1. A RCC retaining wall with counter forts is required to support earth to a height of 7m above ground level. The top surface of the backfill is horizontal. The trial pit taken at the site indicates that soil bearing capacity 220kN/m2 is available at depth of 1.25m below the ground level. The weight of earth is 18kN/m3 and angle of repose is 30o. The coefficient of friction between concrete and soil is 0.58.use M20 concrete and steel grade Fe415. Design the retaining wall.

3. Design a concrete chimney of height 70m with the external diameter of the shaft being 4m at top and 4.8m at the base is required to withstand an intensity of wind pressure of 1.8 kN/m2. The thickness of the concrete shell at top is 200mm and 400mm at the base. The thickness of brick lining is 100mm with an air gap of 100mm. The temperature difference between inside and outside the chimney is 70o . Permissible bearing pressure on the soil is equal to 200kN.m2. Unit weight of bricks is 20kN/m3. Use M25 concrete and Fe 415 steel. Design the reinforcement for the chimney. Sketch the reinforcement details.

The Radar antenna gain is 20dB with an aperture efficiency of 0.7.
