fluid to the other through the tube walls, either from tube side to shell side or vice versa. The fluids can be either liquids or gases on either the shell or the tube side. In order to transfer heat efficiently, a large heat transfer area should be used, leading to the use of many tubes. In this way, waste heat can be put to use. This is an efficient way to conserve energy.

Heat exchangers with only one phase (liquid or gas) on each side can be called one-phase or single-phase heat exchangers. Two-phase heat exchangers can be used to heat a liquid to boil it into a gas (vapor), sometimes called boilers, or cool a vapor to condense it into a liquid (called condensers), with the phase change usually occurring on the shell side. Boilers in steam engine locomotives are typically large, usually cylindrically-shaped shell-and-tube heat exchangers. In large power plants with steam-driven turbines, shell-and-tube surface condensers are used to condense the exhaust steam exiting the turbine into condensate water which is recycled back to be turned into steam in the steam generator.

Ahlada can design and fabricate a broad range of shell and tube heat exchanger to TEMA and ASME specification standards. We build exchangers ranging in size from 6" to 6'-0" diameter.

Storage Tanks and Vessels

Storage tank

A storage tank is a container, usually for holding liquids, sometimes for compressed gases (gas tank). Storage tanks operate under no (or very little) pressure, distinguishing them from pressure vessels. Storage tanks are often cylindrical in shape, perpendicular to the ground with flat bottoms, and a fixed or floating roof. There are usually many environmental regulations applied to the design and operation of storage tanks, often depending on the nature of the fluid contained within. Aboveground storage tanks (AST) differ from underground (UST) storage tanks in the kinds of regulations that are applied.

Storage tanks are available in many shapes: vertical and horizontal cylindrical; open top and closed top; flat bottom, cone bottom, slope bottom and dish bottom. Large tanks tend to be vertical cylindrical, or to have rounded corners (transition from vertical side wall to bottom profile) to easier withstand hydraulic hydrostatically induced pressure of contained liquid. Most container tanks for handling liquids during transportation are designed to handle varying degrees of pressure.

A large storage tank is sometimes mounted on a lorry or on an articulated lorry trailer, which is then called a tanker.

Pressure vessel

A pressure vessel is a closed container designed to hold gases or liquids at a pressure different from the ambient pressure.

The pressure differential is potentially dangerous and many fatal accidents have occurred in the history of their development and operation. Consequently, their design, manufacture, and operation are regulated by engineering authorities backed up by laws. For these reasons, the definition of a pressure vessel varies from country to country, but involves parameters such as maximum safe operating pressure and temperature.

Uses

Pressure vessels are used in a variety of applications in both industry and the private sector. They appear in these sectors as industrial compressed air receivers and domestic hot water storage tanks. Other examples of pressure vessels are: diving cylinder, recompression chamber, distillation towers, autoclaves and many other vessels in mining or oil refineries and petrochemical plants, nuclear reactor vessel, habitat of a space ship, habitat of a submarine, pneumatic reservoir, hydraulic reservoir under pressure, rail vehicle airbrake reservoir, road vehicle airbrake reservoir and storage vessels for liquified gases such as ammonia, chlorine, propane, butane and LPG.
