P o s i t i v e P r e s s u r e V e n t i l a t i o n ( P P V )Although the concept of positive pressure ventilation has been around for some time, it’s still relatively uknown in many industrial applications. To this day, PPV has proven to be the most effective method in displacing hostile interior environments with cool, clean, fresh outside air. With adequate performance, it’s one of the most versatile methods as well. If you’re dealing with an interior environment, positive pressure ventilation can almost always be applied with the few necessary elements: A pressure source (the fan) capable of creating an air seal, an intake point and an

exhaust point.

With Tempest ducting, the intake and exhaust can be provided through

the same structure openning.

PPV isn’t limited to common structures.

Tempest 24-HD-EP

Not all fans are created equal. In fact, very few industrial fans are designed to create the necessary conditions needed for positive pressure ventilation, the most effective and efficient means of ventilating interior environments and structures.

When working with interior spaces, PPV is a must. Our model 24-IND fan is an identical version of the fans used by firefighters to conduct PPV during live fires. Its shroud is engineered to create the essential “Cone of Air,” which is used to seal the intake point. The 24-IND showcases a five (5) position tilt mechanism to allow directing the Cone of Air precisely where it’s needed. Finally, the fans high performance engine and fan blades are matched to work specifically with one another, generating the high CFM needed for PPV.

If positive pressure ventilation is not desired, these same fans can double for more common interior ventilation practices as well. Turned around, the units can provide negative pressure ventilation and paired with Tempest ducting, high CFM ventilation can be delivered to hard to reach areas, including confined spaces.

The obstacles to effectively ventilate exterior environments can be numerous. Unlike interior spaces which allow the use of PPV to ventilate and control the entire climate, there’s no such technique for hazardous outdoor locations. Throw in inclement weather and the occasional bump and bruise these tools face while often working next to large equipment, many outside work sites require a fan that’s a cut above the rest: extremely durable, reliable, high performance, easily manueverable, universal... Luckily, Tempest has just such a line.

Tempest’s General Ventilation Fans offer everything you need in a remarkably reliable exterior ventilation unit. Like all of our tools, these fans are built right here in the US by a team of skilled fabricators. Every part is built to last, from the welded and powder coated steel frame and shrouds, to the optional Explosion Proof Motors. Their high performance electric motors and impeller blades put out enough CFM to deliver the ventilation your job site needs, even when competing against possible outside elements such as cross winds.

A common use today for Tempest ventilation is on the oil fields during well drilling and preparation. For years oil & gas professionals have been familiar with the all too common presence of extremely harmful toxins and chemicals which reside underground among oil & gas deposits. As drilling is

conducted, these chemicals travel to the surface, putting working crews in direct exposure. One chemical in particular, Hydrogen Sulfide, poses extreme risk of illness and death to workers even with very brief exposure. Today, these crews have an additional effective safety measure, rapid site ventilation. Tempest fans present on the well site run full time or hooked up to a monitor, ready to displace any chemicals released at the well head with clean, fresh air.

Tempest General Ventilation Fans are used in a number of other outdoor applications as well. From dust collection on the construction site, to simple cooling methods for over heated workers or equipment. Tempest fans give you the environment control you need on almost any exterior work site.

curve and front of the shroud increases air velocity by up to 30%. This results in faster, more aggressive

T h e 24 - H D - T- E PThe 24-HD-T-EP is the identical design to the original 24-HD with an additional 2.5’ of height. An extended vertical reach for the 24-HD was needed in the oil & gas industry in order to ventilate above raised platforms from ground level. At just over 5 feet, the unit features a wide foot print for increased stability and its large 10” and 7” wheels allow for easy mobility.

Unique to the 24-HD-T-EP, the unit also comes with two 6” hard rubber wheels attached at the top of the frame. These secondary wheels help in loading and unloading the fan onto truck beds or similar means of transportation/storage.

A d j u s t a b l e T i l tThe 24-HD-T-EP allows the user to easily adjust the fan tilt from +30 degrees upward to -50 degrees downward at 10 degree increments. The 8 position tilt is easily adjusted by simply pulling the tilt latch open and adjusting the air pattern to the desired level. 80 degrees of tilt allows for ventilation at a wide variety of heights.

T h e Te m p e s t E B S - 1 6The Tempest EBS-16, or Box Fan, is popular for all forms of confined space ventilation. It’s light and small enough to ventilate tight areas but still built to Tempest’s standard of long lasting durability and reliability. Plug it in and suck the smoke/fumes/particulates out from almost any location.

N e g a t i v e P r e s s u r e V e n t i l a t i o n ( N P V )Negative Pressure Ventilation (NPV), as opposed to Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV), is the method of using a fan to suck out unwanted particulates rather than blowing them out. The Tempest EBS-16’s size and design is most effective and efficient at NPV; although, PPV may still be utilized in some circumstances.

Nothing compliments working ventilation like water does, whether it’s in decontaminating a hazardous area or cooling workers in scorching heat. The Tempest Misting Ring allows you to easily provide fine water mist carried by your Tempest fan. Features a standard garden hose connection.

Don’t forget a pair of Ratchet Tie-Downs for your Tempest fan. Tie-Downs are used in attaching Smooth Bore Ducting and the Dust Collector in addition to aid in securing your Tempest during transportation. It’s a simple addition with a number of uses.

Smooth Bore Ducting is our most cost efficient means to aid in hard to reach ventilation and dust/particulate removal. If you’re looking to expand your ventilation reach, look no further. The Stabilizer fixes the loose end of your ducting to allow for efficient and effective air movement exactly where you need it. The Stabilizer is a perfect addition to our Smooth Bore Ducting.

The Dust Collector quickly attaches to the 24-HD and 24-IND series of Tempest fans to aid in dust/particulate removal and clean-up. When used in combination with our ducting and stabilizer accessories, dust can be moved over great distances, through winding passages, and collected in almost any desired location. Item # 725-040

Using an industry leading Streamlight Flashlight and Tempest engineered Light Mount, you’ll be able to securely mount a light source to nearly any part of the fan’s frame conveniently and out of the way.

Although available separately, the Door Bar Holder (29” - 41” extension range) & Hanging Bracket Set come together allowing the user to hang the Tempest EBS-16 from any sturdy door way, window way or similar opening. Both items are made from professional grade components to ensure a secure and reliable hanging platform. If you’re looking to elevate the EBS-16, this is the kit for you.

The Hose Adapter is a must when wanting to use ducting on your Tempest EBS-16. Made of durable spun aluminum, the adapter bolts directly to the EBS-16 on either side, creating a platform to attach the desired ducting.
